L❤VE the drone footage! The ice and snow is so beautiful!
So what have we learned today? … not to let Jim use the Bronco😂😂
Haha Linda. Cynthia absolutely will not let me touch hers and rightfully so. Mine is so scratched up already.
@@WingsandWheelsAlaska Now, the question that must be asked is who is having more fun with their Bronco??
I used to do this as a kid in Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado. We called it aired down and winter spinning. Sometimes we would pull a 50 ton dump truck inner tube and try to bounce each other off. Wouldn't do that part now! Still lots of fun. I enjoyed this video a lot! Thanks to you and Ms. Cynthia!
Hi Cynthia and Jim! I think I told you that my daughter and I flew to Anchorage last summer. We were going to drive up this summer, but stayed home to take care of our property (storms, wind, trees down, etc). We did get some amazing Northern Lights in St Paul, though!
Next summer we are considering driving to Fairbanks. It's the last item on my bucket list!!! Are you guys doing any future meet ups?
Driving on frozen lakes is so much fun. My youngest just got her permit, so as soon as it snows, we will go out to a dark empty parking lot, and learn how to do donuts ! I tell my kids that it's a lot like skiing. Controlled skids, and trusting yourself on ice.
Hope you guys had a great summer!
Best, Brenda
Congratulations Jim! The Raptor is awesome! Would love to see your review on it.
Jim, it's good to see you out and about, even if it's really cold outside. I liked that you mentioned that you grew up out there and that your family has a hunting cabin near there. One of these days, you should sit down by the fire and tell us all some of those stories. I'm confident that everyone would enjoy hearing them.
Seeing you drive right by the glacier was amazing! I've only been up close to glaciers a few times, and it's always incredible the blue that they are, and seeing you walk through the glacier was just magnificent. You're so lucky to be able to do things like that. The scenery with the mountains was also incredible. It truly is remarkable country up that way.
The night driving shots revealed one thing I've never liked about the LED headlights. There's a clear termination line where the light cuts off. It's not a problem in many applications, but on less-than-level roads, this gives oncoming drivers the feeling that you're flashing your high beams at them when you really aren't. The older halogens didn't have that problem.
Thanks for bringing us along Jim. Please be sure to tell Cynthia hi for me.
Hi Brian! Always great to hear from you! I love going out in that area. I’ll save the hunting stories until we get to sit around a fire together :).
I agree I am not a huge fan of LED lights either but it seems like they are the new “thing.” Did you see the moose when we were on the way back? The other Bronco had his brake lights on and it was crossing up into the brush. We saw about 15 out there but too far to get good shots of them. I wish it would have been a clear day but the snow made it more challenging. Hope you are doing well!
Hi Brian! I was just watching this video, and had the same thought about headlights. My Yukon needs some sort of upgrade before winter in Minnesota.
I love your posts and comments on Wings and Wheels. You are a really great writer, and I second all of your descriptions!
Brenda
@@brendag2891 Brenda, it's good to hear from you again. I trust you're enjoying the summer in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. I have moved to Arizona, about 100 miles north of Phoenix. Suffice to say, it's been something of an adjustment from Southern Missouri weather to what we have here. I appreciate your compliment on my writing. I always take the time to comment for Jim & Cynthia because they're phenomenal people and deserve the time and effort exerted to that end.
As for your Yukon, I'd recommend a small light bar which can be reasonably inexpensive from Tractor Supply. They have one made by Battle Armor that's 22" wide and curved so it throws the light wider. Obviously, this isn't to be used on the highways, but forest roads are where it's at for this. It costs $89.99 right now here, and ought to take a shop an hour or so to install for you. I have one on the front of my 1999 F-250 and LOVE it for desert driving.
Take care of yourself and keep smiling. 😃
Fun!
But would have been even more fun in the Van. LOL
Trying to ease up a little bit on wear and tear on the van. The van can make it as we have done that but if I have an alternate to take out there then that’s the plan unless we were staying out there!
But wouldn't it be fun to do donuts in the ice?! (yes, I understand tho) :) @@WingsandWheelsAlaska
Beautiful, scary, and exciting. Good to see you back. Yukon and Alaska are my favorite places. I tent camped there and back twice . Now in my 80s can't anymore . I travel thru you now. Been with you since you picked up your van in Oregon.
To cold for this FL boy lol cool video stay safe
Definitely was cold! We are starting to warm up slightly now though (in the 20’s). Spring is just around the corner!
Looks like fun, hope to get up there with my 87 Grand Wagoneer one day.
You would love it!
@@WingsandWheelsAlaska visited the area twice, just need a job change.

😂are you coming back soon?
We have a rough video sketched out but have had some personal things going on and some writers block. We are getting ready to head out and shoot some new stuff.
Good we have missed you
What CB radio(s) do you use in your Revel & Bronco??
Hi Tom. We use GMRS Midland mxt575.
@@WingsandWheelsAlaska If you're looking for some content, a video on how you have your radio installed and wired would be very interesting to have available.
