Thank you for posting. I am a Surgical Technologist. I am also a fulltime Surgical Technologist Instructor at a college here in the Phoenix area. What a great resource you have created for Surgical Personnel. I love that you talked about counts and the importance and being patient during this process and the outcome of a incorrect count. It is great to hear a Surgeons perspective. Pam

Enjoy this resource. I've even considered borrowing a scrub tech textbook on surgical tools but this is a great review and clarification.

Hello am from India, am OT scrub nurse , it is been really useful to me , my side my comments is if you given a name's of instruments as subtitles means it is really easy to understand because of your accent is different and bit hard to understand correctly

I thought they were Eastman retractors, not Richardson retractors.

I believe that you are showing Cushing vein (and nerve) retractors. Named for you-know-who, of course. It's really very difficult to understand how a large (or any) ribbon retractor could have been left behind. Presumably there were 2 surgeons, an instrument tech. (all watching), a circulating nurse, etc. 2 of them did multiple instrument/sponge/needle counts and both surgeons were watching the retractor being covered. And yet I do know that it happens. Incidentally, I watched Dr. Deaver operate. There are, of course, many other retractors.
