      You can't just randomly sacrifice things. You need to calculate all the possible variations after that, every one of them, don't miss out, if you did, then your opponent might take advantage of it, and after everything's done and the outcome is favourable to you, go for it

      No in the original opening trap. It is now a known tra by GMs but it has been seen at GM play before.

      As I can remember, the old masters of chess had played often in the Drunkard Chess Fu style. This might be the cause of many "evergreen" games.
      Naturally, not everyone was a drunkard at that time.
      Many times, the cause was simply a random idea, based on the ad hominem method: "most of opponents will ruin the better position at all". But this way is double-edged and very risky.
      Other games I can remember based on pre-analised "in-the- club " variations, those were dubious and depended on the actual opponents' bad luck.
      This way often drove to self-destruction.

      ​@@booth11201also, you have to remember instantaneous communication was not available. It's not like every GM and IM got updated of some new opening or trap the day it happened. Especially those overseas.
      It's very likely that the GM could have asked his regional/local opponents to keep hush hush about it until after he got a chance to attempt it at a major event

      Guys, he is jsut saying that it's a 90 minute game, to emphasize that it is a CLASSICAL game. Highlighting the fact that both players had A LOT OF TIME TO think of their moves. Note "It wasn't a bullet game" so as to dismiss the fact of this being something that just occured out of playing quickly.

He should have said "90-minute chess game" which would have at least been more implicative that it was a game with 90-minute limit rather than a game that *took* 90 minutes.
      Or, even better, he should have said the actual time it took.

      that doesn't help, if you move the rook back, the knight is blocking the rook from defending the promotion square. It's just mate in one if the rook moves back, instead of mate in two with moving the knight.
