They should also put a clipping layer over it and make the linear a lighter brownish color, I think it would more closely resemble to style of the original if that's what they were trying to do.
They also seem to shading with grey instead of a complementary color or even a darker version of the original, it gives it a muddy look, at least in my opinion.

Take a look at Unfezant or Meowstic, sometimes the female looks more aggressive
To be honest this is just tracing but changing it ever so slightly
Well for unfezant the reason for the males being more colourful than the females is because that's what actual real life birds are like, the males are more colourful to attract a mate. For meowstic, this is a terrible example to look at for your point of "Males aren't just more pointy", if you actually look at meowstic the males are actually 'more pointy' than the females, more specifically, the ears, tails and protruding fur come to points on the males and round off on the females

I mean, just look at Hiccup and Asdred. Hiccup is not a huge fan of fighting, especially against dragons. Asdred loves it. She trains for it and Hiccup even once said she had a warrior's heart. You can see it clearly in the way they dress as well, Hiccup wearing some shoulder armor, but the rest has to do with making friends with dragons. Asdred has quite a bit of armor, on her shoulders, wrists and legs. Hiccup has more horse girl traits and Asdred has more ninja dude like traits.

That's how I learned the importance of hips in a feminine design. Which is not just a stereotype. Females have to be large in the bottom side because it's the babies generator chamber.

I was really diggin the Braixen until you gave him a katana??? It would've been perfect if you just left it as a wand then make it into a staff when he evolves. But yknow, completely changing the Fennekin line's theme works too I guess e_e

@PokeHearts Fan well if it kept the same stats it wouldn't really make sense, a sword is used for combat in a way that you would have to make contact, so it wouldn't make sense having a special attacker use a weapon made for up close combat like that
And although it is fan art it doesn't mean it cannot be criticized, in fact it would probably be good if this person got criticism so next time they could stick to what the Pokémon's origin is while making an alternate look for it.

@PokeHearts Fan while yes your statement is right about the whole fan art thing, even though this is fan art this person was attempting to make a gender variant that could actually be a proper one, with any other Pokémon it's totally fine to change up stats with the gender but this case is special.
This line is a mage
The other is a fighter
And the other one is a ninja
But just because it's a different gender doesn't mean it can change up the stats while having that as the origin, it would be perfect ok if the other gender variants would change from sp. Attacker to physical attacker and vice versa, but that's not the case here.
And I've already contemplated the fact that a magic sword could exist and I thought that would be acceptable, I had never said that I disagreed with the magic sword idea and I think all the insults are quite rude.

I don't know guys. I kind of liked that they used a katana/sword for Braixen because in the genderswap, Delphox isn't a witch anymore. Also how Greninja evolved into a water-dark type, Delphox could be a fire-fighting type. Maybe Chesnaught could be a grass-fairy type too?

I feel the whole thing about delphox being a wizard was kinda lost. and, while I will admit delphox's face is more feminine, the patch of white hair on it's chest it's meant to represent a wizard beard, so it's not exactly all female looking

There's a problem with the Delphox one . The Kalos starters are based on rpg classes.
Chespin line = Warrior/Knight
Frokie line = Thief /Ninja
Fenniken line= Mage/Wizard
Making Delphox a samurai is breaking the line . You should make it look like a male wizard insted .

I think they choose the fan, because fans could actually be used as weapons, and have been used as weapons by kunoichi, the female ninja, making the fan actually thematically appropriate.

I know how to improvise and use my skills in situation and make a plan fast.

For the male Braixen, I would’ve just given him a tree branch that’s just big enough to play sword fighting with. Then, for Delphi’s, that branch would’ve turned into a kendo sword/wooden sword.

Fun fact: Once I got so angry at these types of videos I made a proper gender difference for Froakie that actually took inspiration from frogs. Like making the female bigger. These guys can’t do proper gender differences without being real weird about it? Do it yourself then!

@@irmaos._.milgrau1938 Yeah but the problem is that they designed these by using a lot of gender stereotypes like long lashes and dresses that don't have precedent in the original pokemon designs. Furthermore, they completely changed the Fenniken line, completely disregarding what they're based on. Pokemon takes care into their designs and that includes their gender differences. So what if Pokemon isn't real life? At the very least, all the Pokemon, regions, and more have been created with real life culture in mind. You can't just take a pokemon, slap a dress on them, disregard the designs, and call it a day.
