I fixed it easily after the hard upside down crash by just replacing the main small screw with one I had laying around the shop. Back up in the air and training on this great beginner 3D heli :)

Hey again everyone. I had to make the video private for a bit until I fixed that silly unedited 10 minutes of main gear replacement. All good now. Sorry you had to hear my burping and see my repetitive out takes. I'll be more careful in the future. Aloha and enjoy the review :)

Quick tip with these 3D capable helicopters.
The 50% throttle point is your friend when you're attempting tricks.
When at 50%, the motor is running at full power, but you aren't deflecting the rotors up or down.
This way it won't shoot off away from you while you're mid-trick. Make sure you restore power before you hit the ground!
This works whether you're in "Acro" or "3D" modes.
You can think of it like Air Mode on your acro quad.

SO much thanks for your review. I have flown a V950 for a few years and LOVED all and everything about it. It really IS the best, micro heli EVER.
When I saw the 950, what held me off is the tail motor arrangement. Stupid of me. So finally, I went and ordered one. Haven't got it yet but I ran into other videos where a guy kept shilling that it was junk and fragile.
I was discouraged until I found your presentation. I must say, they should hire you to do this professionally.
It's been a real bad week and until I found you, I thought I'd have to bring home a six pack for after supper.
    THANK YOU EXPONENTIALLY.

Have you tried Emax E08 MA.ll [ metal gear analog servo, cost $6 and some cents ] I am doing now and waiting for one servo to complete. You have to open the bracket of servos holder wider and clip off both servo mounting ears off to fit the holes, pretty straight forward and fit very nice. when I finished this servo mods, I will post on you tube.

Good job for your first time flying 3D Dustin, i have this heli and it does fly really well. Always remember before you go inverted get a little more altitude, that way you will have more time to make any correction. Once you are inverted, you have to remember your orientations and the position of the sticks and you will be fine.

I love this video in it's edited version, You said biffed it. I have not heard that in 30 years. Lol... But I'm thinking the unedited version would have been even more amusing. Long story short, I have tons of Realflight sim time and bought a used Align Trex 550 yesterday that flies beautifully but I dont have the nutz to do my first inverted flight with it and decided based on your review to go for this model. For about $150 rtf with 4 batteries it will be way cheaper than one soft crash with my Trex...
Keep making good videos and I'll subscribe to see if I hear anything in the future like dude, rad, or knarly that remind me I'm not the only semi old guy that still loves RC stuff.

Good Job!!! Your at the same level i am with Helicopters. You stayed upside down a little bit longer than me though. But i learned somethings in this video.First gain more altitude before trying tricks and second , If you read the comment from Joshua C. He said 50% throttle point is your friend when you're attempting tricks.Because it's a mind thing. When you flip upside down you panic and forget everything is opposite. But if you keep it at 50% throttle when you flip. Then just worry about the left sticks. 3rd but should be first is Trim everything and watch if it is too windy to fly. I was thinking about buying a BNF. Because i the V977 and V931 both great helicopters and a little beat up right now. I hope you bought feathering shafts. That will throw the blades out of balance.Hope your flying 3D by now and Thanks For Sharing..

Great review and I have to say you done really well if that was first attempt at flying 3D. I suspect you can fly acro with drones as most people who fly in stability would really struggle with a heli in 3D mode at there first try. As other people here suggested the V977 is an excellent beginner collective pitch heli as it's cheap and crashes well without damage 👍🏻

Great video! What problems have you come across since this video? I have this and am pretty frustrated with it. Although I believe in you get what you pay for lol. Right out of the box the front servo had a bad gear. Crashed 2 feet offthe ground because of the servo and bent the main rotor shaft and sheared the main gear bolt. It was a real pain getting the bolt out of the shaft. I might as well fix it instead of throwing it in the trash so I ordered all 3 metal gear servos. Hopefully that won't happen again.

It’s called 3D mode or Idle up 1 or 2, at center left stick there is no pitch on the main rotor blades pushing up on left stick will start to give it positive pitch, push down on left stick give it negative pitch but keeps the motor still spoiled up that’s why I can fly upside down

  • @crispy-k
    @crispy-k Před 6 lety +5

There's one thing i just hate with all these RC helis and drones.
The yaw is on the same stick as you accelerate on. Which i've found to be really annoying sometimes since you either accidentally give it some yaw when accelerating or decelerating, or accelerate/decelerate while giving it some yaw left or right.
I've played a pc game called Arma 3, some sort of millitary simulator. I use a playstation 3 controller to play.
On the front you have 2 triggers, one left, one right.
Then you have 2 joysticks on top.
The 2 front triggers are used to accelerate, decelerate. (assigned to same axis so you can't do both at the same time)
Left stick to yaw left and right.
Right stick for pitch front, back, and roll right and left.
It makes it so much more precise and easier to use since each separate logical function (up down, left right, pitch front back side to side) is on each their respective "button/axis".
If i buy one of these one day, i hope i can figure out a way to use a ps3 or ps4 controller. Maybe mod it to add some switches to turn on 3d, alt hold etc...
Nice video and nice little heli ;)

Thanks, I'll be ordering something like this once I get better at flying my V913 and V944. Incidentally, the V944 is very unstable, even though the gyro appears to be working, the servos react when I tilt the heli after binding on a level surface. I haven't been able to fly it successfully at all. Any idea what the problem could be? There is some play in the main rotor assembly, maybe that's what's causing it. Any suggestions welcome! Does the transmitter have an output (svideo or aux) to connect it to the simulator? I couldn't see any socket at the back side, but in some images in google, there's an 3.5mm female jack at the right bottom of the back side.

Hey Dustin. Hello from the UK! Long time no see. Hope you and your family are doing well during these strange times.
I just ordered one of these V950. I am new to 6CH flybarless Helis. A complete beginner! The RTF One battery version from Bangood. Do they use a XT60 connector?
I am looking for a better balance charger and some longer lasting batteries ? I have seen some 11.1V 25C or 30C 2000+ mAH ones.
Also is there anyone that can make any Scale Fuselage or bodies for this Helicopter do you know ?
Thanks Dustin. If you can help me. Cheers.

Everybody burps. Some hold championships about that.
That aside, could you consider defishing the videos? (correcting the ultra-wide angle lens distortion)

Can you switch the flight mode between 3D on 6g during the flight, or do you have to restart the helicopter every time?

Dustin can you explain Hover Debugging and how it works? When I try to hover the Heli acts more like a basket ball up and down and up and down with very little throttle input any suggestions. Also after a couple successful flights I no longer have much right cyclic, swashplate looks level, just sitting there I have full left right stick movement but after the blades spin up almost no right cyclic. Any help or suggestions from you or your viewers?
