Enjoyed that it was well put together, interesting to note that the circle of trees have gone from around the fountain now. Scunny gets a bad press normally so this was a breath of fresh air ! nice 1

    Thanks Kids, that was great.
I left Scunthorpe over thirty years ago and it was good to see how the place has changed.
I got a job at the "works" (funny really 'cos we didn't have to say what kind of works...there was only one!) and I am still involved in the steel industry and proud of my home town.
What is sad is that the skyline has changed and I guess the works buzzer and red skies are not what they were.
    Bradley.

Hey, I think you guys did a good job on this! It's honest, touching, and timeless. And the Sigur Ros music works great. I live 5,000 miles away but maybe someday I'll come see your time for myself. Thanks for posting.

the film was produced this week over a period of 3 days. the kids at foxhills [FTC] school were fantastic and their enthusiasm and hard work proved invaluable in getting this film made in such a short time.

Just like to add that at 01:52 the street behind is incorrectly named as Redbourne Street, like the village and not Redbourn Street after the name of the steelworks. Also at 02:09 which shows the Coronation Club this was originaly built as a town hall in 1871 at a cost of £100. In 1886 it was fiited with eight beds and became Frodingham Cottage Hospital. At 03:00 in the early part of the last century Frodingham Road was known as Parkinson Road. At 03:15 it is Scunthorpe oldest surviving mill.

Bit of info for you..a halifax bomber crashed in the woods at the end of foxhills rd an some 40 bombs landed in the field near pinchbeck AVE/rd. There are good few crash sites in an around Scunthorpe a few hurricanes several halifax bombers...even a Gloucester meteor jet I think near Ashby ville an a German dornier bomber at the top of mortal ash hill(motlash) near Broughton.

Very well done, an excellent publication but can you tell why it was the village of Scunthorpe that bares the name of the borough and not one of the other four, after all it was Frodingham that was the local parish and the principal village.

thank you for the comments, unfortunately we had a small window of time to make this short docu about Scunny.
The film will be entered into the first Scunthorpe Young Persons Films Festival which is taking place in March. Maybe the young people of Scunthorpe will now be inspired to make a Summer version of the film with better light conditions and sunshine on the town.

yeah, well its a really good edited piece of work, though the music in the background just makes up for the dullness of scunthorpe and the people in it. true story.

62 thousand is about right, I think it is 78 thousand when the population of Bottesford is added to the count.
