Love everyone’s comments! For anyone that is gonna watch the reaction but not watch the outro and leave a comment about us comparing this to the original, just go to

  • @tiredbobf1406

tbh i like that they change or add scenes up not just a carbon copy of the cartoon. people who don't accept changes might dislike it but it makes anticipating watchers like me to view the next episode to see what other change/add they made.

  • @itsthebruiser8779

What helped me going into the show was how i wasn't wanting it to be a shot for shot remake of the original show. I'm 2 episodes in right now and i really have liked both episodes

I understand why they cut the Avatar State at Zuko's ship. Aang literally can't go into the AS twice in the same day. At Zuko and at Gyatso and they prioritised Gyatso which is good imo.

I feel like they rushed the sh*t out of the first episode just to get to the air temple a few seconds later and make one of the most emotional scenes of the show happen in less than 5 seconds. Katara talking aang down and talking about found family is a highlight of the air temple scene and instead aaang brushes everything off in like 5 seconds.

Gran gran doing the exposition dump was such terrible writing. And making it so Aang didn't run away completely changes issues of guilt he battles in the future. They made unnecessary changes that made the show worse. As a standalone show it's fine, but it's definitely better for people who never saw the cartoon

  • @tezerbiz

Avatar fans must hate this live action. Everyone was behaving so soullessly and unreasonably. Everyone's duty was wrong. Unfortunately, a series like Ember Island Theater came out.

  • @LameKitten55

Didn't watch this show yet. Still traumatized by "My name is Ong" from the movie.

  • @solonec.4285

The character adaptations are bland because their personalities have been simplified and gutted of complexity. Ironically, and I'm sure the glasses guy will appreciate that what's missing from the characters in the adaptation is what's captured in the characters in the "Ember Island Players": just like the movie (although to a lesser extent), Aang is missing that part of his character that is a carefree naive goofy kid which gives him a pure heart but also makes him default to avoidance to deal with situations that are emotionally overwhelming; Katara in the original feels her emotions intensely so she has on occasion has emotional outbursts or makes emotionally based decisions but her ability to feel emotions deeply is what allows her to be such a compassionate and determined person who can lead a group in despair out of the direst of situations like the desert; Iroh is missing the part of himself that is chill and intentionally plays the fool; in the original, we get early on that Iroh is invested in Zuko but he's not exactly invested in Zuko's mission.

Lol as a «Asian» and an indigenous person, I find it funny how the ones who complain about the casting etc. tend to be white… Avatar was heavily based on Asian (China, India/Pakistan/Middle East) and Native American (Inuit) cultures. I think the casting was perfect. They all, especially Ang (Filipino), Katara (Mohawk) and Sokka (Cherokee), really resemble their animated characters. People claim they are whitewashed, but the Inuit isn’t black. Nor are Asians in general… a lot of people hate on Sokka, but I think he did a great job of capturing Sokka’s personality, and sarcastic humor. People are enust mad that they don’t look 100% exactly as in the cartoons which is insane as at least the Water Tribe is not how actual Inuit people look like in real life…

Finished the entire series and loved it from beginning to end. I always love adaptions and seeing how they add new things, it makes it fresh and interesting for established fans. I remember when LOTR fans hated Peter Jackson for the movies. GOT fans hated the show at first. True Blood, Harry Potter, and the list goes on. Expecting a carbon copy is foolish. What matters it the essence of the show and characters remain and I think they nailed it.

My biggest issue is how one dimensional some of the characters feel... they took away their flaws and it just feels off. No short temper for Katara, no real immaturity from Sokka, and Aang didn't run away? Like its weird changes that I don't see the point in.

expecting it to be 100% shot by shot like the original is unreasonable

  • @breawilldraw

I really appreciate the way that you guys talked it out and chose to approach this show with a positive attitude and not compare it to the animated show. I did the same and I absolutely loved this adaptation. It definitely is better as a package and difficult to process one episode at a time when you're a fan of the OG, but so well done and incredibly beautiful character moments. Great job guys

  • @blueberry0411

I have watched the whole thing already and I loved it. I also loved the original, yes somethings that changed shouldn't have and I didn't like some of it some I tolerated but I still loved the whole series I hope it gets a season two and three so we can see the whole thing, they would need to film fast that way Aang doesn't look to old in later seasons.

  • @srisudharsrinivasan8336

    Our prince has returned

  • @samblustein1918

The thing about this series is that it focuses on instances/events that may have happen or that we didn't see. So it being frame by frame the same as the original show won't be the case. I actually just finished the whole thing. If you keep your mind a bit more open, I think you guys may actually take a liking to it in your own way. I didn't hate it, but it's definitely different. There is likely one bit though that you will hate, and you will know it when you see it lol

  • @Joyce-qp9ci

I think going forward, it’s probably better to look at this show as a completely different thing because you won’t enjoy it at all if you keep comparing the differences and changes. It’s impossible to copy and paste the animated show into live action because of the episode differences and pacing. They made a lot of changes but were probably thought out in terms of how they can fit the same general story into 8 episodes.
