I used myself as a tank while using project image to cast all the spells. If you are having trouble tanking him, pre-buff yourself with stone skin. Then cast protection from magic weapons during engagement. Move to a safe spot from his AOE. You are now safe to cast your project image. To protect your image from being dispelled, as soon as it pops out, cast spell immunity: divination. Finally, Unleash Hell with all your spells.
You mainly need Stoneskin as a buffer for his and his summons' attacks; Spell Immunity Conjuration for his Unholy Word; Spell Immunity Divination if you're using Blur, Mirror Image and Improved Invisibility; Spell Immunity Ecovation if you use Ice Storm and Cone of Cold during Time Stop; Protection From Magic Weapons to guarantee a buffer to cast Project Image (have the image cast Spell Immunity Divination soon as it comes out or it will be dispelled); and Spell Turning and Spell Trap for his Implosion, which is honestly the most dangerous part of the fight since if any of them get through your spell protections, you lose the fight, so keep count of how many he casts at you - if it's getting too close, Summon Planetar on top of him since he will attack the nearest target, allowing you some crucial extra time to cast more spells.
To pull off this fight, you almsot need a master degree in Arcane spellcasting in BG. Ie, knowing which spells works in which ways and how to combine them to maximum effect. There are multiple way of taking down Demogorgon. Here he uses Pierce Shield and ADHW as finisher while using a multitude of defensive spells. SI:D being one of the more important ones. I think I finished Demogorgon with Ice storm and Cone of Colds (because I liked those spells).
I played through the entire Ascension in insane difficulty. No cheats. No fancy Mod except Ascension Mod. It's really not that hard since Sorcerers are basically Gods in BG series.
@@Ranyanya kensai is really strong at high levels, I agree, but IMHO kensai->mage and berseker->mage are way stronger as they can deal physical damage, even if less then the single class kensai, but they have access to the high level arcane magic for protection, taking down the enemy's protection and dealing damage. Maybe they are sometimes slower killing the foe, but if properly used they can kill anything without loosing a single hp. Sorcerer is almost as strong as them, but in a different way, he lacks thac0 and attacks/round and is limited to the few spells he knows, but he and his PI clone has utter flexibility in using them. he can use 2 different PI for completely different purposes within the same rest. It completely depends on how the player has mastered the game's magic system, once he has mastered it he sees why in this game at high levels magic rules.
it is very easy to solo Demogorgon, just lay down seven spike traps where he will appear and this two headed baboon will self destruct the moment he appears
How did you get your attributes that high without using buffs? I forgot what Belt of Inertial Barrier does, and I also don't know what Circlet of Netheril does. The Circlet has no description.
This character was imported from BG1. The char started out as 9 str, 19 dex, 16 con, 18 int, 18 wisdom, 9 charisma. With 8 Tomes + deck of many things + hell trial you will get this high. Higher int or wisdom doesn't help out in combat, You only need 18 wisdom for wish resting. I just liked having them high for role playing reasons. =D
I just thought Id point out that the difficulty slider doesn’t change anything with the AI , it just increases the damage you take, so it really doesn’t make a difference to put it on insanity if you have buffs that make you un-hittable, its kind of a redundant flex. Great job though !
How did you boost your intellegence and wisdom to 23?! I thought the machine of the mad or so grants you the only chance in the game to permanently boost your stats.
You forgot about the Tomes from BG1.. This char was imported from BG1. The higher int and wis have no effect on the outcome of the game. I merely boosted them up for role playing reasons.
ill never understand solo runs. Best part of the game is the group's interaction, equpping all of them, letting them work together, romanceing them and all that. Id completly miss all of that way too much to ever do solo. That wouldnt be Baldurs Gate 2 anymore without the group.
