  • Learn where to find newspapers and what's in them such as obituaries, marriage notices, foreclosures and more. There are several services such as Newspapers.com, Genealogy Bank, Chronicling America, state archives, libraries and so many locations to find newspapers online.
The cool part about newspaper research is that it is so diversified providing a ton of information for your family history. They are one of my favorite records sources for genealogy. They can help tell the story that other records don’t.
You should know that newspapers are in a variety of places, with more and more coming online every day. Unfortunately, there is no one repository that has all newspapers.
There is a handout for this that includes a list of clickable links to many online sources and all 50 United States Archives and online Digital Collections. Note: there are a few states that don’t have online digital collections.

I have a Publisher’s Extra subscription that I split with a family member, I plan to keep it bc while it’s relatively expensive, it’s also very useful. If you’re an NC resident you can get a state library card and get NewspaperArchive for free, you just have to log in through their proxy every time. I bookmarked it to make it easier.

Hi Connie! Google books is a wonderful resource, I don't know if you already talked about it. I'm from Argentina with ancestors in Italy, and also helped friends with ancestors from England and Russia. I discover A LOT in official bulletins. Every day there are new documents available and give you unexpected information.
With Google Books I discover my husband's great grand mother bought stock from a new tramway line in Italy in 1909. In Argentina I found a friend's possible grand uncle because the guy was listed as a contractor for a public school.
Great source, free and some documents can be downloaded.
