    1970 429 SCJ Owner here and all I can say is throw that 5.0 out and put the 7.3 in it. The thing that made the Torino great was the Cubic Inches, 351 Clevelands were ok and the 302's were road slugs, it wasn't until they stuffed the 429 in there that they woke up a beast, Give us a Beast, give us a 7.3 Godzilla......

      I agree but back in the day ford made multiple type engines. 427cj,428cj/scj, then the 429scj , the you have the 351w, 351c, 351m which was the modified 351 with 400 heads and much better set up, Back in the day where I grew up If you built a car and wanted a 351 most went with the M motor . I had a friend who a built 351m in 75-76 ford Maverick it would low 11’s in pump gas. He raced my other friends Vega with a cosworth a destroyed him. I know I know not really apples to apples .my buddy with Vega thought his car was great, I’m a gear head I belong to my friends drag club here in IL 6 sec proMod . Also I agree with you in the 302 it was nice but a lead sled. If you know the 289 was actually better build up than the 302 if done properly it would out do and perform the 302 I agree with you though 100% 💯 I had to other guys I hung with that loved AMC one had a javelin the other a gremlin/AMX both with the 304 built up believe it or they were about equal even though the gremlin was smaller. I grew up in a DieHard Ford family till I came home with my 389 tripower with a 4 spd GTO not the judge just GTO any way I bought a 1967 mustang with a stick 289 traded it for the GTO then a year and a half later I get a letter from ford antique’s division letting me know they where happy to find out the car was still up and running to let me know I had a collectors item🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 In 67 mud stream production they changed the rake of the rear window to get the fast back look my father hated me for getting rid of that car and never let me forget about it all growing up. One more thing the Ford 390 v8 was a great motor as well to beef up not fixed up it was a dog built it was a built proof beast had that in my 76 F150 4x4 oh well miss the good ole days have a great one ☝️👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

      @rayharmon7254 Agreed. There weren't many performance Torino's around back in the day but no question the 429 made it a very special car. Clevelands were always okay, but in general the stock ones were nearly always beat by 340's, and most 350's. Love to see this beast with a Gdozilla power plant.

    • @topfuel5004
      @topfuel5004 Před 4 dny

      The 429 SJC was 375 HP stock, the Torino 5.0 is 485 HP and if you get the performance package it's 529 HP with a 10 speed Trans. There is no comparison because we all know your old boat can't corner because of all the weight in the front. I don't know why some of you guys think by slamming a huge piece of metal in a car it will somehow perform better.

      The Ford manufacturers are all over the United States and Canada a lot of them are made in Mexico..I remember when my mother purchased a brand new Lincoln town car in 1999 when you popped the hood everything said made in Mexico..Buy the time she had 11,000 mi on the motor it was shot.. I went to the right Ford dealership and they said I was absolutely right about the problem they put a brand new motor in the car at no cost to her and gave her a loaner until it was complete..She paid $33,000 in 1999..Had nothing but problems by the time it got off the trailer onto the ground..🤭😡🤭

      NASCAR wouldn't allow it. They absolutely hate innovation. They all have to be identical,like an IROC series which was so unpopular it didn't last long and evidently Fords weren't even considered for that series. NASCAR has gone to pot. The officials must be smoking it. It is so boring I hardly ever even watch it. Innovation and R & D is or was the best part of NASCAR, now it's nothing but a rolling parking lot.

    Need to make the front end look more like a real Torino, preferably the '70 GT. Also scrap the all-too-Mustang taillights for something that actually looks like it came off a Torino. The exhaust change I don't mind so much. Also,make it a single hood scoop like the '70 GT. The split grill also sucks. I'd also prefer a Torino engine worthy of the marque, like an updated version of the 429SCJ or at least an updated 351 Cleveland. The Torino was a ground shaker of a muscle car; the new version should be at least that.
