- A new season begins with 33 GT3 cars tackling Malaysia's former grand prix venue. Home favourite Prince Abu Bakar Ibrahim came close to stealing the drivers' title there last September before ultimately finishing runner-up behind Anthony Liu. Both return along with a host of familiar and new names for the start of this year's 12-race campaign.

That opening stint for Ye was unreal! What a start!
I'd give some kudos to Cheng and Yuan too. Managed to stay up there on slicks (if I understand correctly).
they need to get the F1 race back. there is no one there
Thing is, Malaysia is a motorcycle country, so MotoGP gets the popularity there. GTWC and Asian LMS race there because the track is good and Kuala Lumpur is in the "heart" of the ASEAN, so it's easy access anytime, and they don't expect huge crowds like Buriram can attract.
Such a great track. So disappointing that F1 doesn't go there anymore.
KANAMARU THE GOAT
Unfortunately horrible video quality. 😔
Hmm they didn't have this problem for quali, maybe related to the storm they said delayed the race by 1h

Okay thank you I thought it was just me
Amazing track, vehicles, drivers, liveries, production, announcing always on point wish this gentleman (great calls from the old days of Blancpain with John Watson) would show his face for once! And sadly no one there besides the teams and their crews? Millions upon millions being spent and Malaysia is a huge oil exporting nation in the region to boot where the hell is the fan base and enthusiasm I just don't get it! I hope there is some redemption in Thailand. Ferrari looking uncompetitive this season (Paul Ricard displayed this as well) in a sea of German manufacturers. D'Station AMR (Mercedes AMG) looked solid- such a top tier team- Mt. Fuji represent! And don't give me that it's too hot and humid bs I know all of us need to shed a couple kgs to go faster in our humble track cars. There's my rant anyone care to respond?
Malaysia is a motorcycle driven country, MotoGP attracts the big crowds and this even reflects in the Malaysian Cub Prix. The track is good and this is why GTWC Asia and Asian LMS keep going there, along with the revived Sepang 12 Hours, but it's not like they are there to bring huge crowds to watch.
@@Minamoto67 Yes I know that. I'm not talking huge F1/Moto GP crowds but more than a 100 people surely. In any case such a fantastic track- definitely on my bucket to go to an event someday.
Local events: Malaysian Championship Series starting this May. Next will be Malaysian Speed Festival series, Malaysian Cub Prix series & Toyota Gazoo Racing. You may find many spectators in these events but not crowded like MotoGP.
Almost every week events in SIC for local & international
@@imjuzsayin..5017 Excellent thank you for the info. I must get to Sepang what a circuit!

Dear Audi sport aj racing: please have marketing and pr brief your team on how NOT to manhandle an interviewer. Nothing quite as good as tossing Amy out live on camera when she is highlighting and promoting your team. Major PR fail!
