- Come along on Aahmei's journey as she prepares to undergo bariatric surgery to battle her severe obesity. At 17 years old, she's tried numerous methods to counteract her obesity, but nothing has worked. Facing a lifetime of health problems, she turned to the Adolescent Bariatric Surgery Program at Lurie Children's at Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital for help.

I'm 15 (16 in November of this year)

I weigh 312
I've tried diet after diet. Last year of 2021 I lost 45lbs in 3-4 months(I weighed 250lbs). I fell off the wagon due to personal reasons. It's been almost a year since I lost that weight. In almost a year I gained 60+ pounds. I want to FINALLY get the weight off completely. SO............
I'm going to set up a plan for myself, whether it be surgery, a whole new diet I've never tried, or eating pre-made meals, or maybe ALL of it
I'm going to come back to this comment when I remember and I'll update ya'll on my weight/health.

I'm thirteen years old I was bullied alot in yr7 (was 80kg) but I started to starve myself throughout the school day and I stopped eating junk completely, I now weigh around 66-67kg but I'm still trying my best in losing weight. I am 5foot and 4 inches & around 148 ibs so I'm alittle overweight but I just want others to know that no matter how hard and how many times people bring you down please don't give up. You can do it. Keep fighting for your goals. Remember that there is always time for change. Don't lose faith within yourself

hi i’m 17, 5’8 and 270, the highest i’ve ever been. thinking of getting a bariatric wls in the summer once i’m 18 before i’m off to college. i’ve always been a bigger child and weight has forever been an issue for me, it’s made both a physical and mental impact on me. i’ve also always struggled to keep weight off when doing diets, i’ve yo-yo’d too many times it makes me tear up just thinking about when i did lose from 240 to 180 and wasn’t able to enjoy that stage for longer than 3 months after 6 months of fad dieting. i also have a huge problem with over eating and rarely ever feel full. i think eating is definitely one of my coping mechanisms and i don’t want it to be. my mom got a bypass and she’s encouraged me to get it but i’m still wary even though i’ve seen it works.
Thank God for directing me to Dr Usifoh for curing my Herpes simplex virus2. Mom just didn't know how to say no you have had enough to eat. It is her fault as well. It is a simple equation: Don't overeat and exercise.
I really relate to that constant hunger. It's probably because I used to be home alone a lot as a kid, so I ate food that wasn't really filling (sugar and trans fat high foods) instead of proper meals.
I am in my 40’s and I am a sleeve patient. I had it done Feb 28, 2019. I would say that my sleeve its the best decision of my life. I had gained from 178 lbs to 215 lbs die to not been able to walk, feet condition.
My Dr recommend the sleeve since I was worried about my rapid weight gain.
I am 155 lbs now n Ive been on this weight fir 2 months but I love it p again its the best decision
A week after me my nieces who was 21 also had it done.

That's what happened to me. I carry the weight really well but I'm insulin resistant and it's hard to lose weight plus when j was a kid I never knew when I was full

Hi, how are you ? This bariatric surgery is a medical error, just as errors occur in any other profession. I have two acquaintances of mine who died because of this surgery. One had little stomach and when she went to eat a snack, the little stomach she had was unable to digest it, and then she got severe pains in her stomach, feeling sick and died. The other acquaintance of mine, became weak and when she ate, her intestines could no longer retain nutrients from food and she died of malnutrition. And when she was alive, she kept passing out fainting from weakness, even eating and eating right. Her stomach became small and so the body did not absorb food for it to survive. With so little stomach left in it, they cut a part of it out, and didn’t keep the tissue to be frozen, so that if she eventually needed to undo the surgery, put it back in it again. So how do you do it? And there was another one that I forgot to mention. That the internal scar of the surgery became very thin and broke, causing her stomach to fall into her body and she died instantly. I do not know how they have not yet banned this surgery, with so many people who give problems, after they went through it. Not to say them all. Be careful. Why go through this? Dieting, without being radical and exercising, is the best thing. And examine the patient to see why he doesn't lose weight. I currently, when I eat only two tablespoons of rice on the plate and eat at regular times. It helped me a little to maintain the weight. Hugs

So I gave these comments to warn people to be careful. Why was even I scared. Nobody talked about it much at the time. It was just to warn people and for them to be careful. It's just that. I think you should lose some, but don’t go all the way to 99 pounds. You’re gonna need the weight to pull through the incoming changes of puberty. Your body is gonna grow and start demanding more energy. So, don’t lose too much and do some muscle training instead. Your weight currently is kinda where you need to be for your age. I was about that much at 14. Puberty made me lose about 10 pounds. I’m currently 15 years old and at 126.2 pounds. Take it from me, a fellow teenager.