I just did ascension demogorgon for the first time with a full party and it was pretty hectic, but I think a solo run would be fun as well. Once you've played through the game for the nth time, often with the same party a couple of times (because you like certain characters) it might be fun to just go it alone the once to try these ridiculous fights and see how well you really know the game.
hey x1204d :) well done! i tried it with my party but i couldnt kill that beast. its my first time i play this game. im lvl 18 now and i will try it later. i have a question: after i will finish this game, i wanna play bg2 tob with the same character. someone told me i need charisma 18 in the add on. is it true? would be nice if u could give me an answer. have a nice day
Alain T I have done it with level 16 - 18 characters on my first time playing this game on SoA . Me ( mage ) , Edwin , Jan , Keldorn , Minsc and Viconia . But it was ascension - hard not insane . When you have more mages / sorcerers game becomes easy . Summon some skeletons ( or normal animals ) to take the aggro then send your planetar .Keldorn and Minsc are guarding the mages while they are lowering his resistance and saving throws / breaching . After that send your melee characters on him . Couple of horrid wilthing , comet and other spells and he is dead. Only mages had hla so Keldorn or Minsc did not use whirlwind . In the end it was this party ( excluding Viconia because of Sarevok ) defeated Melissan and revived bhaalspawn in less than 5 minutes . But this is a pretty good video . Oh I have a question X1304d , when did you do Watcher's Keep . Before or after SoA ? I have never done solo but level 31 seems low for ToB part correct me if iam wrong mate .
Improved Alacrity, Simulacrum, two copies of "Wish" (in your quick-item inventory). One copy of Time Stop. This gives you unlimited spells. When the Simulacrum runs out of spells, you cast all the real character's spells as well, then have the SIMULACRUM use the scrolls of Wish until you get a favorable result and wish to get all your spells back. Using the scroll as the Simulacrum does not consume the real scroll, but the benefits affect the entire party.
I was replying to the post by Dejvo0, but for some reason it made it as an independent post. Sorry for the mix-up. I do applaud you for figuring out how to pin Demogorgon behind the wall of his own henchmen. I tried this several times and couldn't get it to work, so I guess there's a little bit of luck involved in getting them to pile up in a wedge like that, against the wall too, so he can't get around.
In the EE , wish does not restore simulacrum / project: image so you cant keep it up forever . I wish it did ... I've mostly used image for myself and Edwin for scouting with invisible Jan . Then killed every enemy with them .
my guy is level 23 and i have god like mage spells.. I love the wizards in baldurs gate.. they are really fucking good if you know how the game mechanics work.
This is the Ascension Mod. Demogorgon got buffed by the original creators. He is immune to level 1~7 spells, regens like crazy, moves in the time stop. They also removed all the infinite traps and summoning glitches.
Soloing bosses like this is just so darn entertaining as it's immensely satisfying. I can't seem to get ascension running on Enhanced Edition, but Demogorgon's still largely the same. Though for me, especially on non fighter/mage runs, it's always trying to keep my party members alive that proves to be...problematic... ruthlessly so.
+skodakiass it´s just a self given title, the most powerful demons share. Even Lolth the drow goddes was a demon princess quite some time (after getting kicked her nice ass out of the seldarine.later turned the folks who´d become drow to her, getting a bit of divinity back. she became a real goddess again by hunting down several demigods). there is no king of demons, as demons defy order of all Kind and never would follow a "king"
+skodakiass Most of the books describe him as a "demon prince," not "prince of demons." It's not a unique title; several others are also demon princes, such as Graz'zt, Malcanthet, etc. There is no king of demons. It's the devils that have a supreme overlord (Asmodeus) as they have a strict hierarchy. Demogorgon is perhaps the strongest of the known demon princes, however, and has the largest domain in the Abyss.
Well done, i like making demmy my bitch in vanilla EE, is there much difference in the fight in Ascension? And anyone else think that when soloing as arcane caster, difficulty level is mostly irrelevant? Enemies could deal 1000000% damage for all i care, it's easy to become immune to everything long enough to kill anything that stands in your way. Also, i've actually found Skull Trap to be better than ADHW, with Vecna's Robe and Amulet of power they're cast instantly, so you can spam a dozen of them in an instant, this makes the Time Stop obsolete, and you can safely spam Comet/Dragon's Breath instead, they're also cast instantly. My tactic for demogorgon is to set up a Spell Trigger with PFMW+PFME+Stoneskin and Chain Contingency with 3x Pierce shield, "on enemy seen" "on closest enemy". Right before the fight, i use Spell Trap from Staff of the Magi, then charge in at Demogorgon (sometimes you need to dance around him a bit so that Pierce Shields don't accidentally hit one of the Mariliths). As soon as he engages, fire the ST on yourself, then Project Image (you can optionally use IA, but i don't find it neccesary), the first thing you do with it is Spell Immunity:Divination (so that Marilith's True Sight doesn't dispell it), then IA, hit Maris with 3x Lower Resistance each, and then unload all instant dmg spells from your spellbook (Skull Traps, FInger of Death, Magic Missiles and so on, knock yourself out:P). Cast Skull Traps last, as their explosion will break the Project Image (even though you're immune to all the damage). Bam, Demogorgon is dead, and it all took whooping 3-4 turns (1-2 for Trigger+Image, 1 for making image immune to dispel, 1 for IA and killing everything). Of course, set the "autopause on spell cast" option to get the most bang for your buck when casting spells with IA.
