This is one area I wouldn't encourage Au-pairs to try because Americans love the Court house and many children are followed by social workers especially those with special needs. There's a lot we're not exposed to as South Africans especially inclusion that American Public schools do to make sure all children get to stay in their specific homeschool as possible. Certain activities maybe interesting but may not be compensated according to workload plus the issue of not meeting the legal requirements for each State and not being able to clearly understand what State regulations are for children with special needs.

Yea, I hear what you are saying but most host families are way more involved with kids that have special needs. Involved in the sense of making sure you know what you are doing and we’ll trained to take care of their kids .
