    Absolutely amazing video as always!! For restaurant applications if this had a customizable dining room layout that would show which tables were occupied, the start and end times for each customer that sat at them and which tables were available and utilized the drag and drop functionality of one of your previous applications it would have basically everything for a restaurant POS system.
    Thank you!! As always you inspire me to push the limits with what I do in Excel every day!!

    Hi Randy. I love your videos and your techniques on how you approach a problem solving. Your results are absolutely inspiring to me and have helped me many times.
    However, it would also be interesting to me if there was a "reset button" per Excel folder that would empty the folder contents with one click when a new year, new month, etc. begins.
    It would also be interesting to know how to create a dynamic invoice with Excel, which can then be printed out for the client.
    Best regards from Germany, NRW, Joko

    I had to deal with a few POS systems. Important for us was always: Import/export Customers and products (including modifiers). Export of sales reports and various sales statistics is a must. When dealing with food very important were food modifiers. If you have a made-to-measure salad it needs a variety of modifiers. Type of salad, Protein selection, dressing selection, vegetable selection, and so on. If you consider a restaurant, you can have eat-in, take-out, and catering orders. All can have different menu items that have the same name but are prepared differently. For example, a Geen salad for a catering order is 6 person minimum and individual order is just one portion. Yet the name is the same. To create the perfect POS is very challenging and it has to be PCI compliant. If you can't charge the c/c directly from the POS application it is kind of pointless to create one in my opinion. But it's a great training topic for sure. Can' wait to see the difference from your previous version.

    • @ExcelForFreelancers
      @ExcelForFreelancers  Před 3 lety +9

      Very interesting and thanks so much for sharing. So many possibilities with Excel. That is the issue with most developers. We try to create something for everyone and end up either not creating anything at all or creating something for nobody. It is better to create a simple, straight-forward application that is great for some, instead of trying to add every possibility, feature and option to accommodate everyone.
      Keep It Simple and you will have a huge amount of success.

      HI and thanks very much. If your prices are based off a customer, you can add an additional % column in your customer table and the same column in your POS. Then the total line item price will increase or decrease based on this %.

    i have added a column "Active" in the products page (people managing the product catalog put Y if Active, N if Not)- and added this column to the criteria list. This enables to filter out from the Product choice on POS products that are no longer active or on sale. This also garantees that the old inactive products are still in the products database in order to retrieve orders that included it. Again a big thanks for sharing your knowledge and super useful templates.

      Thanks so much for your comment. Adding the active feature is a great idea, since you can still save data for all items, however the list of available/ active items is smaller than the complete list. A great idea no doubt. Thank you for your Likes, Shares & Comments. It really helps.

I've recently started these trainings and so far so good but i believe being able to master this thing would take quite a bit of time. Plus being impatient never helps! haha

      Hi and thanks Corey, yes i have some ideas, if your website is Wordpress, through woocommerce API (I am only familiar with those), however you should be able to do that via webhooks and integromat to basically send to your website. I have on my "To Do" list something like that in which the Excel application syncs with your website. I hope to get that done soon. Thanks so much for your following and idea Corey.

    Been playing around with this for a bit now. I'd like to include payment type as a trackable line item per transaction. So, at the end of the day, it is possible to tally up the individual totals and do a reconciliation. I think I'm making it way more complicated than it needs to be. Do you have a video that may cover such a thing? (example...I took in this much cash, visa total, venmo total etc.)