Squeydar Trinarta meh, it's sold bya guy in Adventure Mart if you have the collector's edition, or EE. And the Staff of the Magi can be looted off the Twisted Rune encounter.
If Helm had a scroll that could reinforce the wards without trapping his own followers in with Demogorgon, then why the hell didn't he give them that one to begin with? This entire scenario seems like Helm's fault!
@@BlackDiamond2718 Helm may have made some mistakes, but he was the only deity who was actually taking his job seriously. All the other gods were running around like a bunch of spoiled children, and didn't actually care about fulfilling their portfolios. He wasn't a perfect god, but he was the only one that Ao could trust to do the job.
My favorite (and imo the best possible) class was: 1. Make a human thief > swashbuckler. Take him to 39. 2. Dual class to mage. Go to 40. You end up with a guy who has all the toys but divine magic. You give up backstab for fantastic AC, to hit/dmg and whirlwind attack. You have the overpowered thief traps and use any item. And you get all the slick, broken mage magic. You can kill anybody with straight up melee to the face, planting traps all around or spell combos. Irenicus, Kangaxx, DemoG and Melissa die real easy to him.
I don't get why modern RPG games doesn't have this kind of powerful sorcerers. Well, powerful after you have a master degree in the Arcane spells and their interactinos. Those new Dragon Age mages are just pathetic in comparison.
RodelIturalde Well in Dragon Age: Origins a mage can transform in a god on earth if you now how to build him. But you're right about mostly every other RPGs.
Mages in pillars of eternity also has great impact. Problem is the superior AI that instant target the less armored party member in opposition to BG2 AI that targets the closest PM. Mages in divinity are a silly joke. Most of the time they abuse of their "pour some XXX on the ground then cast on it" that makes mage way less charismatic and complete than in any other RPG from BG2 to Skyrim.
Actually, DA2 mages weren't so bad with the gravity spells and some nukes. And, In DA3 your online Arcane Warrior or even Elementalist with high crit was pretty insane. I guess the real difference is the depth of what this game's mages can do in comparison to the straight-forward gameplay of today's mages. Sad, really.
This is a legit char... There are 8+ tomes in BG1. BTW, the extra stats in int and wisdom don't do anything. They are just high for role playing reasons. The spells and damage won't make any difference as long as they are 18.
Why does your sorcerer have such high intelligence? You would have been far better served putting those points into Strength instead. My Sorcerer has 18 strength and he throws daggers. Create a dagger thrower - sorcerers don't need int and only need Wisdom for wish. Perhaps you are role-playing?
By u atributes, i think u used cheats, but only for atributes. Sry if i are wrong. But anyway, u played like a pro, congratulation. It's so hard to kill demogorgom only with 1 party member. And Sry my bad english.

Eden Alves Yep if someone starts from BG1, it's possible to get +3 to wisdom and +1 to int there. Then in BG2 you get another +2 to wisdom and +1 to int (can't remember if sorcerer can get another +1 to int from the deck of many things, or does it go to charisma). About the total rolls. We just played a full party multiplayer (BG SoA + ToB) and I rolled 99 at third try for my wizardslayer/thief. By the end of ToB being 20,18,18,14,15,16. Total magic resistance in the end 104.

Then cast protection from magic weapons during engagement. Move to a safe spot from his AOE. You are now safe to cast your project image. To protect your image from being dispelled, as soon as it pops out, cast spell immunity: divination. Finally, Unleash Hell with all your spells.
Alright, i will give it a try. Thanks so much.
Thanks again bud! XD /hug
What recording software did you use?
mother of baldur´s gate gamer
I played through the entire Ascension in insane difficulty. No cheats. No fancy Mod except Ascension Mod. It's really not that hard since Sorcerers are basically Gods in BG series.
