    You already have put a tremendous amount of effort into this, but I can tell it's going to be worth it in the end! I don't know very many people who would have the patience to do this!

    We learned a trick from another video- to use a power washer to get off the outside bark. It works AMAZING!! and it saves so much time

    Love the idea of building around your focal point... Beautiful piece of wood. A couple 2-3" thick rounds from the butt end would make nice plant stands or side tables for the living room.

      I'd much rather build around a different focal point.. Can you imagine if there was a mini excavator in the living room!! Boom!! Now that is unique!! lol

    When I cottoned on to your idea I thought you need a variable speed angle grinder and a soft wire wheel, then you come out with the restorer! Brilliant. 👍

    11:00 that is a very good tool Sharon, I like the shape, the way the hose for a vacuum can hook up to the end. I have COPD from too much saw dust in my lunges. Never seen one like that guy.

    • @CedarBluffRustics
      @CedarBluffRustics Před 2 lety

      It is really nice to use on barnwood. So sorry to hear about the lung issue. I really need to get better at wearing a mask.

      Sharon I plan to live to be 105 and I am 87 this year so it takes a while of doing something wrong but it catches up with year in the end. That tool does NOT have a place to hook up a hose, maybe just wishful thinking.

    The wire wheel you used Sharon get a thin one that fits on an angle grinder to get into the deeper crevices, save a lot of digging with different tools.

      Great question! I probably could have but I was trying not to get it that wet. It will only have about 5 months to completely dry out before we need to move it in. The other trees I dont use right away I do that to. Makes a mess but sure saves time!

    Mrs K....any chance you could strip off my ole bark, do some deep sanding and turn ME into something special? lol/smh The Boracare is some good stuff. Stops the bark wood borers in their tracks and doesn't change or color the wood. Its made with Borax which is a natural ingredient.

    • @CedarBluffRustics
      @CedarBluffRustics Před 2 lety +1

      Clark! I'm not a miracle worker! 😉 As soon as I get that boracare its game on with those little 4 legged beasts!
