    Loved the face Amanda made when she sipped the crab butter! I typically get Alaskan king crab legs with mild sauce and garlic at Boiling Crab. Love the variety in the 6 pounder. Would not have expected the mussels or clams. Mahalo for taking us with you. We can definitely tell your camera is an upgrade. Looking forward to the next video 🌺

    My must have in a seafood boil is potato, corn, shrimp and either clams or mussels. I also do crab legs if it’s payday.
    I love crayfish but my girl always vetoes that choice.
    It’s super easy to make at home for half the price.

The last time I was in Hawaii I went to Karai Crab and it was good, nice to see there are other seafood boil places to check out as well. The orange mochi balls are made from sweet potatoes and the purple/gray mochi balls are made from taro. My favorite treat there is the signature icy grass jelly - you pour the tiny container of creamer over it. Meet Fresh is reknown for their sweet potato/taro mochi balls and grass jelly. Felix… Amanda is correct. LOL - it’s not eaten like shave ice - You are supposed to mix your entire treat before enjoying. I’m not sure why they put the shave ice on top - it’s usually on the bottom and topped with the goodies instead.

    • @AmandaFelixEats
      @AmandaFelixEats  Před 2 lety +1

    Oh wow that platter of seafood looks incredible 😍 I think if you’re going to spend on seafood, go the whole yarn and order up big cause it is pricy, and best to make the most of it. I’ve never tried soft shell crab before, but lobster and king crab is my favourite because the meat is so sweet. Lol Felix sometimes I need a big when I eat also. Proof of enjoying your meal

    WOW!!!! I have eaten at the famous The Fish Market of Maryland in Clinton, some upscale seafood places at Baltimore Harbor and Red Lobster restaurants in New York area. None of them had anything that came close to the platter you had. /// Now, with that thought in mind, the only thing that can top the platter you got, would be an entire king crab intact, boiled in a hot tub sized cauldron.

I've been to meet fresh here on the mainland Canada a handful of times and those type of shave ice desserts usually are more syrupy than yours. Hopefully Oahu will also get a Blackball dessert Taiwanese spot too. That is another chain dessert restaurant from Taiwan which wife and I prefer. Aloha from Canada!

    All the seafood looks fabulous! But very messy. Without gloves, I'm sure your fingers must have smelled like seafood and sauces all evening. BTW, "roe" means fish or shellfish eggs. The creamy yellowish or greenish innards or guts are called "miso" in Japanese, and "tomalley" in culinary English. Some people say you should not eat it because it could contain toxins, but in the Japanese community in Japan and Hawai'i, I think most seafood lovers prize the miso. (I don't like innards of any kind, so I pass.)

    • @AmandaFelixEats
      @AmandaFelixEats  Před 2 lety

      Tomalley! That's the word! You're right, it isn't for everyone. Amanda didn't like it as much but it was a must for me 👍
