- In this video I make a maple burl bottle stopper using the Niles Stainless Bottle stopper and mandrel. Huge thank you to Carl and Robin for sending these along. You can get started with Niles Bottle Stoppers at: nilesbottlestoppers.com
These are really fun and easy to make and are a great use of scrap wood.
Please Checkout Carl's CZcams channel where you can find several videos with stoppers and loads of other cool things.

Thanks for another great video. These are just what a beginner like me needs.
They are so fun Ron, you will love them!
beautiful burl, would make a great gift with glasses and wine!
Thanks Kathryn! Although I will not likely use it I’m going to keep the first one but some custom stemmed glasses and a stopper is a great idea!
What a lovely little project. I’ve just made my first two pull cord knobs using sapele and blue resin for a friend. ‘Turned’ out nice. Thanks for having me stop by 🌞
Excellent Ray! I appreciate you watching
What a delightful way to be able to use up 'insignificant', waste offcuts. Stunning looking piece of burl & a great little project for learners or for making money for your shop. Thanks for sharing Lewis. Always a productive channel. Cheers, Don from South Aust.
It really does utilize very small pieces which I have loads of! I appreciate you watching Don!
Very nice Lewis; that burl came out beautifully
Thanks Mark, I wish I had more of that burl actually! I appreciate you watching buddy
Nicely done 👍👍👍. Thank you for sharing. Be safe🇨🇦
Thanks! I appreciate you watching!
Very nice stopper, Lewis. Thanks for sharing
Thanks so much for watching Ward!
Well demonstrated, Lewis. Those look like just the right amount of fun and usefulness. I do always look for more spindle turning opportunities. Wood dyes and resin might be a direction to go. Thanks for the Fund Your Shop videos. I like them.
They would be cool dyed or as hybrids Jay. I’m going to get some wood ready for when I have overpours and start getting blanks ahead, I think these will be great stocking stuffers. Thanks for watching as always!
Very nicely done! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much for watching!
Beautiful stopper. Love the burl you used.
Thank you Carl, I wish I had a truckload of that burl!
Great video Lewis thanks for sharing
Thank you Brain, I really appreciate it
Watched many of Carl's videos of him making bottle stoppers I think my favorite one was the Starship Enterprise it was awesome. That burl is simply stunning Lewis. Got to get me some of that HUT wax.
Love HUT wax for these types of products! I appreciate you watching Jane!

Always awesome, Lewis! I love the kits they have! Easy to make, and super high quality!
They are fantastic DD! I can’t believe it took me this long to make one!
Those are really nice kits. I have to try and use mine soon.
That was some beautiful wood used on yours
Thanks Jiggsy! They are excellent actually, so. Glad I decided to try some. I appreciate you watching buddy
Very cool Lewis, stoppers are always fun! Well done as always buddy! 👍🏻👍🏻
They are great Bruce! Took me a long time to get to it huh! I appreciate you watching buddy!
You said “ You see these little pieces are great for these kind of projects.”
My wife said “He’s not helping at reducing your (my) growing scrap pile!”
I can accept some blame as long as your wife isn’t a violent woman Bill! Thanks to you both for watching!
Thank you for sharing. that looked amazing. My question is what size did you start with?
Hey Len, I started with a 1-5/8” square x 2-1/2” piece. Thanks for watching!
I am trying to set up an old "Delta" Lathe that I have had for several years. I am to the point of mounting the motor, but I can't find a decent video on how to set it up. Any suggestions???
I guess it really depends on your space and what lathe it is. You can email me at klondikecraftsman@hotmail.com and I’d be happy to help if I can. Thanks for watching!
