I want a professional recording of this.
One up this.. People, Make this a thing
Yes yes yes ! it's beautyful but recorded with a bad phone.
Yes yes yes! 👏🏻
Me too, please 😍🙏❤️
This is as professionell as its gets honey, live with it. This is the best !!!!!
The whistle is absolutely RIDICULOUS. I need to learn.
won't be too easy^^
I could teach you
@@theEduEnthusiast well, how do you do? I'm all ears :)
Ann inGG Was*
Dylan McDowell my dad and brothers do it effortlessly- I never could learn.
Absolutely amazing. Thank you Avi. My father was a strong, silent, strict Finnish man. He rarely showed emotion, unless it was anger, and though he has changed much over the years, he was certainly not known for his ability to entertain. However, on rare occasions, he would pick up my mom's guitar and play like it was his calling. And on even fewer occasions, he would sing. His voice was deep and powerful, and through his songs he would show hints of the emotion my family rarely witnessed. This song, Rising Sun, was one that he sang. Your rendition brought goosebumps to my skin, and took me back to those moments when my father had shared a piece of his heart. Thank you again for singing it. Your voice is a gift brother, and I have always enjoyed hearing it.
Ben Anderson 30/30 amazing essay great Ao1 and Ao2 although the Ao3 was slightly lacking the stupendous language analysis made up for it!
So deep dude, congrats
Ok
Wow Ben Anderson! Articulate and eloquent. Related much and succinctly.
I'm glad you got the opportunity to witness those sweet moments with your father...it's a shame that for whatever reason he couldn't express it other ways...but at least music was an outlet for him...and a chance for you to see him it that beautiful light. Music is Soo powerful, Soo healing...thank you for sharing your story.
That was probably the cleanest whistling I have ever heard
Try watching The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. The bass player has the greatest whistling I ever heard
Daniel Caton ~ Andrew Bird incorporates a lot of whistling into his recordings, too. Might want to check him out. Avi's great, though!
Check out Roger Whittaker for whistling. Damn.
you should check LP whistling
@@cappyfann750 ~ I searched for Roger Whittaker here on YT and found one called Mexican Whistle (Live on Austrian TV, 1977). Thanks for recommending!
You can feel this man's voice in your bones.
....and who knew? He can whistle too!
I've always said I can feel that voice into my bones and maybe I'm weird but that is so sexy.
@@deelynnl I don't think you're weird. I'm a hetero man and I find it sexy. Or we are both weird
@@lukasbeck4421 Glad I'm not alone.
@@deelynnl no you are not alone. Every time I hear "change on the rise" I get a musical "boner"
Are you fricken kidding me!! How talented is Avi?
Yes.
Far more than this poor boy.
nobody knows. There will always be a talent that surprises us
Yes.
Avi. Your voice was made for this song
Totally!!
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, and yes, I wholeheartedly agree with your statement, but it is highly unlikely he will see this considering
A: This isn't his channel
B: Even if it was his channel, I'm more than certain he would have a metric butt-ton of comments complimenting him.
Don't get me wrong, you are absolutely right, and I liked what you said.
Off topic: Honestly, with Avi, I'm somewhat glad he left PTX... He made PTX Whole, sure, but his voice was hardly ever soloed, and, as he said, he's much happier without all of the stress of schedules and such. To be frank, I just wish him the best. He's a great cover artist, with great looks, and a great personality. We love you, Avi. (Again, he probably isn't reading this so I'm not sure why I said it.)
@Diana Chino I'm confused as to what you mean by this... Mind elaborating?
@Diana Chino Kaplan Explained in the "goodbye" video, that a large part of PTX's success is due to the fast pace of their engagements, and that throughout his time with the group, he's had a hard time coping with the inability to see his friends and family when he needed to.
@Diana Chino there is no need for hostility... I asked for a rephrase and I got this in response.
Gosh the whistle 😱
Wow he whistles exactly like i do! It is great! You have a lot more control over it this way. At least for me it was always way easier to control.
@@schwarzcronnok102 my mom can whistle through her teeth like that, I'm trying to learn but my teeth aren't quite as straight and I think that is my biggest problem
@@schwarzcronnok102 I can whistle through my teeth but I can't get that sort of tremolo effect. That's crazy.
