So fun fact, Kubo in his early career had a lot of moments where he almost gave up, one of then was when the one-shot for Bleach was rejected, he got a letter from Akira Toriyama telling him that he saw potential on him, to not give up, rework it, and try again... The man, the legend recognize the potential of Tite Kubo and gave him encouraging words, so he didn't give up on Bleach... That's truly amazing

@@agamotto5354 Also, from the very same video, about how Kubo struggled for few years to get though industry with something amazing, we could learn, that first character designed for Bleach was... Rukia and also, that Kubo loves to plan whole group of characters at once... that might be a reason, why you'll see enemies/allies in packs...
You already seen Gotei13... you heard from Shinji, there're Visored... You'll see more than 2 arrancars... and more packs of interesting characters... all of them having unique deisgn and personality

Ichigo being visibly depressed and vulnerable is one of the main reasons why I think he's one of the most relatable shounen MCs out there.
On that bit about Orihime's powers - I remember back when I was first reading, when Orihime and Chad got their powers in the first arc I was initially really confused/annoyed that they didn't get any sort of explanation like Ichigo and Uryu's did. So foolishly I googled to see if there actually was a reason and...spoiled myself rotten :P
Kubo's a lot smarter than a lot of people give him credit for - if something feels like its going unexplained, there IS an explanation out there later in the series.

Idk if I have a unique perspective on how Orihime's powers where handled I don't really interact with the fandom at large
But I essentially am of the mind that they took too long to actually do something with it, like Ulquiorra here kinda begins the phase where you get intrigued and think into the possibilities of it, then they talk a little bit more about it, give some minor use of it and that's kinda all they do, they set up some stuff for Chad when he goes to huecomundo, they give him the brazo izquierdo and the set up gets "sufficiently resolved" in the fullbring arc, but this arc absolutely mistreats Orihime, no power exploration, Chad at least gets some of that, she doesn't even get some catharsis against Mr gaslight (as I call him) and neither does Chad but he at least gets something, and then the big thing is, they imply (or at least it can be read like this) in this arrancar/espada arc that her powers might scale with will so if the reader/viewer stumbled into this idea there is a notion that she could literally step up at any moment in time and bc the manga/show is not even going to approach to her powers for a WHILE after that let alone challenge that in any way, it doesn't matter how her powers work, the idea that she kinda works like green lantern has been implanted and all of her Kurosaki-kuning becomes more exasperating and so does that part where they kinda break free from being "reverse false hydra'd" and they procede to not get any payback whatsoever for having their friendship with Ichigo warped so badly
Like yeah sure Ichigo's powers that we got early on are still being explored and recontextualized in ttybw but we at least had both an explanation that at the time sufficed and we had seen them being clutch, while Orihime gets a bunch of theories, does a thing but then Aizen is like "you know the ONE thing I brought you here to do? Nah, pass, I still need you as bait tho" and then we go on an arc that explores fullbrings, her set of powers... and she gets shafted, that's a whole lot of nothing
@@matiaspereyra9392 Fake Karakura Town literally proved how essential Orihime's powers in the battlefield and Aizen was smart enough to kept her locked away in Hueco Mundo. It also proved how Urahara was wrong for pushing her away, thinking her power wasn't important and that Squad 4 healing powers were enough.
You're looking at it way too surface level and not even understanding the whole aspect of it.
It's like you didn't even pay attention how much Orihime's power literally improved in the arc to a point where she can literally brought someone back from the dead. Even her presence and influence changed the perception of the Arrancars.
Remember to check the poems on the first page of each volume. Theyre for the most part written from the POV of the cover character and give good insight on 'em. The one on Volume 22 is especially good for Ulquiorra's character
I never realized how important the poems and little ending sketches were for just the symbolism of characters

