After the line-up change and with their new guitar wizard Tobias Kersting (Chris Boltendahl's Steelhammer, ex-Orden Ogan), GRAVE DIGGER are back with the new single "The Grave Is Yours" and to make clear, that 80's inspired traditional Heavy Metal in its purest is more than alive. And not enough: The completely re-recorded classic track "Back to The Roots" is also part of this release. Straightforward, merciless, right in your face ... this is GRAVE DIGGER in 2024!

Endlich hört sich die Musik dank Tobi wieder mehr nach Grave Digger an. Der Song könnte auch auf der "Excalibur" stehen. Axel`s Spiel passte nie wirklich dazu. Obwohl ich immer noch Uwe`s Sound am besten fand.

What would happen if a German band inspired by and during the NWOBHM just kept going indefinitely, supported by a diehard fanbase who'll follow them forever? You'd probably get Grave Digger, relentlessly, faithfully giving the fans what they want. And when you're out of ideas, just re-do some of your old stuff.
However I'm not knocking any of this - if you're giving the fans what they want, you're probably doing something right. I love the NWOBHM, so I'm more than delighted to hear a band still playing it. This is one for the Classic Metal playlist. My Score: Good 3*

I really don't understand why you put them in the same category as Iron Maiden, Diamond Head, Saxon, Raven, Praying Mantis, Tank, Pagan Altar, Demon...etc. who are the typical representatives of this style!

Ok, it's a standard Grave Digger song, it's not exceptional and it's not completely worthless, I think the band can do a lot more, but it's a good example of this new phase with Tobi on guitars, you can already notice something different (the guitar on bridge for example). Not wanting to detract from Axel Ritt's work while he was in the band, but the solo in this song sounds more incorporated into the composition, Axel had a more stripped down and dirty style, and many of his solos seemed like instinctive improvisations, Tobi has a more "thoughtful and calculated", it was just a shame that the solo was short, I would have liked to hear a little more tempo changes during the instrumental part. But I think the band will produce good things with this lineup, for the start of work I think it's ok.
Of course, this is my perception with just one listen, the song could very well grow on me after more listens.

Not gonna lie, while "Symbol of Eternity" was good, I was a little disappointed. This sounds like some old-skool Grave Digger. Love it.
I don't know what you mean by old school (I can only think of the 80's albums for that matter) . But I prefer the "epic/concept/history" type of their sound to the "horror/metal themed" type