He is whistling through his teeth
@@matthewhoffman9242 I can whistle like that, too. You don't need your teeth for that, the sound is created by your tounge and your hard palate
OMG I can't believe I had to wait 72 years to hear this man sing, I have just discovered him and now I can't get enough. I hope he will be making many more albums before I die and then I wont go if I can't take them with me. I haven't loved a sound this much since the Beatles.
Couldn’t agree more Linda - there’s still life in us yet. We were lucky to have this music first time around, but this is a real rendition worthy of the original.
The Beatles were never my cup of tea but I loved 60's music. I was a young teen then.
Lady try Geoff Castelucci too ;],another amazing bass.
try Geoff Castellucci too, he wont disappoint!
He wasn’t around 72 years ago dude
Why is it I hear this deep, velvety, rich voice blasting through my headphones and my whole demeanor just flips sunny side up? That's how you know his voice is angelic. Please never stop creating greatness. He is so genuine. You can hear it clearly in his voice. My day has been made. Thank you so much, Avi, for making this cover.
@@anninriverside755 I love Pentatonix!!! Avi's voice just sticks with me like no other. Lol.
I was so sad when Avi left Pentatonix - but I feel now that it was absolutely the right decision for him. This is the absolute best version of this, my favourite song, I have ever heard. Plus Avriel and the Sequoias rendition of "Hey Ya" is fantastic. He doesn't need any validation from me, but my heart is bursting with pride for him.
Agreed, he did it because he wasn’t showing what an incredible voice he has, and I think it was probably the best decision he ever made
Oh my gosh I waited so long for him to cover it and now HE FINALLY DID IT!! I'm the luckiest guy in the world rn
Wonderful rendition. I will always prefer the Animals, but that’s my generation speaking. But, I will never diminish the talent of Avi Kaplan.
If I was super rich I would hire him to sing me to sleep every night
Good idea, but considering his decision to leave Pentatonix when they where peaking, I believe we're talking about a man with integrity, who is not for sale ;-)
My thought exactly. Love his voice! 😍
@ What do you mean? Did something happen at Pentatonix?
Good hahaha
@@Zale__ No, Avi was completely exhausted from the PTX lifestyle and from the fact that his mothers cancer had come back. When they were touring so hard and dragging the recording studio around with them he would fly home after concerts to be with his mom when she was having surgery and then fly back to do the next concert. They didn't know if she would live.
He had just produced that side project of Avriel and the Sequoias before all this happened and it was all just too much.
I went to his live shows this summer and he talked about how the weight of it all nearly took him down.
His mom posted her thanks to him on twitter about a year later when she was finally recovering. She said she thought people should know.
So happy to see Avi. I’ve missed him since he left Pentatonix.
Joe Burke that was a sad day.............
I could see this being played on a show like The Walking Dead towards the end of an episode. Just Avi singing as a montage of scenes are cut to it. Then BAM the big finale!
I was thinking the same. TWD has a fantastic soundtrack, and Avi would be perfect.
Luke Lizalde that’s a good idea
yes pls!
You know, I was sorry to see him leave Pentatonix, but good God man, keep going your own way. Let me go check Amazon Music for your album.
Pentatonix are overrated little kid voices. He made some money off them and can now actually be a musician.
@@2003dedog nah, you're just trying hard. They're great singers, this is not a matter of opinion. Also all of them have their own music no matter if you like them or not
Same
@@2003dedog So were you born a piece of shit or did that come later?
@@CyanideGirl94 Calling it like I see it brother. Shit musicians and shit singers that make money off the uneducated masses that think being gay, cute, and able to sing in tune with shitty technique is something worth spending money on. Enjoy your squeaker singers, I'll go listen to Voctave.
That voice gives me chills 😍
I was distraught when you left Pentatonix; but your incredible solo career has proven the wisdom of this decision. The simplicity of a a deep male voice with a guitar is magical. Your voice and extraordinary whistling make this rendition unique. Thank you.
He is the only man I have seen who can smile and whistle at the same time.
I think he is whistling through his teeth, not through puckered lips.
That. Was. Awesome! Mate, you even whistle like a boss!
Omg that whistle came out of NOWHERE. And it was AMAZING. I really really want him to put a pro recording of this up on Spotify cuz I would totally be listening to it on loop. The whistle just ties it all together and makes it so interesting to listen to.
