    The best tape deck ever made, without any doubt. Better than the Dragon. Still kicks nowadays with unsurpassed quality! Far beyond the others Mr Nakamichi gave to us this wonderful creation..... Thanks for up loaded this video 😊😊

    0:10 chrome tape (II), 3:14 metal tape (IV). You'll have to win the lotto in order to own a deck like this.

    Any difference in sound between this deck and the limited version?

    • @sergeyshevchuk3412
      @sergeyshevchuk3412  Před 5 lety +5

      Limited is 4-5 times more expensive, than black. But Gold version does not play 4-5 times better than the regular version.
      I have compared 5 black to one Limited. Limited plays a little more transparent. I think that it is just because 1000ZXL has the best playback head among all Nakamichi models. 1000ZXL Limited has the playback head that was selected from the best heads.
      1000ZXL is the best cassette deck in the world! 1000ZXL Limited just emphasizes it once again.

      @@sergeyshevchuk3412 Thank you for your answer. I have been wondering about this since 1983 when I saw both of them in a store in Germany. I would be happy with a black or maybe a CR-7. I heard its is almost as good a a black.

    I always wanted a Nakamichi Dragon. What is better this or the Dragon?

    • @sergeyshevchuk3412
      @sergeyshevchuk3412  Před 4 lety +2

      Hi!
      Dragon is a very good sounding cassette deck. Sometimes even a recording made on 1000ZXL plays more interesting on the Dragon. But it will never made records better than 1000ZXL. Anyway 1000ZXL has the best localization of musical instruments, more accurately transmitting a sound picture and it plays closer to the original.
      I have a Dragon and 1000ZXL in my collection. Both machines are in perfect technical condition. About 400 Naks has passed through my hands. I grade them in the following positions:
      1000ZXL,
      700ZXL (better recording), DRAGON
      (better playback),
      CR-7,
      RX-505 (because it has the same playback amplifier as the Dragon has),
      58x, 68x series, ZX-7,9, LX-5
      other Naks.
      I don't positioned any Naks of the 1st generation here.

      Как по мне, то деки Накамичи вообще шумят меньше любого другого конкурента. А впрочем, что такое шум? Пластинка трещит и шумит куда громче, так что при записи на кассету что источник, что оригинал играют одинаково.

    The 680 sounds more natural

    • @sergeyshevchuk3412
      @sergeyshevchuk3412  Před 3 lety +1

      Dear Kevin!
      I think you're wrong. More than 450 Nakamichi decks passed through my hands. And amoung them I had about 30 samples of 1000ZXL and about 25 of 680ZX. But any 680ZX doesn't sound better than 1000ZXL.
      If you liked more the sound of 680ZX, then this suggests that your 680ZX had a very good condition of heads, perhaps so you say that 680ZX is better than 1000ZX. But even during production years when Nakamichi produced heads for ther cassette decks the heads with better condition and better parameters were installed on the top models!
      And one more note: if 680ZX was better than 1000ZXL why it was sold for more than 2 times less than 1000ZXL?
      I'll accept if you'll say that RX-505 is better than 680 or 680 is better than LX-5 but not better than 1000ZXL.

    $2,500 dollar analog cassette deck circa 1982, can't even approach the sound quality, freq. response and dynamic range of a $150 portable Sony DAT digital tape recorder from 1994.

    • @sergeyshevchuk3412
      @sergeyshevchuk3412  Před 4 lety +5

      I agree. And CD has even better technical parameters than DAT.
      However, we listen to music to get emotions, not technical characteristics!
      Any top of the line Sony DAT 1500 or 2000 which cost about $2000 now, doesn't play as emotionally as Nakamichi 1000ZXL, much less SONY DAT for $150.
      I will tell you even more that any cassette deck, including Nakamichi 1000ZXL, doesn't sound better than the original on the CD or especially on the vinyl.

      @@sergeyshevchuk3412 You should have stopped at "I agree". That was enough for me. And thank you for your response. Let me tell you something, Sergey. I like the best of both worlds: I listen to music using components that have superlative technical characteristics (but not necessarily the most expensive!), so that I may experience the greatest emotional impact from it. However (there is always a "however"), blind tests of so-called "elite audiophiles" have proven over and over again that 50% of the time these soi-disant "experts" get "top of the line vinyl" recordings vs. "CD/DAT/digital" recordings wrong. In other words, they can't tell the difference. For my part, I can't tell the difference either, to be honest. 44 KHz pulse code modulation is 44 KHz pulse code modulation. If you have any further objections, I suggest you take it up with the Nyquist Theorem. By the way, I have a fairly extensive vinyl collection (over 450 records), and my current setup consists of: a Technics SL-1200 turntable, Shure and Empire cartridges, Teac A-7300 reel to reel deck, GoldenEar Technology Triton Five speakers, Yamaha A-S701BL integrated amplifier, and a cheap Pioneer CD player from 2012 that I listen to most of the time (I have over 600 CDs). Back in 2012, I A-B tested a bunch of CD players, ranging from cheap ($150) to "high end" (> $800) and I couldn't tell any difference whatsoever in my musical enjoyment or perceived sound quality, for that matter. Surprise!
