    The taurus' are terrific cars! Those engines easily go over 300k miles. I recently purchased a mint 2003 Taurus Wagon and I can't wait to get rid of my problematic 2015 Mercedes c300.... Under 40k miles on it and had over 12 major engines repairs... I'd be broke if it weren't for the warranty!

      My very first car was a 2002 Ford Taurus and was in my family since it was brand new. At the time I knew literally nothing about a car I couldn’t tell you the difference between an alternator and a spark plug. I didn’t get an oil change for 18k miles, I had no idea when the last one was before I was given the car, and never put a drop of oil into the car. When I brought it in for its first and only oil change the employees looked so scared when I pulled in and asked if it was going to explode. That car turned on every single day and was used almost every day for delivering pizza and my silly joyrides. So many memories in that car I wish I still had it. Of course I had a lot of issues with me not taking car of it but it was surprisingly never more than a $200-$300 fix. Sorry for the super long and horribly worded response these cars are amazing and I had to share my experience. Definitely wanna get one again one day! I’ve got an ‘08 Honda Civic that I wanna get to about 250k miles before getting a new one

    I’ve got an 07 Taurus SE. Got it in July of 2023 w/ 183k miles. She’s needed lots of repairs and maintenance, but the interior is clean, air blows cold, heat works, and the transmission shifts fine. She’s well on her way to 200k+ miles.

    I currently have a 2001 Ford Taurus SE. Ot has 149,000miles on it. I bought it 2 years ago. I really like it. It's in getting new rocker panels and needs a gas tank and a tie rod for the inspection. That's it. Lol. I'd like to see how long this car is going to last. I'm current driving a 2012 and still love my car more. Haha. Thanks for the video on the Taurus I'd love to hear more about your car and what you end up doing. GL!

      I actually sold my taurus. (Miss it so much) The guy who bought it loves it so much and sold his truck. I got ripped off by a guy who was going to do the rockers so I didn't want to take out more money. The guy who bought it put new rockers on it and a gas tank. We see it every now and then driving around so it's still going strong. Now my son wants one when hes 16 (14 now).

  • @channell11

    The Ford Taurus embodies the idea of "Not the car you want, but the car you need." I've got a 2004 SEL that we bought in 2017 as a beater/extra car for $2300. At 183,000 miles now it's never broken down or left me stranded. It gets regular maintenance and keeps on going. At this point its value as transportation far exceeds its book worth. Those DPFE sensors either clog or melt-common failure. The auto headlight problem is a result of a "smart module" that has a relay that goes bad. It's generally not woth replacing.

    Nothing wrong with buying ex rentals or fleets! You know these companies keep the maintenance top notch at every point, it's their money makers they have to! They are probably better kept then any personal vehicle! I have owned several and no issues what so ever!

    • @MatthewSerta1
      @MatthewSerta1  Před 3 lety

      I worked for enterprise for 3 years. Maintenance is nearly non existent. New cars don’t break even with 30,000 mile oil in them.

    Older Ford Taurus is one of the best cars on the road. Hauls as much as a Ford Ranger, handles like a sports car, and can't break em from high RPM, and easy to repair when wrecked!!! Traction control sucks, but put good tires on it, you will be ok

    My 2000 Ford Taurus finally went to the junk yard two weeks ago. Rear suspension finally blew out and couldn't be replaced because the car frame was so badly rusted.
    Not sad to see it go. My A/C worked OK, but the heating sucked so bad that it made driving during the winter miserable. Took an eternity to defrost my windows. Powered windows stopped working. Car was a very bumpy ride (bad suspension), and the car would sometimes jerk while in idle. Not to mention it had no cupholders and a crack windshield. Good riddance.

    I was looking at modified factory stereos with an aux input. I noticed that the the previous years have the same bezel around it and manual temp knobs. I am wondering if you might replace the electronic controls with the previous manual one. The blend door actuator motor can be tricky in my experience it has to be lined up just right. For example the temperature turned to full heat with the actuator connector plugged in so the motor moves to the heat side, manually move the blend door by hand with pliers and then installing it with the door and actuator both set to the same thing. If that makes sense. My cd changer likes to scratch cds in and out of the magazine. It also chirps and skips pretty good. I think if the dmv radio works that's fine with me.

    • @MatthewSerta1
      @MatthewSerta1  Před 6 lety

      anthony san francisco it blows heat even when set to AC. Some sort of control module went out which is $400 just for the part. Guess that’s what happens when you go climate control. I’d do it again tho. Lol

    • @Anthony94116
      @Anthony94116 Před 6 lety

      It doesnt matter if you blast the ac and it blows heat. If the modules were broken the ac unit itself wouldnt be even blowing wind.. If the compressor as well is rotating then of course the unit in its entirety is fine.

    You mentioned having a SHO engine in this 2000. The 3.4 engine stopped production in 1999. You are probably referring to the 3 liter DOHC engine. Ford's other engine was the 3 liter OHV Vulcan engine, not as powerful. You're probably not still driving this car, but I'm retired and own a 99 with an OHV and a 98 SHO with the 3.4 liter. Like the reliability of Fords from 1996 to 2007 when they were simple to work on.
