It's easy to communicate with your guitarist while composing/jamming. If he has detuned his guitar and says to the keyboardist or any other guitarist to play an A Minor chord, they will have to play A minor like they normally do. Hope you understand my point. Another reason can be to make it easier to play. On the keyboard, some fast runs are easier on the white keys as opposed to the black keys. So it's technically cheating but who cares as long as it sounds great.

Janne is playing very easy shit. If you are a beginner metal/jazz keyboardist, you'll be able to play what he is. People who dont know stuff about keys feel Alexi was poor and vise versa. Janne is miles behind many other keyboardists in terms of abilities...and I am probably his biggest fan in the world, so much so that I emulated his sound and style for my own covers and songs (chk out my channel). Yet, sadly in comparision with Richard Andersson, Jens, Jordan, Jem Godfrey etc he isnt a great keyboarsist. Yet, what I love about him is the aura he bought to the first 4 COB albums. He shines in making shit sound gold.
