- KING FREDERIK IX conducts Wagner in private concert with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra in 1969. In the audience only the royal family including the Queen Ingrid and then Crown Princess Margrethe.

What an impressive performance by our beloved old king. I remember coming to Copenhagen to the Castle to cheer for him for his birthday when I was a very young girl. I am very proud of our monarchy and happy to have it when I contrast it to the undignified leadership of a great country like the United States where there is noone above the petty squabbles of politics that have been on display evermore since the turn of the century.
The king's daighter, Queen Margrethe II, just abdicated a few months ago. She, too, has always had an exquisite gift for the arts. Now her son, King Frederik X has just started his reign and I wish him and our Queen Mary all the best.

King Frederick IX was descended from King Edward IV of England. In as much as King Edward IV was my distant ancestor, that means King Frederick IX was my distant cousin! Considering that the ancestral roots are centuries deep, there are many connections, but at this time it appears tat King Edward IV Plantagenet was our Closest Common Ancestor. 🙂

The Sailor king, that would also sneak out of the castle at night and frequent shady bars and tattoo parlors around Copenhagen.
Mind you i am still against silly old traditions like the monarchy, no matter how hard they try to appear like regular folks, and democracy here and all other places for sure need to be modified CUZ it is flawed as we also see all over the world now.
And yes i have also met Margrethe 2 face to face, and she was also nice and all, a little later on when she wanted to give me accommodations for rescuing a crash victim i of course turned her down, and i for sure would not rescue anyone today, those days are long gone for me.
Or that is i will try to walk away, CUZ some habits are hard to get rid of.
Yes, let's get rid of all the old stuff and traditions and forget it ever happened. I'm sure that will make the world better. We can elect the next prime minister based on TikTok dance skills.
@@melanp4698 I think you misunderstand me, you can not move forward as a person or a society if you do not know your past.
And trust me i am very much a creature of habit, and that have landed me in trouble a few times.
Regarding changes to democracy, well we could do with just reinstating / using some of the safeguards the old Greeks put in it.
This mean regular elections where the worst performing politicians are voted OUT, this is actually where the word ostracized come from, though i am OK if they just get out of politics, they do not have to be banned from the country.
Second, we could maybe add to the constitution that no person can serve his / her country for more than 16 years, after that the person / family should be suspended from serving in politics for another 16 years.
It would also i think be beneficial if we stop very young and too old ( < 30 / > 60 ) serving in the first place.
And if we can not elect people to serve, well people will have to be chosen at random to serve as best they can.
And trust me i would not like to be chosen as the idea of compromise pretty much do not exist in my world, same as making a promise you do not keep, hence as you can see me in politics would absolutely not work.
Regarding your tic tok suggestion, i know of this by name, it like other social media is not a place i would ever be, though some argue this very site is social too, but then OK i make do with just this 1 place,,,,, for now but i like all google products to be banned in DK,,,,, and tik tok too
Voting politicians out does little if all of the unelected members of government (all employees, branches, and contractors) continue on the same course. Most governments are too large to be held accountable to any appreciable degree.
Little different from publucly-traded megacorporations and other entities. All seek to engorge themselves. Expand domain. Tighten grip on domain. Suppress those who resist. Suppress those who dissent.
