    The SAF Guardsmen are the maritime land expeditionary spearhead of the Singapore Army. Always ready to strike, they specialize in rapid deployment, heliborne and amphibious operations, maneuver warfare, and urban combat.
    To aid them on land, the Singapore Guards rely on the agile and swift Light Strike Vehicle, which saw its introduction back in 1998. So let’s take a look at what this humble little buggy has to offer!
    P.S. Apologies if my voice sounds blocked in the video, had a slight flu when recording this.

    I thought I was watching a Singapore Army recruitment video at the beginning... it was so professionally done and inspiring! Once again, informative video and great coverage! Happy to see you back and making videos!

      Also side note, do you play Star Citizen?

      @@ScaledDownHistory Yes I do, how'd you guess that?! I used to play but stopped due to how slow the progress is in releasing the game. Are you (guys? Im assuming you are a team) in the verse yourself?

    • @ScaledDownHistory
      @ScaledDownHistory  Před 2 lety +1

      @@richardlawson726 I am in fact in the verse myself! I realised you may play as I saw you commenting on my friend's video, Squadron 69. I worked on that project too, providing my own recording, voice acting, and "acted" in it as a few of the characters. I am usually only active after each new update or if Xenothreat or an event comes online. I joined in the fray late, around two years ago during Invictus haha.
      P.S. I actually run this channel myself, though my friends do help me proofread my scripts or vet my images before I upload them on Facebook and Instagram. I write, film, edit everything myself :)

      @@ScaledDownHistory Ahh, I see you're into Sci-fi as well! And wow you worked on Squadron 69 too? Which character did you voice? I think it is one of the better Star Citizen short films out there, I really loved how you guys incorporated the lore and even real life players into the film. I believe there is a 3D printing company that makes Star Citizen Model Kits, do you intend to review those as well?
      Also, wow, doing all this yourself? That's pretty impressive, my buddies and I always thought there was a team behind this, considering all the research, the funds, editing, what not. Keep up the good work, also saw your latest upload, I do like that style, simple and to the point.

    Haven't seen your videos in a while! Glad to see you are back. I really love that tribute at the beginning to our awesome and elite SAF Guardsmen!
    Side note, I would really love to see more videos on SAF's 2nd Gen Soldiers, and i noticed you have never done any videos on the Axis Powers of World War II. Would love to see some reviews of German figures!

      Will do! I still have some Allied figures and sets I am planning to review, but once I have the chance, I will start looking into reviewing some German figures :) same goes for the SAF 2nd gen soldiers. Thanks for your continuous support :D

    Is there any reason why they aren't depicted with the SBO over their hard plate carriers?

    • @ScaledDownHistory

      Hi there! :D To answer your question, this LSV set, designed by Miniature Stories, depicts The Flyer during the late 1990s, early 2000s.
      As for the Load Bearing System (LBS) depicted in this set, it is the Skeletal Battle Order (SBO) issued in the late 1990s - 2000s. It is considered the "third generation" of LBS's issued by the SAF, which was the version right before it was changed to the Load Bearing Vest (LBV) in 2007, which is similar to the US Military's Fighting Load Carrier, in an olive green colour.
      Hard plates on the other hand were mainly introduced when the integrated Load Bearing Vest (iLBV) was first announced in late 2008, which was also when the SAF changed their uniform pattern from the previous Woodland Pattern (depicted in this set as well), to the currently used pixelated woodland pattern.
      Straits Times also published a series of stories detailing the evolution and history of SAF LBS's, from the 1st Gen Temasek Green SBO, to the current NFM Thor Plate Carrier, you can check it out here: stories.nws.ai/1288493254/evolution-of-safs-load-bearing-system/
      Hope this answered your question :)

      @thesummervalkyrie Před 2 lety +1

      I think the period this set is based in, SAF had not issued hard plate carriers, cos that was Gen 3, and this set is based during around the end of Gen 2 of the SAF

    • @takagabriel
      @takagabriel Před 2 lety

      @@ScaledDownHistory Oh i was referring to the Israel-derived hard plate carrier that would have been issued to be worn underneath the ephod-style SBO and FLC style LBV. This is part of war stock, and should be worn when deployed.

    • @takagabriel
      @takagabriel Před 2 lety

      @@thesummervalkyrie There were separate hard plate carriers issued as war stock to be worn under the 2G SAF SBO and LBV. There are images of troops wearing them during mob manning and some other exercises in the 90s and early 2000s, which is exactly when this is set.

    • @thesummervalkyrie
      @thesummervalkyrie Před 2 lety +5

      @@takagabriel Ok, i know what you were referring to. The vest in question, as you have mentioned, is war time stock, which means it is issued during war time in the SAF. It is not standard issue unlike the SBO or LBV. Only some units trained with it during certain deployments like Ops Bassinet in the 90s. Generally, soldiers during that period were mainly trained with the SBO alone.
      Since the SAF is a peacetime force, there was no need for it to be general issue, as again, it is a war stock that is only given for special missions and ops. It is not an item that is commonly known, maybe only seen once in a while, same as items like EOD suit, mop suit and gas mask. In 100% of the photos taken of my era, i have never once seen that vest. Even during my reservist, we never used it.
