My son and I are adding an extension on our garage, the floor now is concrete, and we are going in use wood so we will have to dig down to install the frame. we bought as we call it (Little Big Red) last summer, but it was near winner before it showed up, so we are just now getting started. It didn't take long before my son learned to use it. It removed 10'x20' x1' deep of super hard rock clay in no time the time was hauling it off with a 10 cubic foot yard cart. It is worth every dime to us. five stars

      You're right, it does suck.
Get a small tractor with a loader and detachable backhoe all in one unit.
If you have a lot of backhoe work to do then get a used regular mini excavator.
You will get a lot more work done a lot easier and in a lot less time with a mini excavator. And you will get a lot of use out of that backfill blade which is also your stabilizer.

  • @krisknowlton2658

You need to run the hydraulic hoses for the curl cylinder through the space on the attach points for the curl and crowd cylinders. The reason the hoses have the springs on them is so you can do that. It keeps the hoses from rubbing on the metal. With the hoses flopping around the way you have it induces unwanted stress on the fittings not to mention some day you will catch that hose on something which will cause an early termination of your work day. I have owned one of these backhoe for over two years now.

As a former track hoe excavator operator, I have to say that the heavier machine you have, the more ripping force you have. This machine has no weight to it. My neighbor bought one of the harbor freight backhoes to dig up his water line at his gas station. It does not have enough weight and ripping force to dig through the hard dirt. He ended up having to hire a contractor instead. What a waste of $3200.

    • @designsbynoz
      @designsbynoz Před rokem +4

You seem to copy and paste this exact comment on every HF towable backhoe video. I think most of us understand that a larger heavier backhoe would perform better. But sometimes you get what your budget allows. I have one acre and only needed something to do light duty work. A $35k John Deere would have been nice, but just not doable. Also as an option, you can leave it attached to your tow vehicle to get a little more weight/stability when needed.

Some hardware stores can make them. Any hydraulic repair shop. Almost any tractor dealership. Any tractor parts place. Tractor supply hardware.
      Hose world, etc. 😆
You can buy the hose and the fittings and put it together yourself if you get the screw on fittings, and they are reusable. You cut away about an inch and a half of the outside rubber and then screw on the outer shell and then you screw the other part inside of the hose. My dad made all of his hoses that way for 40 years on his commercial John Deere backhoe and his commercial Massey Ferguson tractor.
Here's a picture of those from Napa.

He already has a tractor. He should just get a backhoe for it not waste his money and his time on that motorized piece of garbage.
The tractor that he has is not commercial anyway. It's a light duty hobby farm mini sized tractor. It's a lot cheaper than a commercial tractor.
And a frame Mount backhoe for that tractor will do a lot better job and a lot quicker and easier.

Platinum Reflection in your experience, how much cover is needed over a plastic culvert? I've put a few 12 and 18" corrugated metal culverts in with only 8" of cover over them without issues. A few 110,000# loads with no issues. I've put in a few plastic pipes like these with only 6" of dirt and 6" of road crush fines that stood up well, but the loads were lighter - 75,000# or so.

@@cammurray8453 Each City, State, and county may have different regulations.
steel corrugated pipe is strong enough that you could leave it exposed. But steel corrugated pipe does rot out after a number of years.
The plastic corrugated pipe is also fairly strong but most places require at least a foot of cover over it.
