  • The Talyllyn Railway was originally designed to carry slate from the quarries at Bryn Eglwys, down to the transfer wharf in Tywyn. To do this, hundreds of slate wagons were built. These days, only a few exist in the museum collection, and with thanks to this series sponsor: Dundas Models, I am able to make some for the 'Nant Gwernol' layout.

    I've got to stop watching your video's as I've now had to go out and buy some Dundas kits for my 009 layout which is in build. Love your videos and the models look great.

    Great little modeling video. I model in OO gauge Southern railway and know it's satisfying to make a kit rather than just buy off a shelf. And I can find more obscure and unusual wagons to build from Companies like Cambrian Models.

      Yes that’s the point I’m trying to get across. I get some people buy RTR to play or collect, but we’re model makers, and for me, the fun comes from this stage

    I inherited a pack without instructions, and like an episode of TopGear I asked myself how hard can it be? Mistakes were made! One of the fiddlier paint jobs, it is fine from viewing distance.

      It’s a funny thing, they only have a handful of parts, but it’s a real benefit to do it in the correct order

      I’ve since weathered them a bit, and it’s really helped..still waiting on numbers for them though!

    And the right relaxing video(s) to watch after a busy weekend taking Number 10 up and down the Corris Railway!

      @@GWilliamsonModels she sounds lovey, and aside from a few little bits that need changes/improvements (as expected of a brand new engine who’s barely run in yet) she’s a brilliant engine for the railway. A credit to everyone’s efforts!

    As ever, a great video. On thought though, you don't say what size drill you used to open up the holes for the axles in the axleboxes - this would be useful information for other builders.

    • @GWilliamsonModels
      @GWilliamsonModels  Před 10 měsíci

      Thanks, yes I’ve been picked up on that before, and the truth is: I don’t actually know, the drill bits are all mixed up, so I just go with whatever looks smaller than the axle box
