Warning don't use amazon monthly payment (Equal pay) because they charge the full price to your card

  • Please note: This is not a credit card, it's a (payment option) NOT a credit card like some seem to think it is.... Its a very poor payment option you shouldn't waste your time with...
Update: I called amazon about this issues again and they transferred me to syncbank again and they said that they take out the entire balance and while they have the full balance in their possession, they then start pulling out monthly payments. I told them It's like buying a brand new car for $40,000 and agreeing to your monthly payments just to have the them bill you the full $40,000 all at once that same day.... The woman said 'yes I know and I'm sorry'. I told her it wasn't her fault.
(I edited the below text do to personal info attached)
Please note they pulled the full amount and charged it to my card but said they will now only take the monthly amount even thought they have the full amount already!!! (that makes no sense at all)
    Message From Customer Service
    Hello,
    Just a reminder :)
When you choose equal pay for a purchase made using your card, the whole purchase amount is (initially charged) to your account. However, your repayment of the promotional balance will be divided into equal monthly installments. Please see your “minimum amount due” or “Your Account Messages” on your statement for additional details on repayment amounts.
We look forward to seeing you again soon.
We'd appreciate your feedback. Please use the buttons below to vote about your experience today.
    Best regards

Imagine, you go up to the cash register with a $1,000 item:
Clerk: "Hey, did you know you can pay us $100/mo for 10 months instead of paying the full $1,000 right now?
You: "Wow! That's awesome! Sure, let's do the $100/mo option.
Clerk: "Awesome! So, your total right now comes out to $1,000!
You: ".......But..... you just said I would pay $100/mo...🤔😑"
    Clerk: "I did say that!"
You: "Then why do I have to pay $1,000 right now?"
Clerk: "So that way, once I have the $1,000, I can pay myself $100/mo"

You may as well pay the full price. This defeats the purpose of monthly installments. This payment option is only available to customers Amazon deems "trustworthy." The fact they are charging and holding the full price and then dividing that up monthly, shows they have zero trust of their "trustworthy" customers.

The point of monthly payments are for the people who don't have the money for an item and want to do it per month and what Amazon did is like taking the full amount and then refunding it. Imagine if you have a card with a 500 dollar credit limit and you’re looking to buy something worth $600. And you think to yourself, well I could pay it off with 6 months at $100 a month. I added it to my cart and selected monthly payments and then it said It'll charge me $60+tax due at shipment and then with $240 remaining balance). I haven't purchased it since I wanted to see the costs before doing so.
Since I'm only using debit, will it charge all $300 right away and then pay off the $60 for 5 months while they already have my full charge in possession? Or will the debit card make a difference and actually pay off $60 monthly separately instead of the full $300 day one charge.

You will NOT be charged the full amount if find a product that has pay in 5. It will only charge you the first months payment and taxes.