How many deaths?
A good kensai beats any good sorcerer though.
We tried with friends, and this fighting class is just utterly destructive.
@@Ranyanya and even better - Kensage! Kappa
Your comment doesn't invalidate mine. I'm only speaking about a kensai vs a sorcerer. I didn't add anything else. Stick to the premices.
My back is reserved for cloak of balduran. Hopefully we get it in BG2 EE.
Jokes on u
it is very easy to solo Demogorgon, just lay down seven spike traps where he will appear and this two headed baboon will self destruct the moment he appears
Not gonna work in Ascension mod.... Q_Q
Belt of inertial barrier decreases magic damage taken by 50%. Circlet of Netheril gives extra level 7 and 8 spells.
@ 1:12 Damn, I had forgotten how good this soundtrack is.
clean
I just thought Id point out that
the difficulty slider doesn’t change anything with the AI , it just increases the damage you take, so it really doesn’t make a difference to put it on insanity if you have buffs that make you un-hittable, its kind of a redundant flex.
Great job though !
Actually damage does effect greatly on Ascension Mod. Planetars gets raped in this damage setting so you can't just spam them.
Wow thats some crazy shit !
ill never understand solo runs.
Best part of the game is the group's interaction, equpping all of them, letting them work together, romanceing them and all that. Id completly miss all of that way too much to ever do solo. That wouldnt be Baldurs Gate 2 anymore without the group.
I understand your concern. I love a full party run as well. I always do full party run several times before engaging in any solo challenges.
Damn, I just spam magic missiles...
Love 4:17: UNLEASH THE CHAOS
hey x1204d :)
well done! i tried it with my party but i couldnt kill that beast. its my first time i play this game. im lvl 18 now and i will try it later.
i have a question: after i will finish this game, i wanna play bg2 tob with the same character. someone told me i need charisma 18 in the add on. is it true? would be nice if u could give me an answer.
have a nice day
No worries... you could always come back to kill him in ToB... =)
you are fair good enough if you succeeded the entire dungeon with a lvl 18 team!!
Medivhmen I did watcher's keep after SOA. I think this is right before my final battle with Mellissan... Sorry about the late reply.
I just beat BG:TOSC Enhanced and I am having trouble following this battle, lol... :)
I tried it with Charname-Blade, Sarevok, Imoen, Neera, Hexxat and Aeri. Get my ass kicked few times. Then i get angry and cheese it with spike traps.
grats on the kill! =)
NICE BLOOD ELF DEATH KNIGHT WTF?
I tried this several times and couldn't get it to work, so I guess there's a little bit of luck involved in getting them to pile up in a wedge like that, against the wall too, so he can't get around.
may i ask on which level you are there? max level?
Metalhammer1993 I believe I was level 30 or 31....
In the EE , wish does not restore simulacrum / project: image so you cant keep it up forever . I wish it did ... I've mostly used image for myself and Edwin for scouting with invisible Jan . Then killed every enemy with them .
ill try this with my assassin, still long way before me though, lvl 12 :P
my guy is level 23 and i have god like mage spells.. I love the wizards in baldurs gate.. they are really fucking good if you know how the game mechanics work.
Very impressive! But can you take him down in NetHack ;)
Swarm him with summons. Yeah... that's the ticket!!
impressive. I never give my mages improved alacrity, seems like I'm making a mistake
how can you cast the spells so fast one after another?
Improved Alacrity.
Robe of vecna and the amulet of power are also needed if any new players are wondering
Time stop is one helluva... spell. Though I'm a bit confused why the demo-gorgon got to act during your time stop.
This is the Ascension Mod. Demogorgon got buffed by the original creators. He is immune to level 1~7 spells, regens like crazy, moves in the time stop. They also removed all the infinite traps and summoning glitches.
@@X1304d Ah, thanks.
Also, there's like three or four bosses in the game that are immune to time stop. The Bhaalspawn monk being one of them. I cant remember the other 1
ur OP
Soloing bosses like this is just so darn entertaining as it's immensely satisfying. I can't seem to get ascension running on Enhanced Edition, but Demogorgon's still largely the same.
Though for me, especially on non fighter/mage runs, it's always trying to keep my party members alive that proves to be...problematic... ruthlessly so.
