    I have an idea since you asked. Would be really cool if you had some really short episodes dedicated to useful nodes in fusion - discussing their main purpose, the important controls, all their input points, example usages, and alternative approaches if any.
    Then you take requests from the comments as to which node you're gonna tackle next.
    Do a node a day for the first 7 days and then do a node a week until they're all covered - building up a nice playlist library of a visual reference that does not exist. I think it would be good for your channel long-term.
    I would do this myself (as a way of learning) except you're much more talented at making great videos.

And I don't seem to be able to edit the macro to check the rectangles or masks. Ideas?

How can I make it to happen on the entire screen? The SVG contains several backgrounds - it's a text that has been made into outlines.

    The macro doesn't work right for me using resolve 16. Start/end controller is not correct... mb because I work with 60 fps timeline idk. But I found that in your settings file "transitions 1" control is set to 30 keyframes so the problem is that the transition lasts 30 frames no matter how far I set the keyframe for 1 from 0 on the timeline. The animation lasts 30 frames always and it's too fast so unfortunately unusable for me. :(

      Hey Ryan! The easiest way in resolve is to go to the fusion page, then in the top menu go to fusion > macro editor, then in that go to file > open and that will take you to where your macros are stored. Then just copy and paste the .setting files in that folder. For example my path is: C:\Users\theo\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Fusion\Macros
      Hope this helps, enjoy the macro!

    You are very talented and I appreciated all the hard work you do. but I hope you can take some helpful suggestions to help in the way you teach. It would be great if you could call out all of the settings when when you make changes, that way the numbers show up in the transcript. This helps those whose English is not first language and also those who are trying to follow along so they can pause the video and read the transcript. Also it gets confusing when you go back change things when taking notes. It would be helpful and less confusing if you did things in a linear order rather than go backwards and add things in the node order. I understand that sometimes you do that to make a teaching point but if you say "I will explain this reason for this in a bit" to keep things in going in a linear order. I'm not trying to criticize you because i know it takes a lot a of effort to do one of these videos and I do appreciate that, I am just offering some suggestions you may not be aware of that can help you teach better.

  • @brandimakesmusic
    @brandimakesmusic Před 4 lety

    Well there's two hours I'll never get back. The bitmap was useless. The only way I could get the matte control to actually show the keyframes from the rectangle mask was to connect the merge from the two backgrounds directly into the garbage matte. Something that you said we couldn't do. And not only that, but when I said screw it and just went with the wipe transition, the text kept popping back into frame as if the mask had disappeared for one or two frames! Frustration to the enth degree! Guess it serves me right for trying to do something creative for a change

    *a link to show the results I achieved after your tutorial: czcams.com/video/2UImE20k6Rs/video.html * Thank you for the tutorial, Theo! I won't download the macro until I can get you a burrito. But your tutorial worked great for me! This was the first time using Fusion ever for me and I missed a few steps here & there due to your incredible speed and my incredible slowness, so I played your vid at .5x speed and spacebar'ed it every few seconds to follow step by step to the letter. and I got back on track and was able to follow it all the way through to get the results that you demonstrated. :)
    And I learned SO much about nodes and workflows in Fusion in just this one tutorial! Amazing! Also, I was then able to figure out how to reverse the particle flow so that the screen starts with a black background and a swarm of white particles get sucked down into the text of my youtube channel's name, which turns lime green (my motorcycle's color), and then blows out to the right as white particles, while getting replaced by a simple 2-D text element using the Write Out option, before the texts glows cyan and flashes to white with a fast fade to black, all with approppriate wind sounds. :)
    And I'm working on learning the keyboard shortcuts at all times, so feel free to shout them out during your tutorials to us so we can be can drill them into our spongy brains. :)
    I am officially not as daunted about everything now, so thank you, again, Theo! :)
