    Excellent tips. One thing to add: You do not even need to be in edit mode. Drag items to the Toolbar with the Control key held down and they will be added (same for remove).

      He speaks of a way to get to the Control Panel... or sheet. I am noting you do not even need that. Without being in the "Edit Toolbar" mode you can Control-Drag an item in or out of the toolbar. This means no need for the two windows he shows.
      NOT saying he is wrong in what he showed... his information is accurate and useful as is his norm -- just noting a different way.

    Even as an avid Mac user, I find myself learning something new so often with these videos - I had no idea we could add files or folders to the toolbar. I'm not sure what I'll use that for, but it's nice to know about the option. Appreciate all the info and work that goes into these!

    Hello everyone, can you help me out.
    So im facing issue with launchpad
    So the details are I downloaded VS code zip on desktop from browser and extracted it. After opening app it didn't show any message pop up as it usually shows when you install from browser package [are you sure you want to open] and as i was dragging it to the dock i mistakenly dragged it to the launchpad.
    Now, i can see visual code in launchaoad and even if i delete the app installed on desktop it won't get removed from launchpad.
    The app is still in launchpad but i can't see it in the finder application.
    So any tip how can i remove the vscode from launchapad?

    • @macmost
      @macmost  Před 8 měsíci

      Look in your top level Applications folder for these pieces. Then look in your User Home folder, Applications folder for these pieces. Clear them out. If that doesn't work, you can always try the extreme step of deleting your LaunchPad settings. Search for "reset launchpad" and you'll come up with how to do that.

    I've been trying to make sending files over Bluetooth easier directly from the finder. The Finder's right click menu > Share... menu doesn't seem to come up with any Bluetooth options, and even Edit Extensions... doesn't come helpful. Have you had any luck here?

    • @macmost
      @macmost  Před 8 měsíci

      What's your goal here? Sending files over Bluetooth is very unusual. Maybe a more modern method would be better? Hard for me to say more without knowing why you are sending files over Bluetooth in the first place. Using a cloud solution, AirDrop, of just regular networking are all usually better options.

    • @aram5642
      @aram5642 Před 8 měsíci

      @@macmost Sometimes I need to quickly send a file between my work and home computers, and I don't want to have to cross-log to cloud services on those laptops therefore sending peer-to-peer is much cleaner. It is having to use Bluetooth File Exchange that is not modern ;-) I only managed to "Launch Application" > Bluetooth File Exchange. But this is where scriptability of BFE ends, you can't even pass the starting directory or items to it.

    • @ironqqq
      @ironqqq Před 8 měsíci

      @@husamejle yes but still would nice to have a tool button. Often one can't tell if show hidden is turned on or off brother there is no selection box or icon to show the mode. Also when opening files from an apps dialog box, even if show hidden is enabled in Finder, it will not show the app.
      It's all very annoying, but I end up having to do file management with a Windows machine or server UI because Mac doesn't handle hidden files and directories very well and Mac OS can't change the hidden attribute.

      I do not see it that way. I have an 8 button mouse and like to have it programmed so things like the Next / Prev buttons work as I want in different apps (say next / prev message or tab or whatever). This is NOT something most people would want... I do not feel Apple is doing me wrong to not have that.
      If you do want such an app, though, USB Overdrive is another excellent choice.
