Looking for the softest table tennis rubber - Review #02 | Testing Andro Impuls Speed & Plaxon 350

- Welcome to Part 2 of my search for the perfect racket. Please respect the fact that this is a really subjective, neutral and pragmatic review in relation to my old material which I played for 25 years! The priority is to get an impression how the material behaves in gameplay.
After testing out Andro Impuls Speed & Powersponge on my old blade Butterfly Primorac Carbon Off+ in the first video: • Looking for the softes... I've tested out Andro Powersponge (2.0mm) on the fore- and backhand on an Andro Treiber FO OFF/S but decided not to get on with it because its total weight 173g feels heavier than my current Butterfly Primorac Carbon Off+ & Joola Samba Plus combination (total weight 173g) and its sound/catapult is not strong enough for my technique.
So I'm starting this video with my favourite combination of Andro Impuls Speed [37g] on the backhand and Andro Plaxon 350 [42g] on the forehand with the Andro Treiber FO OFF/S [86g]. Its total weight of 165g is really comfortable and the Andro Impuls Speed feels great. I've got a good touch at counter-attack, blocking and backhand pressure play but I don't get a perfect arc at spinning and openings after my return. In total I would say I'm really pleasantly surprised how good it performs and in the next step I would try out both of these rubbers on a bit harder wood. Andro will drop a brand new line of woods next year and there should be a fitting one for me. I can't wait to test them out to hopefully find the perfect combination of rubbers and blade. But I would definitely recommend to try this blade for a test round because it's so amazingly fast and interesting to play.
Until now I never was so optimistic to find a real alternative to my 25 years old combination of the Primorac Carbon and Samba (Plus)! So please stay tuned for the next part of my review in 2022! Thanks to my training partners Dominik Jonack [TTS Borsum] and Maxi Dierks [SVH Kassel] as well as Andro Table Tennis for going with me on this exciting journey!
In the meantime I will focus on my league matches which I will record for you, some street table tennis action and my Chop Chop Club-series when Covid19 will allow it again.

hey, just dicovered your channel. first of all: great work with the creative camera angle, cutting and sound. short question, from my understanding most skilled players prefer hard rubbers, how come you and apparently your sparring partners prefer soft rubbers. would be great if you could elaborate more on this topic.

thanks, I'm glad you like it!
I'm playing soft rubbers since fresh glueing was allowed and my style/technique adopted to these soft rubbers. When fresh glueing was forbidden I switched from the regular Joola Samba to Samba Plus.
The other players in this video do not play soft rubbers. I think I'm the only one in the whole area... :D
By the way, that's the reason I wanted to introduce some videos focussing on soft rubbers.

Hallo, wie würdest du denn dein jetziges Spielholz im Vergleich mit dem Treiber (hier im Video) sehen ?
Hallo Marco, vielen Dank für Deine Frage. Wie gesagt, meine Rückmeldungen zu dem Material sind sehr subjektiv, da mein Spielstil schon sehr auf die weichen Beläge zugeschnitten ist. Ich habe bemerkt, dass ich mit dem Butterfly Primorac Carbon Off+ die Bälle noch etwas katapultartiger rausbekomme und ich mehr Druck aufbauen kann als mit dem getesteten Treiber. Auch die Kontrolle ist gefühlt etwas besser. Allerdings muss ich sagen, dass sich mein Butterfly-Ersatzholz auch schon wieder um einiges anders spielt und ich froh bin, dass es nur das Ersatzholz ist. :(
Ich warte jetzt auf die neuen Hölzer von Andro, die bald kommen sollen und die sehr vielversprechend klingen. Dazu würde ich dann aber wieder einen kleinen Bericht machen und diese selbstverständlich auch ausgiebig testen, um dann endgültig zu wechseln, da der Joola Samba Plus in der Produktion eingestellt wird. Ich hoffe, dass ich Dir etwas helfen konnte. VG, Patrick

Eigentlich ist der FX-P von Tibhar wohl nahe am Samba dran, aber ist nicht von Andro.
Have you try using slower blade (off, not off+ or off++) with harder rubber?
No, I think this would be the most unperfect solution for my game play... 😅✌️
finde es fasziniered zu sehen, dass es spitzenspieler gibt, die nicht die härtesten beläge spielen. im moment geht der trend bei den profis ja klar richtung hart-härter-am härtesten! hattest du noch nie das problem, dass auf deinem niveau der ball durch den extrem weichen belag direkt auf das holz durchschlägt und du total die kontrolle verlierst (bottom-out-effect)? ist mir auf meinem (tiefen) niveau sogar auch schon passiert, vor allem bei topspin gegen topspin, als ich noch sehr weiche beläge gespielt habe...
Ja, die Tendenz geht leider eher in Richtung der härteren Beläge, daher wohl auch das Aus für den Joola Samba Plus. Schönen Sonntag und beste Grüße
Ach so, und zu Deiner Frage: wenn ich die perfekten weichen Beläge erwische dann nicht, nur wenn sie generell viel zu weich sind, dann "schmieren" die Bälle regelmäßig ohne Kontrolle ab... :D Zu hart ist auch wieder ein anderes Problem... da muss einfach alles perfekt sein, bei weichen Belägen. 🥴
Hast du schon mal den Solcion von Butterfly getestet? Auch seeeehr weich...
@@haehne Dank Dir für den Tipp, aber ich bin bei Andro und werde in der Sommerpause deren weiche Beläge mit den neuen, kommenden Hölzern austesten. 💪
Profis spielen aber auch Beläge, die du oder ich niemals bekommen werden. Ein Boll spielt niemals den handelsüblichen dignics 09c in seiner vorhand, weil der vom grundtempo viel zu langsam ist. Seine Beläge sind vom Werk aus vorgetuned / behandelt und mit denen, die wir im Handel zu Gesicht bekommen, einfach nicht vergleichbar. Nicht umsonst spielen Profis die Beläge auch nur wenige Tage, wenn nicht sogar nur einzelne Spiele auf Turnieren. Die Teile sind nach kurzer Zeit durch. Im Grunde ist das "Grundmaterial" bei den Profis ein sehr harter Belag, welcher jedoch durchs "Behandeln" deutlich weicher wird und wesentlich mehr Katapult innehat.
Von daher ist die Aussage mit harten Belägen bei Profis mit Vorsicht zu genießen!

@@dreammaker4445du wirst eher besser ich hab mit mx-d auf vh und mx-s auf Rückhand gespielt und dann auf 40 grad Beläge umgestellt jetzt hab ich deutlich mehr ttr und macht auch viel mehr spaß
