  • The Hinterland Dress Pattern by Sew Liberated is a size inclusive sewing pattern that comes in sizes 0-34. This pattern is a firm favorite in the sewing community for a reason! It is very wearable, has different views including sleeveless, short sleeved, and three quarter length sleeves. You can find the pattern here sewliberated.com/products/hin.... You can buy this pattern as a PDF or printed.
I sewed my Hinterland Dress in a plum colored cotton that I purchased from Five Eighths Seams in Charleston, SC. I sewed a straight size 22. I lowered the bust dart by about 2 inches and I incresed the length of the skirt 3 inches. (though in hindsight I should have only lengthened the skirt by 2 inches. I am 5'4" tall.
I the video I am wearing the Cielo Top from Closet Core Patterns in a size 20. You can find that pattern here closetcorepatterns.com/produc...
if you have any questions about sewing the Hinterland, leave a question/comment in the discussion box below! I love to talk sewing.

Thank you! I am loving the bangs too. My hair grows so fast that the bangs disappear on me.

Hello from England. I am cutting out the pattern this afternoon and I am really excited to start making my first Hinterland. I love your fabric choice.

Hello from sunny South Carolina! Thank you! I really like the purple/plum. Just a tad too warm for the fabric now. Will be perfect for late fall and winter. Let me know how your Hinterland turns out!

Love that you suggested only doing the bodice as a Muslin. I love your Hinterland dress color and your dress is beautiful.

I have watched tutorials that day you should add skirts to your muslins because it can change the fit. Your dress turned out beautiful.

I could see where the weight of the skirt could change how the bodice hangs. I am very happy with my Hinterland.

Hello from Ireland! Love your dress! I have the exact measurements of their pattern for the size 22UK; for linen fabric, how many meters do you think I could use for their sleeveless dress pattern? many thanks!

Let me see what kind of notes I took on that!

I just checked my notes and the only note I wrote was I love it. If you are looking to save fabric, the dress very easily pulls on over your head. I am sorry I did not take better notes when making it.

I am in the midst of sewing the hinterland dress, but am confused by the neckline facing. Do you know why we were supposed to iron it in half before sewing it on? Because of that I am thinking that the fold of the facing needs to be above the neckline creating a separate strip as you would on a t-shirt. But I see that your facing is entirely behind the neckline, which looks nice.

Just now seeing your message. Do you still need help with this?

Thank you for discussing the Hinterland. I've made this once, and it's a dress I can imagine would be really useful in my closet.... I was just swimming in the bodice. This was when I was assuming, I guess, that patterns were all drafted with a B cup, and I've since found a few that use a C. I was able to take out the darts completely and I do wear it, but it's been 'in the corner' because I don't know whether to do a SBA (have never had to do that before), or just re-draw the front bodice without a dart. Any thoughts? I should say my first one was a sleeveless version, and I would really like to make a short-sleeved one. Happy sewing!!

I would try a small bust adjustment to bring it to a B cup. Put the dress on and pinch out the problem areas to help decide whether you may also want to go down a size.
