Always had issues accelerating. Grew up playing on outdoor rinks. One thing that I’ve always lacked is acceleration. Zuperior done today, can’t wait to try it out
How are you liking the Zuperior? I personally like the stability of the Quad but I definitely felt the advantage of a forward pitch the Zuperior offers.

@@ice.warehouse I only skate on Sundays now, and I didn’t get to try it 😭😭 Super Bowl cancelled our skate. Our outdoor rinks are shot so I gotta wait another week lol
@@ice.warehouse But the zuperior does pitch you forward? My only problem in hockey is I’m flat footed and my weight sits on me heels a lot

The transitions from radii within the quad feel clunky to me. Ellipse seems to make the quad redundant. After skating on both the Quad and the Ellipse for a while I definitely found the Ellipse to be the superior profile. Having said that I have since switched to a 9/10 combo and I find it far smoother and maneuverable.
That's what's so fascinating with profiling because personal opinion is such a big factor. I don't recall if I specifically said this in the video but I vividly remember feeling more comfortable on the Quad compared to the Ellipse but those zones were more pronounced. However, I did like the smoothness of the Ellipse, so some sort of combo where the transitions between the four zones on a Quad was further integrated into one another sounds like a perfect profile for what I'm looking for.

Quad profile with 5/8. Bauer MX 3. Player (me) is a good allround skater ( i like to think). Not disaster but i really didnt feel much difference than standard profile, quality aftermarket blades. What i did feel was some instability in some stopping situations. Hard cornering was fine but some stopping or speed scrubbing situations felt like i had a nick on the blade or a piece of tape halfway down the blade. I would feel this intermittently. Resharpened today will give another 5hr cycle starting tomorrow. Early days so willing to stick with it. Any thoughts.thanks.
You might need to play around with the hollow since profiling does affect how the "sharpness" feels on the ice. Let us know if resharpening fixed it!

New Bauer Supreme X5. Starting Profile for older skater (60)? Stock profile I have issues being able to stop using trailing foot. Basically I can only use forward skate edge to stop. Balance at 60 is different than when younger so any guidance is appreciated as Intry to squeeze more games out of this worn out body. LOL.
I'd definitely recommend starting with the Quad profile to start. I found a lot more stability in that profile especially compared to Ellipse or Zuperior.

How about some one that’s only Ben skating for 4 years what do you recommend, just because my balance is off at times on the ice thanks !
We would recommend starting off with the Ellipse profile! That will help your balance through all of the different skating positions and strides.

I thought profiling was based on what position you played and how tall you are. I'm am a 50 year old rec hockey player. I'm 6'3 and play defence. I just ordered new Bauer Vapor skates. Do I need a profile? I understood factory rocker is neutral and it has a 10 ft radius. It should allow good turning and good stability right?
Profiling is based on your skating technique and what would benefit your style. You'd most likely be on Quad profile, since profiling does cater to positions too. And yes, the factory profile on your Bauer skates have a 10ft neutral profile, which most skaters still use, so you'd be just fine! I recommend getting an extra set of steel, and profiling those so you can test it out!

Do not get extra steel. A profiler gets set to x amount of passes. Say it takes 50 to profile. If you hate it, just do 50 passes at neutral. It will take very little steel off to revert them back to neutral.

You'll want to get the Quad profile that matches your skate size. Each profile has a template that corresponds with a skate size. We have all of that information on our website!

Quad vs Zuper on vapor x4 with a 5/8 sharpen? 6' 225lbs forward. Had the skates out today without a profile and 1/2 sharpen. Didnt feel the greatest. Skates had to much bite on the ice and no acceleration. Play more of a power forward style game and have a power stride. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thx

I just bought new skates and the blade was awful. I play more on my toes and I could tell it was tall in the heel. I had a local shop “profile” them and they’re a lot better after one skate. However there isn’t much on the toe still, plus felt like I had no acceleration. Opinions what I should do? They were sharepened to 1/2” hollow. Being 6’1” 160lbs
Hey Daniel! I would highly suggest investing in a much better blade like JRZ. Stock steel is usually of low quality so swapping those out for a premium grade blade would be the way to go in my opinion. JRZ comes with added height at both the toe and heel, which sounds like what you need as well as it offers a longer lifespan. I'm not sure which profile you got, but the Zuperior profile sounds like it would be right up your alley and a good addition to the JRZ. You can then use your current steel as a backup pair!

Still don't understand what he means by different sizes of profile (starting 6:53 in video). I know my runner length (280 mm) but what profile size would I get for Ellipse profile if I want more stability as a defenseman?
he's referring to the different Ellipse sizes, like XS, SM, MD, LG, etc. At 280mm, I'd recommend starting at the Ellipse MD but if you've tried that already, then the Ellipse LG would give you a bit more stability.

What type of player uses rocker sharpen skates? I play forward . Would this help me with speed?
The Triple Radius (Zuperior) is great for forwards who rely on quick accelerations and turning. The Quad or Ellipse is better for straightaway speed and balance.

What hollow is most common in Finland?
In sweden it is, or at least close to.
