watched a crew do a 24 foot wide x 60 foot with one. they put duct tape over the pre- poured sidewalk and put a 2x4 stringer inside other end a foot from asphalt pulling it as they passed. Their's looked like it was driven by a hand threader. Basic, two speeds, and reverse. It rocked!! Done a lot of screed-n and this is the way to go. 4 guys one was floating. Turned out awesome. If your tube does get worn down. Your favorite welder/machinist would make it all better and well worth the cost.

i can see that there is a lot of wear in the area where the rod touches the concrete and my question is whats the life span of these tools ?

Thats the first question that arose in my mind as well. Any sort of wear will make the work too low. Seems like each side would benefit from having wheels and the roller pin would float at the hight of the bottom of the wheels.
