    Great use of visual aids! I think it'd be helpful if you explained why the 200g was 2N. But a quick google search helped me understand that.

      Darcie Can you verify with me that F=2N is an approximation of Force =mass * acceleration = 0.2 * 9.81 m/s^2 = 1.962 N?

    I found your lecture total by accident. But as an adult working on building a small business, I thought it to be very illuminating and helpful. I have one question. If you have an object, like a 50 gallon barrel on its side, how would you calculate the force the force as a sole value without torque?

    no. the units for Force are newtons, kg*m/s^2. therefore, u would convert 200g to .2kg. then u would say the force of the block on the ruler = mg. mass times gravity. F = ma => mg = ma => g = a. therefore, mg = .2*10 => F of the block on the ruler = 2N.

    because 5250 rpm needs to intersect torque and horsepower power figures so the engine rotation speed causes power to increase do to speed increasing because more work is being done in a give amount of time. torque is a mathematical equation.

    The force in the example you gave, isn't it the mass times gravity. Kg•acceleration. Not just a mass?

    considering if the force applied in 90 degree angle this formula is correct, otherwise it requires angular acceleration since we have a force that works though rotation axis

    May I assume that the beam will be in the same position, for instance, at a certain inclination of some degrees, if I put two equal masses at the same distance of the pivot ? Or it will rotate to the horizontal position ? In this case, why it turns to zero inclination, if I put two equal forces? Shouldn't it keep at the same position, considering the fact that the beam are subject to the same torque?? Thanks

    Greetings video maker, I appreciate your efforts but I am confused whether my book is wrong or you are wrong or you and my book are right but I am wrong because my physics book says torque is "THE TURNING EFFECT OF A FORCE ABOUT A PIVOT " but you are saying that the torque is the force itself but the book says that the turning "EFFECT" of a force is torque, so please clarify.

      Torque is a concept, not an independent force. Any kinetic force not applied in the centre of rotation with the result of the object rotating is torque.

    torque is a vector, it has both magnitude and direction. This guy doesn't explain that the angle between the force and radius (just a distance between where the force is applied and the axis/point of rotation is 90 degrees or pi/2 radians. the magnitude of torque equals r times f times sin of the angle between the force and radius vectors. in this case theta= 90 degrees or pi/2 radians, which means sin of the angel between the two vectors is equal to 1, if you refer to the unit circle, so the problem is very simple when the only force acting on an object at some r away from the center of rotation is a force perpendicular to the direction of the displacement in the radial direction (just the distance you are away from the center of rotation (the radius)). sin theta=1 so the torque becomes r times f. But what's the direction, since it is a vector? Learn how to use the "right hand rule" move the vectors tale to tale and move the r side of your hand towards the f, the direction of your thumb will show the direction of the torque. in the case of this problem the torques directed into his white board. if the same weight was on the opposite side with the same distance from the pivot, the torque would come out of the board. This is because we define counterclockwise rotational motion as positive change of angle and clockwise as being negative theta. Hope this helps, or at least makes you see the depth of your ignorance.

    The formula is incorrect. Actual one is torque = force cross product radius, or torque = l F l * l r l * sin(angle)
