  • This is part 3 and the final installment of this series on Wild Bill Hickok. If you have not already listened to the first two episodes, please do so. Links below. We’ve already pretty much covered Bill’s entire life; his childhood, his adventures during the war, his time as a lawman, and - finally - his tragic decline. We left off with Hickok in St. Louis, attempting to organize an expedition bound for the black hills, and there we shall begin. Research for this series heavily relied upon biographer Joseph G. Rosa and his book They Called Him Wild Bill. #wildwest #history #western

    Outlaw UP!!!!! the last and final episode! The wild bill episodes where just as good as every other episode on every other old west character you've done. Fantastic job my friend. The Outlaw Saloon in San Antonio always enjoys opening a new beer, pouring a fresh whisky or grabbing their preferred mixed drinks and listing like a 5 year old listing to grandpaws old stories. Still waiting for the side characters of Lincoln County War. All of Billy the kids friends. Oh have you seen Billy the Kid on Epix? highly recommend it.

    It's bitter sweet how there's so many of these interesting people from the 1800s that no one nowadays talks about
    So much history and personal accounts that document the Wild West that, unless you're around the culture, people just sum up to cowboys and Indians
    These people are some of the realest I've ever had a chance to learn about
    Criminally underrated channel
    Narrations fantastic and the accent helps get you into the mood of wanting to listen
    I wish there was more like this out here than the million history channel documentary rips that get posted
    I'm curious if anyone knows anything about a little town in AZ called Jerome and if it holds any interesting stories and secrets

    Great episode! I agree that it’s bad news when you start hitting it first thing in the morning, especially if it’s hard liquor and it becomes a daily habit, which it usually does. It started for me when I broke my leg in a bad fight and had very little pain medicine after surgery. Vodka helps. For awhile, until you get pancreatitis and nearly die.

  • @billytrevathan6405
    @billytrevathan6405 Před rokem +1

    I used to see the cousin thing in books and be confused but it’s actually quite simple. If you and I have a parent that are siblings, we are 1st cousins. If you are 1st cousin to my dad, we are 1st cousins once removed and I would be 2nd cousin to your child. The 1st, 2nd, etc.. is people the same number of generations away from their common ancestor. The “once removed” are off by that number of generations from the cousin referenced.
    So, 6th cousin 6 times removed means he had an ancestor 6 generations ago that was a 6th cousin to Wild Bill. At Obama’s age, the math doesn’t add up for it to be any more than 4 times removed, but its possible if all his people were born about 20 years apart.

    I was in Deadwood a couple weeks ago. The “ Number 10”saloon has Wild Bills “ death chair”. Across the street is the Wild Bill Bar. Bill was killed here, NOT at the present “ Number 10.” Somebody has the legal right to “ Number 10”. The town Burned Down in 1879 AND 1884 I was told. At the Wild Bill Bar, Bill was DOWNSTAIRS playing cards. There was No windows. This was the previous location of the ORIGINAL Number 10 Saloon. It costs $10 to see the basement card room and bar. The Stone Walls ARE original. I don’t know if there was two ways to get in the card room. Going downstairs to the card room is one and I am not sure if they had a rear door OR if that was just a closet, it is downstairs.I said , “ What about Wild Bills Death Chair across the street?” I was told,” Wood BURNS,( in relation to the fires of 1879 and 1884)”. I have Never seen Wild Bills death recreated in a basement cardroom to my knowledge. It was Probably a Stool Wild Bill was sitting on, maybe that is why he fell to the floor.

    @Wild West Extravaganza Excellent 3-episode set on Hickock! Not to mention the dozen or so others I've got under my belt as well thus far. I know originally you had said that you weren't a historian, but as a historian (if we're going by college focus and occupation at various points) I can reassure you that what you do on here with regard to research and critical analysis is more rigorous than what quite a few historians I've known, and worked with, practice. Also, congrats and good on you for your 2 years man. :-)
    One thing I thought of: I'm pretty sure John and Jack are inter-changable name-wise, if only so because of JFK being called Jack Kennedy informally, as well as John (I think in response to your noting of Jack McCall's actual name being John). But that's nothing, don't even know why it happened to pop out to me - you do an exceptional job and should 100% be proud of your work. (I haven't seen the episodes that you pulled from public view, but regardless, everyone has to start somewhere and you're doing a commendable job now from a historical standpoint, but also - and just as important on here - from an entertainment standpoint as well. And no b/s, though you don't know me from Wild Bill, I wouldn't say it without meaning it - and would have no reason to besides. Anyrate, this one is over and I'm going to go check out another.
