  • Today we answer all your questions! We lived in a Prius for 100 days and we reveal how much it really costs. We answer all of your most asked questions and highlight some of the best days as a couple living in a car. We go over our build, what worked, what didn't and even reveal how much we spent in total. Did we stay on budget?
    We turned our 2014 Prius into an easy and comfortable car camper for two! We convert from driving to sleeping in under 10 minutes, we have a kitchen set up, closet, and plenty of room for activities. We designed our Prius camper for National Park camping, city stealth sleeping and road tripping for 100 days from San Diego to Canada to New York.
    The entire conversion is easily removed, turning our car back into the original vehicle giving us the ability to sell it in New York on day 100.
    We've spent 100 days living in our Prius, car camping across America and Canada. We show you the NO BUILD BUDGET DESIGN and how we easily transform our Prius daily from driving to sleeping mode. This is no tools necessary, easy as can be, comfortable car camping on a budget. We also show you tips and tricks for small living storage, and the things that helped us most on this adventure.

    Note on umbrellas! ☂️If you’d left them behind it would have rained a LOT more!😂 It’s Murphy’s Law!😁Enjoyed seeing and hearing the 100 day trip break down! If you really want to see bears, you need to take the Cassiar Highway to the Yukon! In the fall on our way to the cabin when the bears are stuffing themselves for winter hibernation, we see so many bears! Last year counted 27!!

    Prius is the best for everything. Once you own a prius, it's hard to drive anything else, at least for me. I've driven to Maine, Canada, Florida, New Orleans, Memphis, Grand Canyon. The Prius has so much room. People think it's small but it's not. And the ability to sleep using climate control all night is very nice. Prius is a gas sipper.

      Without a doubt! When we see one on the road they look so small they are deceptive like that. We sold this one but are looking for another to build out into a camping machine!

      We laugh because we were more comfy in the Prius than some of the hotels we stayed at while traveling Europe .

      @@HeresGoodTravel I get it! We loved being in Florence Italy, but the beds there were as hard as granite!

      Hahaha that is pretty standard I guess🤣. I laughed out loud. We might add a blow up camping mat to our packing list.

    I just watched your prius tour and budget videos. I wanted to know why you didn't leave the prius in stand-by and use the climate control a/c overnight to stay cool in extreme heat?
    Thank you for sharing the car setup info + budgeting for car life on the road it was super helpful. 👍

    • @HeresGoodTravel
      @HeresGoodTravel  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed them. We did do this periodically without issue. However when it was in the 90’s we just didn’t want to over work it. Nights that were in the mid 80’s we used this technique it came in really handy when stealth camping in Seattle and a couple other times. We were a lot title nervous doing that very often and used it as a last resort but it was a major perk and worked great. We burned about 1.5 gallons running it overnight.
      Towards the end we did notice the motor mounts aging a little quicker due to this processes as they have to keep the engine tight and doing that it starts every 25-40 mi utes. We had no issues and it worked really well when we needed it. We have since sold the CaRV but will be getting another one solely for this feature the next time.

    Whoa that’s amazing! 1st time we camped in our Prius for 2 nights recently & I can’t wait to try something like you guys did. Any problem with the car (engine, tires, etc) while on the road? That would be my biggest concern, car issues in the middle of nowhere 😅

    • @HeresGoodTravel
      @HeresGoodTravel  Před 6 měsíci +1

      We sold our car at about 120,000 miles with no issue. We got our oil changes on time with full synthetic and had one major ($1200) brake job. The k my thing I thought was happening was that the motor mount was wearing out so we were going to have that replaced if we were still going. We are in the market for another Prius to build out this summer! Glad you found our video to be useful! Happy adventuring!

      We thought we would be staying in hotels more often but we would shower at campgrounds too. But when we did our Europe travel it was amazing always having a shower in our own hotel room.

    Can you run the a/c liberally and shutting the car off? Or does it chew through batteries? Does it need to be charged daily? Thanks for any insight you can offer.

    • @AzzBackwards

      I’m considering sleeping in a car for construction projects instead of hours of driving everyday.

      So you start the car and put it into “ready” mode as if you were going to drive. Set the EBrake And put the AC to the desired temp. The engine will kick on to charge the hybrid battery e wry 30-45 minutes. We burn through about a gallon of gas running the AC all night long!