Watching his video on soul society arc was like remembering conversations with my friends I had 15 years ago. feelsoldman
One thing that I really like is that from the Arrancar arc onwards, the series always has Ichigo dealing with some kind of issue regarding who he is, and who he wants to be, while also fighting physical battles. And the enemies of each arc tend to embody some kind of dark path that Ichigo could very well end up on.
That's what makes him such an interesting hero. His opponents tend to embody what he could've been if he didn't have a moral compass or if it's even slightly tweaked. Orihime acts as an angel on his shoulder as well, just as she does in terms of humanitarianism for the Bleach-verse as a whole regardless of allegiance.
Always loved it whenever new people get into bleach & seeing their reaction arc after arc
Ulquiorra is one of my favourite characters. "His perspective on everything is really interesting and his internal journey is beautiful."
I love Kubos foreshadowing. It is so subtle and I absolutly love it

@@imperialspy7204It was all laid out man it all just hinges on how much you are willing to trust certian charaters.
This part of the story has some of Kubo's coolest use of black/white, in showing how Ichigo gets mentally pulled away by the inner hollow. He's an incredible artist all around but taking advantage of that black-and-white contrast is easily Kubo's biggest strength (and part of why its named Bleach to begin with iirc!).
The Arrancar arc is pretty damn big, but it's my favorite in the whole series, and this is such a well done opening. Mirroring Byakuya and Renji's invasion in some ways, yet showing just how much has changed now for Ichigo, the mental torment he's under, how much more dire it all feels now that he's seen first-hand how bloody it all gets. Keep an eye out for more parallels to the Soul Society arc - the parallels and what they mean are all immensely fascinating.

These last two videos have me super excited to see his reaction to when everything is finally revealed and if he puts it together beforehand. Went through years of being told I was nuts by other fans only to be right. Everything you need is laid out in the first 3 arcs.
One of my biggiest gripes with the anime community was how bad ichigo was treated back in the day dimming him as a boring mc because he was not the stereotypical happy go lucky mc like naruto luffy goku, he got slander for years for not being that but other characters who were similar to ichigo got praise for being different and similar to him such a hypocrisy.
They were lucky the cavalry arrived with Kisuke and Yoruichi or things would've gotten far worse especially given Yammy's earlier massacre of the townspeople. Also like how we got to see Yoruichi's fierce assassin side. She's typically jovial yet when things get serious the killer from the past emerges, but now it's to protect rather than being a weapon for the corrupt nobility.
Adjuchas is pronounced "ahd/add(whichever you prefer)who-chus" it's a Spanish word so this guide doesn't even really do it justice, but it's as close a description as i can give with English sound lol
As cool fact: if you remember back them ichigo explains to rukia that his name means "the protector" and in this part of the story when rukia takes ichigo to orihime (you didnt mentioned this part tho) ichigo tells orihime that he will protect her using the exact same kanji as in his name. Just a cool detail because thats not how its usually written
It's always interesting hearing your thoughts about the way everything is unfolding. It's exciting to see how some of your predictions/side comments are spot on to future events and then others are the complete opposite of what happens. It makes me excited for future videos (like the twist with Isshin's character) where you come back and say "Boy, was I completely wrong and I love this because x".

And yeah Kubo have been open about how Ulquiorra and and Yammy is an homage to Vegeta and Nappa. Dragon Ball is not the biggest influence on Bleach (that would be Saint Seiya), but of course it is extremely important for any shonen manga.
Ulquiorra and Yammy's appearance reminded me a lot of Vegeta and Nappa's arrival on earth.
With this we were also introduced to the new power structure of the series.
Sidenote: the community has problems scaling Ulquiorra and Yammy
I really love that you started off by focusing Ichigo's mental state. His emotional depth is why Ichigo has always been my favorite shonen protagonist. Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of respect for the Luffys and Gokus who to me feel much more like mythological heroes. But I love that Kubo keeps Ichigo's psychology, whether he's hopeful or despairing, meaningful all the way to the end of the series.

Good point about what hollows think - funny to think back on every hollow attack from the first arc and imagine that, like Yammy, their whole perception of the human world was “lol this sux so boring”
watching someone experience this journey fresh in 2023 is so enthralling to me. Like I'm sitting here going "I can't wait til he sees this, I can't wait til this happens" even tho it happened for me over 10 years ago. You are in for a wild ride, it only gets more fun from here.

