This game is my comfort game. Moreso than Superstar. The soft pastel sotrybook artstyle, cute music bops, fun and simple level etc. is so chill.
This game is the definition of games as high art. The graphics are dripping with style. The music is jam packed with bangers. The character design is top tier. Even the animations and storytelling elevate KDL3 to a masterpiece
seeing u upload today brought so much joy oh my god pekachow upload i just get so pumped for pekachow 3 hours!!! i love u man
My favourite animal friend copy ability is cleaning nago because you just hold one button and you just vroom
I knew you could do it great job
Watching this dude hyperfixate on kirby never gets old
I love this video and this game so much. I remember first playing it on the Super Nintendo Classic that I bought for my partner and put more ROMs on. She's not much of a gamer, but we have so much fun going through this game. I think at this point it's my favorite Kirby game.
One of my favorite games of all time
I love this game yes I will watch this video
Alright yes I totally agree with you about the physics, I especially love running throught entire stages with just rick: throw away kirby with the cutter ability and rick runs at the same speed kirby returns to you. Since he can stomp and headbutt its very fun, and he wall climbs instead of hovering so you dont even lose momentum by hovering. Top kirby game for sure
I also like how whenever kirby lands theres the little star effect and he does a pose. Tiny detail but its nice
The one we have all waited for
I think i would ADORE parasol/Nago tbh. Bouncing around without a care in the world is half the reason why both Staff is my favorite copy ability and Air is my favorite element in Star Allies (with Artist and the Cleaning retool at a close second!)
Rock/Chuchu also seems like alot of fun!
Really good video :D
Woah! Finally finished the video and... that part talking about how the presence of zero is just like growing up and encountering darkness is such a succint extrapolation of KDL3's themes!! Never made that connection but you worded it all so well!!! You made me find a new point of appreciation to what already has sooo much love from me! Really fantastic video!
As a fellow KDL3 adorer (my fave game of all time!) This video has been soooo much fun to watch!!! There really is so much to gush about this masterpiece! Also Ice Nago is my fave ability! It has a really fun flappy bird-like momentum I find super fun to beat bosses with!
Okay I replayed the dark matter trilogy and I have surprised myself,I actually like dream land 2 a little more than 3, I like how this Dark Matter is seperate and independent from zero like gooey but becuz it was lonely, when it found Dream Land it grew jealous, and corrupted the place cuz of its jealousy, i also enjoy the bosses, they have a fair and fun challenge to them, the rainbow sword is a cool weapon and is fun, i enjoy getting the rainbow drops, and i love how the game looks with the DX mod, i love the atmosphere and music of Dark Castle a little more than Iceberg in Dream Land 3, sure it doesnt have amazing level design, but the design and atmosphere of it makes it feel like a climatic finale to the game, and the final bosses are a really fun ending and challenge, I never felt it was too hard, I just enjoy this game a little more than DL3, heres my ranking
3- Dream Land 3
2- Dream Land 2
1-Kirby 64
These aren't far apart tho, and I love them all! ^^
One of my favorite copy abilities is definitely needle Pitch, it's just so OP. But I don't know, my actual facorite is just swapping them all the time. Gives the game more variety.
Also I like how you mentioned that this and Epic Yarn are your favorites in terms of multiplayer. These two are definitely my wife's choices as well. I mean they are the chillest, coziest Kirby games vibe-vise, so it's no surprise.
My favourite animal friend copy ability has to be cutter rick. Theres just something so fun about throwing kirby and running off with rick
Hello! Subbed after a wondertrade for a Pikablu, and y'know what I'm glad I did! Love the content~
I had no idea that silly little thing I typed in there would actually attract any subs, so this is a really pleasant surprise! Thanks for the sub!
3 hours. This is why we waited this long! Great work!
THE RETURN OF THE KING

- I think watching this has improved my opinion of Dream Land 3 a bit, but I don't think it's improved to the point I think the game is misunderstood or overlooked:
- The puzzles can have cryptic solutions, but I think the bigger problem is the lack of communication. When you get in one of those empty rooms with an NPC, their design and context might not always clue you in on exactly what they're asking of you. It feels like being given a puzzle, but without being given instructions. Think about the new player perspective here, of course the puzzlse are going to seem super easy when you've already memorized all of their solutions. Moreover;
- These puzzle end rooms are often one-way. If you didn't bring the solution to the end, you might have to just do the whole level again. That's really punishing. Other Kirby games might let you exit and re-enter the room or backtrack to go and find it. Plus, you might not know what the puzzle even IS until you get there. Every stage has its icon on the world map, so that's something, but that's pretty much all you have to go off of
- And that's pretty frustrating, but compare that to Kirby Super Star, which was already out at this point. KSS isn't frustrating because the goal is often just to get to the end of each level and win all the games. It still has exploration and puzzles, but they're self-contained, and not so crucial. Over there, when you pull off one of the "lighting the fuse and then getting in the cannon before the fire reaches it" sorts of things, it might give you a 1-up or whatever, but the satisfaction comes from just having gone out of your way to do that sort of thing at all. Over here, the final boss and a satisfying conclusion is hiding behind it. And the game demands perfection of you, you can't miss a single one.
