  • Can you keep a secret? Do it with Enigma Chest, our brand new model inspired by the most mysterious cipher device in history. This model is designed as a chest with a «secret» - there is a combination lock on the cover.
The lock has 5 fields with different symbols. When you put the symbols in the right order, the cover can be opened. To find the symbols needed, you should unlock all mechanisms, which are hidden in the chest sides.

I don't know who you are that assembles these puzzles but you certainly don't get the praise you deserve. I stopped on page 27 tonight, my second day of working on it and I'm amazed at the engineering it took to make this puzzle. Even though the directions are easy to follow it's real easy to slip up and make a mistake but by following your footsteps you have saved me numerous times. I like how you show the entire piece after each page has been completed or a place to pay special attention. This is without a doubt my favorite so far, I can't wait till the end to see how this thing works.
Thank you again for taking the extra time to assemble these puzzles instead of fast forwarding 10 times faster than normal speed. I wish I could give 1000 thumbs up. I'll make a follow up comment once I have finished, thanks again.

Our entire team is very grateful to you for such a comment! 😍
The model is really complex, but also very interesting in the engineering direction. We are glad that our videos help.

Just started this one after doing several others from various companies. Here are some tips for those trying out this one!
    1) DON'T GET FRUSTRATED! Stay calm and keep your focus. "[Frustration] leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering." (I'm so sorry to murder the Yoda quote there, but I just had to say it :) )
    2) DO have a small mallet or oyster hammer handy. If a piece just won't fit, sand an edge- CAREFULLY! Use your mallet or hammer to join parts- the sound of the impact will change once the part is fully inserted. BE CAREFUL! A few very light tunks on the part will do the job. Slow and steady wins, but IT'S NOT A RACE! The pieces of this puzzle need to have a nice tight fit with no gaps. Pay very close attention to the orientation of the parts, especially the tiny little pieces that act as joiners. Those have to be placed exactly as shown in the instructions.
    3) The boards that the pieces of this model punch out of are thicker and sturdier than many boards from other companies. That means they're less prone to snapping in half, but it also means they're tougher to get out in the first place. Use the punch tool, and use a board with empty holes from where you've taken out other pieces as a spacer. Punch them out using the punch tool. Your fingers will thank you!
    4) Get more sandpaper. You'll want it. Where round things fit into round holes, sand the interior of the holes a bit. You want smooth movement where round parts fit into round holes.
    5) Get more wax. You'll want that too. The wax from a tea light seems to be the same consistency as what comes in the box.
    6) Speaking of sandpaper and wax, sand and wax. And sand, and wax. And sand, and wax. BE PATIENT. Pay particular attention to the places where the part was joined to the board- sand those nubbins off until it's smooth as... well, until it's smooth.
    7) Moving parts can be stiff. Run them in, sanding as needed. These need to move freely. Not loosely, but freely. Use your judgment.
I'm about a third of the way through this one at this writing. This seems to be a very high quality build. Keep your head and keep your cool and you'll end up with a fun puzzle box that will last a long time!

How did it turn out, I'm thinking I might get this for my Granddaughter after I put it together.

@@66lwmorgan I'm not done with it yet! There's a LOT to this one. I've managed to finish up to I think page 17 of the instructions (I'd have to look, and I only just now rolled my bones out of bed), but I have broken any bits yet. Whew!
One thing I have noticed is that this model definitely does need lots and lots of wax on the moving parts. What I've made sure to do is to hold the sides up to a light so I can see the sheen of the wax shining on it. You'll want to be able to feel it, and maybe rub it into the wood a bit.
Also, and this is something I learned from a woodworking channel elsewhere on CZcams: carefully sand the edges down so they're a tiny bit rounded at the corners and along the long edges of pieces that will be exposed. If you don't (this is apparently true for furniture as well) any sharp-cornered edges along the sides or at the corners can splinter over time. Ouch! Slightly rounding them prevents that - and it gives it a nice look, too!
I'll try to get something up on CZcams or somewhere at some point once I'm finished putting this together. This is a super neat puzzle and once all the parts start coming together it's obvious how much care went into the design.

@@KyleNally I appreciate you getting back with me Kyle. I ordered this kit along with the Vintage Clock last night to go with my other Wood Trick puzzles.
I'm from Missouri, the show me state so watching these video's always makes it a little easier during the assembly even though the directions are quite clear. I like how the person doing the video points out specific area's that need special attention so you don't put something together backwards, believe me I've done that in the past.
I like how you pointed out some very important info, keep a cool head, don't stress and take your time, use the WAX and SAND the edges which I always do but a good reminder. At my age I don't get in a hurry anymore, lol.
The other thing I started doing with my puzzles is I'm using Dry Eraser Markers to color the parts before assembly and they really turn out looking great. So far I've colored the Oil Derrick and the Lantern and I will be coloring the new one's I just ordered.
Good luck with the completion of your Chest and let me know how it turns out.
Thank you again for the reply.

I'm thinking seriously about ordering this to give to my Granddaughter after completion. I have two questions, I've read reviews that mention a part or a whole is cut wrong or something to the affect on parts 131, 141 and or 144? Secondly, does the wax eventually dry up and will it be difficult for the moving parts to move smoothly? Thank you for the video's, they really do help.

      Thanks for your comment!
All the details are cut out correctly, you need to follow the instructions and you will not have any questions.
The wax does not dry out, it is enough only to clean the parts well with sandpaper during assembly and displace them with wax so that the mezanism works correctly

@@WoodTrick After watching your video last night I assumed there were no mistakes with your product. I ordered the Enigma Chest last night along with the Analog Vintage Table Clock. Thank you for always replying to messages and pointing out specific areas that need special attention, you've saved me many times from over sight on my part. Thank you again for the video's.