Cool to watch this with context and realize how much of a red herring the "20 brothers" were, since Ainzen actually only had about half a dozen Vasto Lordes with him. And knowing how strong those were, Hitsugaya was 100% correcting saying 10 of them would probably be enough for the Soul Society to be doomed.
Ahhh, this is wonderful. A lot of the story beats and excitement you're feeling is exactly how I felt when i was introduced to this series. In terms of Shonen and the big 3 at the time, I've always felt that Bleach handled those feelings of depression incredible well. Ichigo really does feel like the most grounded, realistic MC of the big 3 and its one of the major reasons ive been a fan for all these years. Im really happy to see you enjoying the series so much my man, keep at it!
Saw you had this series going on when I saw the thumbnail of your Aizen reveal episode show up in recs and decided to binge ya, and its real nice to see someone truly experiencing this series fresh and being KUBO'd, and that won't stop in regards to twists with some hints since even as the weakest planner of the big guys for better char designs he still does it well, in real time. Especially nice for me since me going through the stuff you've covered so far isn't as clear in mind given how far back it was but it certainly feels like my reactions to latter stuff. Though Aizen reveal reactions was the universal reactions from people.
That heart throb reaction is a very common one among the fanbase, even an old meme in regards to Kubo's holiday related art or for fun art making everyone look like models and its something he's still doing in how much he's a god at designs and giving characters fitting clothing for their personalities. Same as the anime OPs sometimes getting way too spoilery being a meme.
Can't wait to see your reactions to more of the Arrancar coming up since you've already showed my kind of taste in regards to chars and expect future stuff to be fun for you.
Your read through is gonna be a nice thing to watch while we caught up fans wait for next cour of the last arcs anime to come out, and you should be up with us by the final animated stuff since that's still like 2 years out or more.

The J is soft, so it's pronounced "Ad-hoo-chez". A fun detail in Bleach is how different factions are based around different languages, eg Soul Reapers being Japanese and Hollows being Spanish.
See, weird thing is adjuchas is not a word in any Spanish and checking the wiki (in Spanish) after the kanji it said it literally translates to "intermediate great hollow" and the pronunciation guide says it's ajūkasu which In English that would be "ah-joo-kah-sʊ" (ʊ being the short u that is almost non existent) granted it's for the japanese pronunciation but that's bc I think it's just japanese

Man I'm happy no one gave any spoilers so far. So I just want to give you some of my thoughts from my 6th grade year re-reading bleach(around the middle of Arrancar arc, because school library only had so many vol). Aizen's cryptic declaration to kill god, he was starring at one soul reaper specifically with looks of disgust, noticing the white cloth on Isshin's soul reaper uniform, and all of the cryptic talk about Ichigo by curtain characters.
It's interesting to hear that thought of someone as they are reading it and the questions that you bring up that I've known the answers for so long that are arcs away from where you are

It’s none really you’d kinda have to watch acouple of the anime episodes with ulquiorra he’s quite emotional and very calm calculated the very perfectly description of a “hollow”
I'm so happy when people do reactions to Bleach, but especially of the manga, because the anime is definitely not the greatest.
The only arc that is well managed from start to finish is FB
Other than that the first half of SS is fine after that they get recappy but tolerable and the arrancar-vizard part of what I consider an arc goes crazy on recaps but then after, what I imagine, backlash they switched to more traditional anime padding, but they had to pad like crazy which is how we got the noitora fight and the other fight that took so long to wrap up the aspect ratio changed
Hey, when you finish the manga watch the anime, Filler and all its a trip and is actually slightly different to the manga, though with some filler arcs I would recommend watching after the Arrancar arc

Aizen have 20 Arrancar but it was not mention how many of them were former Vasto lorde.
All of the 3 Menos species can become Arrancar but Vasto lorde Become stronger Arrancar.
One think to note there are not 20 vasto lorde , there are 20 arancars they could be of any level

This could be considered a light spoiler I guess it's just one of those things that you can begin to understand as you read into a series but has already been explained
The hollow hole is an integral part of the hollow it is basically the core of their being and I really like the hollows has a concept because of the hollow holes and what they mean how it's they're missing "heart" as in emotions or soul and the reason for the ravenous hunger is they are always looking and searching for this "heart" and that's a big part of why I absolutely fell in love with Ullquiorra's character
