Thank you for sharing this build. My father built our garage using old army ammunition boxes. He strengthened them much the same way as you have. He used chicken mesh wire and then stuccoed the outside. Looked great and is still standing after 60+ years.
Hello. I'm from Russia. Respect to you. You are a great builder. I was inspired by you. I will probably open a company for the construction of barns and sheds. especially now we have a pallet costs $ 1.5. they have become much cheaper after the sanctions against Russia. used to be $7. wood has tripled in price.😅
My father built an entire 12x12 shed out of reclaimed pallets and recently my brother and I built a compost heap out of dunnage pallets. Normalguy takes pallet usage to the next level. Awesome video series. Thank you for sharing. I eat this $hit up!
Life is to live with pride and respect to all and anything you can relate to. Andrew you're a humble and great full person. Always keep your head held high.
Took like 6 months but I built two buildings with pallets walls. Super solid. After putting plastic on the outside and then 4x8 sheets of finished outer wall, I packed the pallet with scrap demo insulation I found at a building demo. Hundreds of square feet of it free- was lucky. This was like six years ago when board lumber was cheap than now ( damn mills are hoarding and there’s proof of yards full of lumber pictures).
Hey, wood prices are really high and it makes sense to build from pallets. I have now built two buildings and a couple of horse shelters as well. All the best to you, and thank you!
I enjoyed your video very much, I look forward to the rest of the series. I do agree some nails would prove to be a longer lasting hold and some metal strapping to hold pallets together would also be very beneficial. Thanks for sharing! :)
Thank you! we all learn on the job and we will get better. right now I'm working on the roof, so the second part should come in the next few weeks.I also have to go to paid work ;) Thank you!
This is awesome I love watching stuff like this. I've always wanted to build a pallet hut or a shed but unfortunately I need a bigger garden. Small gardens here in the UK 🇬🇧 especially newly built homes 🏡 😂👍
I built one in 2004 still standing straight, it's like a tank , hardwood lasts ,I used steel joiners at all connections ,pre drill , lay straps and drill and more screws, it's heavy I bet , was a bitch to insulate, had to cut pieces place between rows, I sheated inside with cheap pine boards from a sawmill, built pallet work tables, bench, wall benches, barn board floors , and a roller barn door ,woodstove , it heated easy and love it, would need a crane to ever move the elephant 🐘. Lol. Good Video, brought me memories
First of your videos to pop up om my home page. I want to first say thanks for not turning it into a music video like so many do. Thank you!!!!! now I must say that those are some really nice pallets. Well deserving for building purpose. Good job with the build.
Nice, I get pallets for free at my job. Have shared many and built fences as well as sun decks with the boards. Then I have also sawed up many more firewood
For my large shed I used free pallets from a local plastic sheet stockist, they were 3 mtr x 2 mtr, tannalised fence posts for the corners and a top and bottom layer, dropped rockwool down the gap, used plywood from a building site fence on the inside and feather edge on the outside, snug as a bug,
Thank you! that's exactly how it is, I started building with them already two years ago, I built a pallet barn for my horses. Go see the videos please ;) Thanks again!
@@normalguydoesitall €2,000? Now you’re being silly. Just 46m of framing timber would replace the work the pallets are doing. Is untreated 4x2 €43.00 per meter?
In UK we dig out at least a spade depth of topsoil and shaker plate the subsoil. A layer of crushed rock goes next with more whacker action. Only then is the concrete laid. One course of brick with DPC layer or a mortar waterproofing helps avoid rain water running under the walls. Before anyone complains, I am aware that houses need much more substantial groundwork.

I've done my fair share of upcycling so I am not one bit against it, I built a chicken coop from pallets.... well kind of. I built the frame from 2x2 lumber because I had it from another project and not too expensive, skinned it with 1/4 inch plywood (also leftovers) and then used an old tarp (still in good condition) to protect the plywood and frame from the elements and then lot of time and effort removing the planks from the pallets and reusing them as lap-siding. It turned out great and because of how the pallet wood was treated I haven't had to do anything, I have thought about painting it but I really like the natural look and aging of the wood. I built some clubhouses as a child with pallets and learned a few things then, I personally would've overlapped the the pallets and windows so that no vertical lines line up and I know that would eliminate anchor points but as you did on the roof line you could put blocking in to make new anchor points. With that being said I like your idea and look forward to seeing the end product. Subscribed!
I was expecting to see a poorly scrapped together shanty. But I have to say, I expect that thing to be pretty tough when it’s done. All that pallet wood hidden in the walls will make it strong enough to withstand just about anything that gets tossed its way. May have taken a few extra screws, but it’s cheaper than all the lumber costs, assuming you got the pallets free, or cheap.
Hey, pallets are very cheap for me, I like to build like this, I've done it before. and it's cheaper that way, good to hear that someone knows what wood costs. Thank you!
I built a decent size shed using only pallets, I broke the pallets down first to close up the worst of the gaps, oh and about 10 tubes of caulk to fill in the smaller gaps.

Hello. How do you deal with the mold? I already think I see some dark mold on a few pallets in the corner. Even my HT EPAL pallets get moldy due to weather here.
There is a reason why nails are used rather than screws in construction - the nails are able to flex with the load of the building whether it is wind rain or snow. over time the screw shears and breaks causing failure.
My first impression was, I find it hard to believe that a building permit was issued for this addition but then I noticed the metric dimensions. In general resident construction is done using Imperial measurements in the USA
Hey, believe it or not, there is, and the barn also has a permit. what difference does it make what is inside the wall. it's a wooden frame building and once the finishes are done you can't guess what's in the wall ;) Thank you!
In Europe, the building codes are actually strict, but when you're building something under 40 square meters, it's considered a additional build, which indeed has more lax codes, as it can't be designated as a living space etc.
