Easy Tres Leches Cake (Using a Cake Mix!)

- We are making a very simple, easy version of Tres Leches cake. If you like very easy recipes and really moist cakes this one’s for you!
This is the first recipe I ever formulated and wrote down, over 10 years ago! It is the only cake recipe I’ve made more times than I can count! I get asked for this recipe more than any other thing that I make! I have yet to ever serve this cake to someone who didn’t love it and I’ve made it for birthdays, events, and even a wedding! You are definitely going to want to try this one!

Lisette’s Tres Leches Cake
One white cake mix prepared and baked according to box directions with eggs, oil, and water. Let cool and then poke holes all over cake with a straw.
1 can of condensed milk
1 can of evaporated milk
About 1 cup of regular or coconut milk
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp imitation coconut extract (optional)
1 container of whipped topping (regular 8 oz. size)
Stir milks together (all together should measure to 4 cups). Mix in vanilla and coconut flavoring and pour mixture over cooled cake with holes poked. Top with cool whip. Refrigerate overnight or at least 4 hours. Enjoy!

Best tres leche recipe. I substituted the ingredients for sugar free and it was amazing. Pillsbury sugar free cakes are better than the keto ones

I made this for my birthday, and I used ube condensed milk. I can't wait to eat it.

@@readylisettego It came out purple, slightly brown. I think ube cake mix also exists, so I think next time I'll do ube ube tres leches. The condensed milk already had a coconuty flavor to it. Then I added the essence, coconut shavings and strawberries. It was so good. Thank you for your video.

How soon after can you eat this? I know you said overnight, but can it be "ready" after 3-4 hours?
I’d recommend 4 hours minimum. The milk gets more absorbed the longer it sits. So the milk might run out of the cake a little more than if you leave it overnight, but it will still taste good 😄
Hi how many hours do you let the cake stay in the fridge before you take it out to eat it
I have left it as little as 4 hours and up to 2 days. And it is good either way!

Yes! Just make sure you get a cake mix that’s for a 9x13 pan
Hi, what size cans were the condensed and evaporated milk? Or do you have ratios for the 3 milks?
Hi! I use a 12 oz can of evaporated milk and a 14 oz can of condensed milk. I believe this is the most common sizes sold, however if you live somewhere different idk if it’s always standard. The most important thing is to have the milks measure close to 4 cups of milks combined and from there you can play around with the types of milks and amounts of each.

Yes, I do let it cool at least like 30 minutes, but since you are going to put it in the fridge right after so it doesn’t have to be completely cool.

Is white cake better than vanilla cake?
I usually use whatever I have on hand, even a yellow cake would work! So personal preference is fine 😆
Hi, I'm new at this. What size square pan was that? Did you make the cake mix as per back of box? No extra egg? Water not milk? Oil not butter? Again, I'm new at this.
Hi, that is a 13 by 9 pan. Sorry that was not more clear in the video!
For this recipe I make the cake exactly as the box instructs. I use the water, oil, eggs as it says on the box.

I don’t know what I did wrong but I made a strawberry tres leche cake for the first time ever making tres leche and I used 1 can evaporated milk 1 can condensed and 1cup of milk. It was just like slop it was so wet it didn’t even cut like a piece of cake it was just a wet messy disaster. I let it set for at least 6 hours or more with the milk. Any advice? Thank you
Was it a regular size cake mix? About 15-18 oz mix in a 9X13 pan?
@@readylisettego yes it was in a 13x9 cake pan made with a strawberry cake mix I believe it was Duncan Hines.
@@LauraGarcia-ub9xp hmm I’ve never had that happen to me, so I’m not sure why 🤔 did you cook the cake and then let it cool for a bit before adding the milk?
I’ve never used a strawberry cake mix for it but I don’t see why that would be that different.
@@readylisettegoyes it was completely cooled. But after I commented I went to check the cake again I was just going to toss it but now it seems a little less soggy after sitting in the fridge for two days. Maybe 7 hours wasn’t long enough.
i think its because she says to put the whipped cream on top when ur supposed to let it sit and then put it on afterwards