Your voice just melts me. You just “give me the vapors “as vintage ladies say in the south
YES! I was trying to figure out how to say it without sounding like a stalker. Lol! I wish I was younger and I might be one, lmbo!
Vintage ladies is a funny expression! I'll be keeping a tab on that one.
kiuhlahla I’m 64. Don’t consider or feel myself as old but not new. Vintage Ladies just popped into my head. You know not ancient but considered collectible by many. Or Beyoncé s future hit.
kiuhlahla vapors is classic southern you make my heart flutter or make me swoon
I'd love to hear him sing either "Go Rest High (on that mountain)" or "You Raise Me Up (so I can walk on mountains)". The picture the lyrics give vs his smooth bass would be a moving and beautiful thing for sure.
Super even without “production”. Pure unadulterated talent.❤️
You can button up your shirt; you don’t even need that flash.
Even his whistling is otherworldly and fantastic!
You can tell he feels what hes singing. Amazing passion.
We need a full cover of this ASAP!
He sung this at his concert. So rich and amazing.
This needs a studio rendition, then straight to radio!💜📡
Avi’s voice is perfect for this song. Though he sings and talks low, he can sing the song perfect with some higher notes. He should record it and put it somewhere
N Holman uhhhh.......he just did that
Hubba hubba he is Eye candy and ear candy. Your voice is definitely a gift from God
Might be my favourite rendition of this classic. So many popular songs are sung in keys that only dogs can hear. We baritones need to see more of this.
My lord Avi- you’re so talented and you really do shine on your own. and while pentatonix just isn’t as good without you, i think you’re doing much better on your own. cheers to you man. 👏🏼
One of the most magnificent voices I've heard since a young girl when that song came out around 1964.
*jaw drops* ~ daaaaayyuuummmmmm... what a stupendous cover. Avi Kaplan is so incredibly talented.
The absolute best rendition of this song ever.
All I can say is WOW Avi. Anyone who can leave my jaw on the floor and make me forget my name singing a song I really don't care for WOW!!!
OMG!! Perfection at its finest. That whistle!!
This was recorded on my birthday.
This voice was totally underutilized in Pentatonix.
How? He helped them make amazing music that changed peoples lives. If you mean he didn’t solo as much, it’s because he was the bass and he was doing incredible bass lines for the group. To say his voice was underutilized completely undersells how important his voice was to pentatonix and their arrangements. He had so many amazing moments and times when he shined, I mean look how many people fell in love with his voice through pentatonix.
The addition of the whistle was just *chefs kiss* Cherry on top of an already beautiful arrangement. We NEED a high-quality recorded version of this we can buy now😭😭😭
I've always loved this song and the slower folksy versions of it...I personally sing this song my self in the more older mournful way ..it's wonderful to hear this version with Avi's gorgeous deep voice. There's so much history to this song ..and Soo many versions with wording. Thank you Avi for yours...it was outstanding. Beautifully done!!
Oh my goodness, Mr. Kaplan, I miss you soooo much with the Pentatonix. I do understand why, though. Your voice, your style, your magnificent ability is phenomenal, and hope I can still listen to you on the radio someday. Thank you for this.
I can't get enough and i haven't stopped singing this for days
Gotta run to this! It's so passionate and electrifying, even as just the solo acoustic
I’d absolutely LOVE to hear him do Poor Wayfaring Stranger in the same style as the movie 1917
Avi, you are the sexiest man alive! Keep singing those notes man. 💜💜
My goose bumps have goose bumps. His voice is like a warm and soft blanket for my cold ears.
His whistle is the best sounding smile ever ❤️
How is a human being so talented to whistle like that? This man is unbelievable!
I just burst into tears at how good Avi’s voice is😍😭
talent like this is Heaven sent......Love you Avi, and thank you!
Am I the only one that gets goose bumps when he hits those low notes?
absolutely phenomenal
Aquela voz que te contagia ao ponto de você cantar junto.👏👏👏😊😊
That singer that make the song so good that you don't realize when you started to sing along.
P.s: probably there is mistakes in my writing.
I've been watching old penatonix videos just to see Avi and hear his amazing voice. Now I can listen to this .. he sings to my soul . 💙💙💙💙 p.s. aww that smile at the end melted my heart .
