This is one of the best talks I have heard the last 12 months explaining the keto diet for my 2 monthly seizures. Both doctors explained it all very well & Dr Mackenzie Cervenka covered things no one else has. I have listened to many very knowledgeable doctors talking about the various variations of keto which has been very confusing. I started with a low carb diet for 3 months & had only just stopped sugar & alcohol a few months before but was still getting 2 - 4 seizures a month. I then went to Ketovore for 8 months but have been back on the keto diet for 1 month with MCT oil. The brain fog has lifted, the psoriasis on my scalp has stopped along with the arthritis in my knee & finger. The absences are due & I am hoping they have stopped with the help of the MCT which has helped the ketosis I have monitored through urine tests.

I stopped taking my meds 8months ago, with the meds I would get 1-2 nocturnal seizures a month, after comming off the drugs my seizures increased to 4-5 a month but not as painful. I started a keto diet about a week ago, I had a seizure last night but didnt pass out this time and felt like a minor seizure compared to before the diet. Even though it's only been a week, it definitely feels like theres a difference, for the better. If God wills, it will work and stop all my nocturnal seizures completely. Find out soon enough I guess.

How is the diet working? I have been doing different forms of the keto/ketovore for around 9 months & started on low carb for 3 months. I am now using MCT daily which I am hoping is going to help

@LifeIsWonderful675 hi, hope your well. I don't the keto diet for around 2 months, didn't really make a difference to be honest, just ended up being more stress, in the end decided to try different meds, lamotrigine, that thank God has stopped the seizures. Now I just try to eat healthy and clean, obviously a bit of fried chicken and a doner kebab once in a while has to be done.

@@sulphuroxide1 l have 2 seisures a month, didnt have them for 6wks last month & thought they might have stopped. Had 2 seizures last week, they are now drop seizures. They started as CPS or Focal they call them now. They started in 2005 after numerous blows to the head for the last time by my x. They started at 2 a yr then l stopped the Epilem suddenly after 2yrs because of s/e which then bought then on monthly. I then had to go back on the drugs & tried various ones for 6yrs. They didnt help at all so l stopped all drugs again in 2012. They have become worse so after a bad fall in June 22 they want to try the same drugs again but l have refused. I was hoping keto would help. I have talked to a dietician from The Charlie Foundation so am trying to get some info together for them. I also came across a lady who has done 20yrs research (I did over a yr) & helped her daughter. Her daughters are triggered by hormones. Mine come the same time, usually, the same time my hormones changed (l am 60). I will keep trying and pray they stop.

@@sulphuroxide1 Even though l ate fairly well, l was vegetarian for many years l had to change my diet. I never ate much meat after about 16. In June 22 l stopped alcohol, sugar, carbs & caffeine. It has helped, they have gone from sometimes 3 -5 some months to 2. Hope your feeling better & Merry Christmas
      Laura 😊
