  • I had the day off from work but awoke with back pain which but a damper on the day. After having a pity party for a bit I ventured out without any real direction. Eventually I found my way to the Mashamoquet Brook State Park in NE Connecticut. Knowing nothing about this place and unable to actually pronounce its name, I wandered a couple trails and discovered cool natural (and some manmade) points of interest comprised of the local stones. I enjoyed exploring this place and it was a good reminder to always get out and explore.

    Only the most badass among us throw out their backs at band practice.

      Probably more to do with getting old and rarely practicing than being badass. 😆

      It’s worth checking out. Thanks for watching!

    I put on another "challenge" through Killingly Parks and Rec, and Mashamoquet was one of their route destinations. I just shared this with the group. Love it!

    Your hat reminds me of a certain moving involving some sand and a "lot" - also that was a fine well.

    My favorite video of yours so far. I used to go to this state park as a kid quite often. Many great memories there of the Wolfs Den and Table Rock and swimming in the pond. 😃🤘

      Thanks Neil! Definitely completely random that I picked this place but I enjoyed the landmarks. Lots of people having picnics in the main area.

      Thanks Doug, back already seems much better. It's so cliche but it's true - all these random back pains seem to crop up out of nowhere. Thankfully they currently seem to disappear just as quickly. #GettingOldSucks

    I’m headed here on Wednesday and camping overnight at Wolf Den Park. I’ll hop on the Airline Trail as well just north of Route 44.

    Wonderful stroll and commentary! :) Pro tip: Take a photo of the map - you might end up needing it :)

    • @RhodySeth
      @RhodySeth  Před 3 lety +1

      Good suggestion! I actually did take a pic of the map but there were map posts out there so I didn't need to consult it. Of course then I got overconfident and ended up going further than anticipated. I would've missed that chair though!

    • @RhodySeth
      @RhodySeth  Před 3 lety +1

      I had never even heard of the place and only glanced at the name before starting to record so I pretty much butchered it every time. 😆

    Get well soon. I've managed to injure my oblique. Trying to get some rest.
    Trade in that double neck bass for a p-bass and you'll put less strain on your back.

    • @RhodySeth
      @RhodySeth  Před 3 lety

      I can't give up on my Warwick now. We've been through so much! Really though, I just need to practice again and pick it up more than twice a month.

  • @BearTrekAdventures
    @BearTrekAdventures Před 3 lety

    Say that 3 times Mashamoquet 🤣. Hopefully your back is ok. Nature always seems to help lift the mood and heals the soul. Looks like a nice area…thought we might have a return of Sir Royce. I’m curious if you use any or tried any ND filters for your GoPro? That den was really neat!

    • @RhodySeth
      @RhodySeth  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks, my back is better now. I haven't dabbled with any of the filters yet. I'm a noob. What do they do? That Den _was_ cool. I didn't see it the first time I walked by. I thought all those Wolf Den signs were referring to that sad campsite. 😆
      I just recorded some new aerial footage of a favorite local spot, Lantern Hill. I've been in contact with Sir Royce and he's whipping up some (completely, totally true) narration. Look for that one soon! (if you're not in the woods yet)

    • @BearTrekAdventures
      @BearTrekAdventures Před 3 lety

      @@RhodySeth Good to hear. The filters are basically sunglasses for the camera. I picked up the PolarPro VND (Variable Density Filter) for my iPhone and tried it out this past weekend. Was just curious with all your footage if you used them for GoPro...maybe not worth it for the GoPro's since they excel in brighter conditions. When I heard you mention the Wolf Den was thinking maybe that's by Mohegan Sun in CT - they have a gambling wing called that 🤣 Sir Royce was a big hit for all of us that follow you - on my trip this past weekend I kept thinking "...man I bet Sir Royce could tell us some good tales about the watchman and the shenanigans on Carrigain" 😁

  • @northeastfamilyadventures9186

    What kind of band are you in that you get more sore after band practice than after running a super marathon on rough new England trails?! I will say, that Table Rock was far less scary than the Table Rock we visited earlier this summer. You definitely made that walk more entertaining than it had any right to be, but it was still an interesting assortment of assorted rocks.

    • @RhodySeth
      @RhodySeth  Před 3 lety

      Guess it shows how important practice is regardless of the discipline. I rarely play bass outside of band practice and it had been a month since the last jam. Shameful!
      Yes, this video ended up being alright. You are correct though - sometimes I film stuff like this and once I start editing it I realize there isn't much there.

  • @ElizabethAllenLizRidesBikes

    • @RhodySeth
      @RhodySeth  Před 3 lety

      Yeah, I butchered it pretty bad. I realized after I watched the recordings that I really had no idea what I was saying. 😆