Apart from that:
- Oh gosh, is your main computer a Chromebook? I am so sorry
- Justice for my boy Kirby's Dream Course D:
- Weirdly I actually quite vividly remember that one Kirby flash game. Where does that go on the Kirby game tier list? Did not expect to see this part of my childhood return
- Yay, the decision to write a comment is giving you algorithm points. I'm a small creator too, I get it
- The decision to say DL3 instead of Dream Land 3 is extremely distracting. oAo I think it's because, while it takes less keystrokes to type out, it doesn't take less time to say. I don't know if there's a general community consensus on what people usually say or if it's just a me problem. Or if the DL2 video says Dream Land 2 but the DL3 video says DL3 I
- Wow, I actually hadn't seen the bad ending for this game yet. It's wild to me how subtle it... isn't oAo Seeing a blood-red eye like that all of a sudden must have scared some kids shitless back then. But if you get the good ending you're gonna get even MORE blood (take that ESRB lmao)
- What would you have said about the Zero boss battle if Star Allies hadn't come out yet? I mean, it is out, so obviously we can use it - but I guess what I'm really wondering here is how much of that meaning and impact was actually there for the nearly 20 years between the release of these two games. The way its presented here, it sort of feels like we needed Star Allies to make this make sense?
YOOOOOOOO THANKS FOR THE LONG COMMENT!
I completely get your perspective on the Heart Stars. Everything you mentioned is a genuine flaw with the Heart Star system on a first time playthrough (to be fair, after playing the game as much as I have it's a little tricky to get into that mindset lol) but personally I really like the more subtle puzzle design and most of them feel good to figure out, but I do think having to do the stage over again in some cases because you didn't know you'd need a certain ability (like 4-2 for example) and needing to restart the whole level if you don't know what to do are both very valid criticisms, I won't deny they do have an obtuse structure. Still, I enjoy them a lot, they've got great variety and I think most of the puzzles and challenges are fun and are well designed, and they're just super charming with all the unique Heart Star characters, their individual missions, and how it all just ties into the games' themes of friendship. They're a divisive topic, but personally I love 'em!
As for some other things you asked, if I were to put that flash game on a Kirby tier list it would probably be pretty low, but still higher than Team Kirby Clash Deluxe... maaaaybe some other low tier games depending on how I'm feeling. It's not exactly substantive, but it's a fun little time and it's got that nostalgia factor going for it! And about the Zero fight, even if Star Allies never gave the two connections (and ignoring the smaller connections seen in DL3 and 64) I still think it's loaded with great thematic substance. Cutting out the Star Allies lore only really makes things a little more subtle and the stuff directly Kirby lore relates a little more blurry, like Zero's weakness to the Love-Love Stick and making the fight overall a tiny bit less climactic and I guess less personal as well with Kirby and Zero's connections. All the metaphorical and deeper stuff is still there and the fight is still a lot of fun and a great final boss!
I always love when a longer comment like this sparks a good conversation, I really appreciate it!
Love your vid been watching over several days amazing job very thorough. true gamer.
Clean Kine became an inside joke between me and one of my friends a few years back. It's my absolute favorite because of that.
Mario and Donkey Kong? You think dinosaurs and rhinos are cool to ride around on? Well, we got us a giant hamster. Eat your hearts out.
Nice work.
Man I didn't know 5 months had passed already summer feels like yesterday
My favorite has to be Fire/Nago I don't know the spread and how spam able it can tear the most enemies and with bosses
[even though you like Cutter Nago the problem I got with that is mostly the ark and it halt you for a second not sure if it kills momentum]
WOAH! WOAH! I love and appreciate Dream Land 3 as much as the next guy, but better than both Forgotten Land and Return to Dream Land? 😂 Now you're just yanking my chain.
Heh, I was just bored and randomly thought about how much I loved this game, and criminally underrated and often disliked it is. I decided to search something along the lines of "kirby's dreamland 3 underrated" and to my surprise, this video, a THREE AND A HALF HOUR LONG breakdown and love letter to the game showed up from just 3 weeks ago.
Decided to give it a little look just for a few minutes, to see if I agreed with any points.
3.5 hours later, here I am, I watched the full thing and am going to hate myself in hindsight cause I have so much work to get on aaaaaaaaaa.
But I am so glad I watched it as I could never explain or even fully understand the love I have for this game. It almost seemed irrational, but thankfully you broke down this game bit by bit and explained everything I adore about this game, and why I also hold it above many fan-favorite titles. This game is such a unique title, and the experimentation factor really keeps the game engaging from start to finish.
I definitely will watch the 64 retrospective as it is a very interesting game itself, (though I personally find the Crystal Shards far less enjoyable than this game and many others), I really want to hear what you have to say about it. Overall, great job and great editing too, I can tell this took a lot of time. Hyped for the next one!
also, best ability is cleaning chuchu no contest (could be fire chuchu too cause i had no idea about the hot air balloon thing until now so i always thought it was just a awful low range flame)
Thanks for the big comment! It's really cool that this video helped you understand why you love DL3 so much, and hopefully the 64 vid does a good job explaining why I hold that one in such high regard too! It's probably not gonna be perspective changing or anything, but I'll make it a good one, it's a big video for my favorite Kirby game after all! Hope you enjoy the stuff I got planned for the future!
I couldnt decide which I like better, but I think dream land 3 is a little better than others but tied with 64 until further notice, and i cant wait for your 64 video ^^
My favorite copy ability was the Pitch clean ability, tbh Pitch was my favorite animal friend
Purple
I think the first time I encountered the Hibanamodokis I tried spraying fire on them
It did not work
(I thought they were fire flowers wihout the fire)
Stone pitch was definitely my least favorite, just felt too awkward. While cutter nago is certainly up there for me I think I’d have to go with cleaning chuchu as my favorite 🤩
Green
Wow what happened to the prices? I got kirby dreamland 3 sense used back in 2015 for like 30 bucks in middle school goddamn
