It’s not even close to an Icelandic accent, it’s more danish/German. It’s very bad. And everyone in Iceland speaks perfect English.
@@conneroneill8506 its snl. they are going with stereotypes. if the production didnt want it like that, they'd have told him to do better or something. same with how people in the india speak english well but following the stereotypes, people acting like them always speak weird, emphasizing the consonants and lacking basic grammar skills.
I agree it was closer to an attempt at a Dutch or German accent. But over-anaylizingly (it's a word!), most Americans don't know one accent or culture from the other when it comes to different continental plates. The writers probably chose Iceland because Americans would think they have a laid back, weird culture obsessed with sex, Instagram, and wearing white, fur-inspired clothing, which isn't true, so an accurate accent was secondary.
