    Styles make fights.Sibson has to be kept outside.His strength is on the inside.Sibson is a true Gentleman and good sport.Not arrogant like many others .

    Well this was a nice trip down memory lane. Sibbo was one of my favourite boxers in my youth. Great upload thanks.

    Sibbo’s jab was as hard as anyone else’s right cross, incredible.

    The kid and his corner probably began to believe their own hype. Then they’d have seen what the Marvellous one did to Sibson and thought he was a name ripe for the taking....WRONG!

    Good old SIBBO!! He always went into the Ring to have a good GO!. And if you was at the end of his punches and losing well watch out.Very Brave Performance he showed in feb of 83 against a PEAK Hagler,thats whats he's really known for.Would have been go to see him fight Errol Bomber Graham for a British Domestic fight back in the Mid 1980's. Shame it didn't happed as it would have been a battle of Styles.

    He didn't hang about did he? Knew how to close out a fight same as he put Minter away. Hagler was on a whole different level but Sibson was a class middleweight.

      Totally agree. I would caveat that Minter was on the decline but Sibbo destroyed him that night. Id have been interested to see Sibson fight Hamsho.

    What a warrior Sibson was.Just too naturally strong for Collins here.

      well 29-0 is a heck of a start to a pro career. After Hagler messed up Sibson - they probably thought he would be easy to break down. Wrong!

    Sibson was a quality fighter. Showed his class versus Collins. Obviously the Americans underestimated him.

    Interestingly John Collins had a remarkably blown-up record almost identical to a UK boxer called George Collins. Both had 'impressive' records until you looked a little deeper and both lost to the only two world level opponents they fought.

    Tony was such a hard luck guy. Really enjoyed watching him fight. A gentleman and a TRUE fighter. Always gave what he had.
    Collins was a good fighter. Just not ready here. Makes you wonder if the LaPaglia fight took something out of him? It certainly took something out of LaPaglia. That fight was a war!

  • @grumpyoldgraymetalhead2441

    This was Man vs Boy.

    Anybody surprised that Sibo only had a KO in half his fights? 52 fights and 26 KOs. This guy was like john Mugabi how does that ad up?

    • @xchindit
      @xchindit Před 2 lety +3

      He was a laid back guy, didn't like to hurt people, didn't like the spotlight and didn't take it very seriously during the first part of his career. When he had something to prove he could finish you very quickly

    • @joeblow2069
      @joeblow2069 Před 2 lety

      @@xchindit I do not buy that at all.

    • @xchindit
      @xchindit Před 2 lety +3

      @@joeblow2069 Whether or not you buy it, anyone who's followed Sibson's career knows this stuff. I remember him well when he was a young pro, he was fighting every couple of months and showed ability but no real dedication or passion. He wasn't going anywhere until he got a shot at the British title. Anyway he's admitted all of this in interviews. The Collins fight is a good example. Sibson was getting beaten up by his Chicago sparring partners (he didn't want to hurt them), he was homesick and he wanted to call off the fight. He called his dad in England who straightened him out. I'm not knocking Sibson, he's a good guy and in his prime and on form there weren't many who could stand with him. I'm happy he got out with all his faculties.

    I’ve known Jack most of my life. I worked with him and I know he was favored to win that fight. I asked him how he let him beat him, he told me he didn’t take it seriously. He didn’t have anything else to prove. If Jack trained the way he knows he should have he would have smoked him.
