    This week we are focusing on some commonly asked questions and some super fun and easy recipes! Today we are focusing on a DIY recipe for solid toilet bombs, IE toilet cleaners, not the other kind. Let's talk about how to form, how to make, how to troubleshoot, and of course how to use.
    For more information on the recipe, the surfactants used, and the bath bomb making process generally, make sure to check the bath bomb playlist, the FAQ playlist, and the Discord server!
    Soap & Clay is a family owned business operating in Washington State, but started out online thanks to Mrs. Soap & Clay's kickass brother and his amazing web design skills. The business was started as a tribute to Mrs. Soap & Clay's grandmother, the OG maker in the family that cultivated everyone's love for the DIY life. The studio/retail shop opened in 2017 on 6th Ave in Tacoma, and immediately began teaching soap, bath bomb, lotion, and scrub classes to the makers and maker enthusiasts of the PNW. In 2019, the pottery studio opened as well, making the soap shop a busy place full of artistic energy every minute of the day.
    Mrs. Soap & Clay has been featured on Business Spotlight, New Day Northwest, and was awarded a coveted place on the South Sound's 40 under 40 list in 2019, an award given to the most influential business people under the age of 40 each year. She cried when she walked up to the podium to accept the award. A lot.
    Drawing from her chemistry background and her maker spirit, Mrs. Soap & Clay infuses her favorite things into her soapy designs and creates products that are fun to see, use, and learn to make. Stick around for this ride - she'll take you on a great one.

    Recently subscribed to your channel and really love your videos and recommendations. Because of that, I just placed an order today with Cierra candle and soap. Can't wait to make my first batch of soap! Have to use up all the fresh goat milk I've been saving.

    Just finished my first batch of these. I just wanted to pop in and tell you that the plastic wrap on the press is nothing less than GENUIS! My bath bombs will DEFINTELY benefit from that little tip! Fingers crossed on how they turn out. I did not have coco betaine so I used Mr Bubble instead.

    I've just finished making these using your recipe, Chantine...Absolutely wonderful!!! I am still blowing my nose from the lemon/eycalyptus EOs I used, but even minutes after finishing up, I got a luscious foam (too bad its wasted on the pot) and a good clean...Thank you for sharing...I had given up on making toilet cleaner as the effect wasn't very interesting for the user...they want PROOF it is working...this should do the trick.

    This is perfect! I think I will try and make this. I think this can be a dual purpose cleaner like other than the toilet, I can use this to clean my bathroom floor too, right?

    Thank you once again Chantine for another informative video .. I always look fwdto your videos .. I add hydrogen peroxide to my toilet bombs .. more for the disinfect effect .. see you in the next episode . ❤❤

      How do you add hydrogen peroxide without it activating your dry ingredients 🤔

  • @valbakke

    Have you ever tried AOS-40 for a surfactant with these? It's a liquid .

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  Před 10 měsíci +2

      Hey! I haven’t, but the specs look pretty standard. I would replace the bubble up and the water with the AOS-40 and fully incorporate before adding the citric acid in to start.

      Hey! You bet. We did some tests in year 2 with SCI et al if you'd like to see how they perform. Have fun!

  • @MsAubrey
    @MsAubrey Před 10 měsíci +1

    Okay… so any recommendations for subs for the SLSA and cocamidopropyl betaine? 😂
    Just kidding… I’ll just have to use my regular toilet bowl cleaner.

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  Před 10 měsíci +2

      Ha! Honestly just adding some sodium carb to a standard recipe helps a lot!

  • @Skawski1
    @Skawski1 Před 9 měsíci

    Ok…..😰 so I tried your recipe and I can’t get it to foam up like yours. I was going to try to buy the ones you make to see how they should be, but I don’t know how to do that. I have also played with a few variations of the recipe including adding a cup of hot water to the toilet before I add the bomb since you mentioned something about the cold water/hot water thing. I also thought maybe you sped up the video so maybe that’s why it looks like it suds so much? Help please please I want to make toilet bombs 💣 lol

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Hey! No extra edits or anything to accomplish; just dropped it in and recorded the results! If you have hard water, you may need to fiddle with the ingredients to get a bigger foam in your area!

    • @Skawski1
      @Skawski1 Před 9 měsíci

      How long are you letting them dry out before using them?

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  Před 9 měsíci +2

      I usually let all bath bomb type products dry overnight before wrapping or storing.
