Thinning with narrow Vimek 4040 harvester

Pre commercial thinning with a Vimek group of small CTL-machines. 25 ear old spruce (picea abies) plantation in arable land in Sweden. The harvester Vimek 404 T6 operates within the stand without strip roads and the Vimek 610 forwarder extract the wood via small 3 meter strip roads.

What's the barrel behind the harvester's cabin?

They use it for carrying water. During spring, summer and early autumn (temp above 5 degr Celcius) the stumps are treated to protect the stand from root rot disease. Urea solution is automatically sprayed at the stump when cutting the tree and water is needed to mix the Urea-solution.

It's pulpwood for the pulp industry. It ends up as paper, board, tissues etc