There are many good fan videos lost in you tube. If you dont have them I can give you some links here.
Truly loving his voice
So pure. Velvet. Simply beautiful.
First time I've ever seen "whistle ventriloquism!" Never moved his lips once! C'mon down! --New Orleans, LA
He's whistling in between his teeth, instead of with his lips. That's also how it can be so high, most can't go so high normally.
Colaps, the beatboxer, can do this whistle too
@@anninriverside755 one of them, but he was definitely the deep bass drum licks.
I can whistle through my teeth like that
He was the bass. Kevin is and always has been the percussion guy, the beatboxer . He's the black guy. Well now there's another black guy who has replaced Avi, but Kevin is still there too.
So glad I got to meet AV when I was in choir. He was a former choir student of my teacher mr. Hayashi. So we were lucky enough to meet him and sing with him.
It’s so good to hear him. And that was incredible. I love you voice Avi Kaplan. It’s like listening to a deep base Cello speak. More please.
Just amazing! His range of talent! I hope he thanks God for it!
Avi isn't only an awesome singer (love his bass); but, he can whistle real sweet, too. Love your rendition, Avi.
that eb4 he hit at 1:20 was pretty damn good though. he does have a good range considering how incredibly low he can go.
actually an e4 (flips hair)

Where has this cover been all my life?! Avi's talents never cease to amaze me!
Could listen to Avi sing for hours.
Best cover ever!! 💚🔥
this is absolutely beautiful. wish my grandfather was around to hear this rendition. House of the Rising Sun was his favorite song. He used to sing it to me all the time. He as well had a very deep voice and this brings so many memories back.
De arrepiar!!!!
Que voz, que talento.... que homem lindo👏🏾👏🏾❤️🇧🇷
Avi seems to have learned how to control his Overtone with real precision . The " Whistle " . Actually voice generated I believe . Astonishing in a Bass Singer .
No he’s just whistling with his tongue. Although I’ve heard Avi pull off some cool overtone singing before
I've seen him do this live. He's whistling through his teeth.
Being a Louisiana girl & you've done this justice! You geaux!!! 💖💖💖💖⚜️ #GeauxSaints&Tigers
He was literally born for this.
Phenomenal
I'm just loving this guys voice!
He is so great
Thank you. Touches a part of my soul. My Dad used to have a deep bass voice, he sang and played the guitar, from the time I was born. He died back in 78. I was supposed to get his guitar, and I let my aunt, his youngest sister, hold on to it until her death, but it got damaged, so his family threw it out! I was heartbroken thinking it was my only inheritance, but I had two sons. I was the only one in the family with sons, and my youngest looks like my Dad, the same SE grin! Now his youngest daughter wants to play guitar. She wants to play with Grandma, but I have only begun 3 years ago, The Heavenly Father is good to me, but this recording has blessed my soul and Spirit, Haleluwyah!
two of my favorite things together... house of the rising sun and a man with a beautiful voice to sing it right!! thank you avi!!
This guy is amazing. Can't get enough.
Голос шикарный! Avi's voice is amazing!
Awesome
He has such an amazingly beautiful voice,I just love listening to him.
Maravillosa canción y un no menos increíble interpetre
He is so amazing!! I have yet to hear something he has done that I don't like. I would lay odds that he has perfect pitch!
AVi, please, Please, PLEASE!!! Put this song on your next album!!! Oh my goodness, you were BORN to sing this song!! Best rendition I have ever heard!!!
I would love to hear “Old Man River” by Avi.
My favorite voice in the whole world.
That voice makes me melt into a puddle
Yes whew
Avi starts singing. I melt into a giddy, happy puddle of mush.
Fantastic! One of my favorite singers sings one of my favorite classic songs, thank you man!
WOW I am always amazed by the beauty of his voice.
Please keep making music Avi! Your send chills up my spine❤🌹
Love this! Also love 'The Animals' too! :)
I didn't realize how bad I wanted Avi to cover this song until now!
I could listen to this on repeat all day every day. Simply stunning
Love the song. Love Avi) Just great that he sang it. Thank you!
Ive said it elsewhere and it is TRUE. His voice over the whole range is buttery smooth. I can listen to this for hours!
I would love nothing more than to hear him sing a cover of Evermore from Beauty and the Beast.