+RandoGrunt Don't worry, now there is Legacy of Bhaal difficulty >:)

wooow showwww!!!!
Doesnt sorcerer need charisma in baldurs gate ?
i want to ask if demogorgon is prince of the demons who is the king?
Demogorgon is perhaps the strongest of the known demon princes, however, and has the largest domain in the Abyss.
ooh, that is a nice cloak :)
holy shit
I wonder if I could just juice wilson enough with magic to solo demogorgon.
I would love to see that Video if you can make one!! XD
Of course, set the "autopause on spell cast" option to get the most bang for your buck when casting spells with IA.
where do u found vecna robe and all those stuff ? I this special Ascension items ?
Squeydar Trinarta
meh, it's sold bya guy in Adventure Mart if you have the collector's edition, or EE. And the Staff of the Magi can be looted off the Twisted Rune encounter.
Has anyone here tried to kill gankax and the liches before him on a solo sorc?
If Helm had a scroll that could reinforce the wards without trapping his own followers in with Demogorgon, then why the hell didn't he give them that one to begin with? This entire scenario seems like Helm's fault!
Ironic how he was put in place to prevent gods from regaining their divinity when he fucked up as well
@@BlackDiamond2718 Helm may have made some mistakes, but he was the only deity who was actually taking his job seriously. All the other gods were running around like a bunch of spoiled children, and didn't actually care about fulfilling their portfolios. He wasn't a perfect god, but he was the only one that Ao could trust to do the job.
@@Nyrufa fair enough
Welp killed that low Prince of demons in just 3 seconds using spike trap. Solo assassin... Cheesy
won't work in ascension mod, sorry.
Watch out
My favorite (and imo the best possible) class was:
When you dual class to mage, is your mage level at 1 or 39?
@@Big_Zussy You start at 1. Then have to level past the first class to unlock it's abilities again.
Wouldn't you need an do cap break mod or patch for that?
Nalia here
I don't get why modern RPG games doesn't have this kind of powerful sorcerers.
Divinity comes to mind.
How...
dark soul, blood born.,monster hunter, get off o my way bitch i'm baldur's gate I II III gamers ... XD XC :-D

Already scene it
How are your stats so high?
+ZeroMalarki Tomes from BG1 and Hell trials, "Lum the mad" from BG2.
+X1304d Yeah, but you get +1 in each of them? Did you abuse a bug or something?
This is a legit char... There are 8+ tomes in BG1. BTW, the extra stats in int and wisdom don't do anything. They are just high for role playing reasons. The spells and damage won't make any difference as long as they are 18.
Legit Char, lol
I thought Tomes are common sense. Guess there are still people new to the game.
Sorcerers are just too broken in bg2
Soloed him with a lvl 20 kensai. Wasn't even all that hard for what I can remember
Normal Demogorgon is a pushover. This is the real Demogorgon with ascension Mod.
@@Ren3g4de1979 Sorry to disappoint. = / But I never kept a tracking list of all the fan made mods out there.
omg
that's more of a cheese than taking a whole team of bounty hunters and laying a hundred traps before the big fight. 0 to strategy.
Sorry dude, your traps and infinite summoning doesn't work in Ascension Mod.
What would you do? Have you ever heard about the ascension mod?
Isn't robe of vecna technically cheating?
Dark Claw how?
Why does your sorcerer have such high intelligence? You would have been far better served putting those points into Strength instead. My Sorcerer has 18 strength and he throws daggers. Create a dagger thrower - sorcerers don't need int and only need Wisdom for wish. Perhaps you are role-playing?
By u atributes, i think u used cheats, but only for atributes. Sry if i are wrong. But anyway, u played like a pro, congratulation. It's so hard to kill demogorgom only with 1 party member. And Sry my bad english.
Sorry dude, you are wrong. This was a legit roll of 89. Did you not know the attribute gains from Tomes, Lum the mad, deck of many things and hell trials?
No, i know only in watchers keep. So, sry dude, u pro. I tried 5 times in normal dificult to kill the Demomgorgom, and when finally i do, i watch u kill him with 1 member in pt and in insane dificult. Very pro man. Sry bad english.
Eden Alves
No worries! Your English is fine!! =) I have no trouble understanding you... Grats on your demogorgon kill!!
