The GS 1100 E was the best bike of the era, and definitely worth owning today. It was fast, comfortable, good looking, and an easy keeper. Problems were few, and the general quality was top notch. I loved mine.
Had one it was red. For 1982 it was unbelievable bone stock it would smoke the tire in 3rd gear. Did some mild mods. Was smooth and comfortable and dependable.
MANY BIKES OF THIS ERA USED SAME CALIPERS,I HAVE A BOX FROM THE TWO GSs AND SOME YAMAHAS AND ARE INTERCHANGEABLE.I got rid of the anti dive as I never thought it did much good and just tuned the front suspension with the adjustments and air pressure to suit my needs.IT IS ALL JUST RIDER CHOICE. ALSO REPLACED REAR ROTOR WITH A SPARE FRONT ONE TO SAVE A FEW POUNDS OF UNSPRUNG WEIGHT. BEST MOD THE 530 CHAIN CONVERSION AND OVERDRIVE GEARING 16x40.
CAL:IPERS ARE INTER CHANGEABLE,EBC PADS,EBC FLOATING ROTORS,STEEL BRAKE LINES.STOCK ROTORS WARP UNDER HEAVY USE AND YOU GET THAT PULSING.EBC FLOATERS CURE THAT FOREVER.USE A FRONT ROTOR ON REAR WHEEL TO SAVE WEIGHT,IT IS MUCH LIGHTER.THAT SYSTEM WORKS WELL FOR ME AND MY RIDING STYLE.
Try doing a valve check on a new 4cyl. Remove seat, tank, airbox, drain water and move radiator. I'll stick with my Guzzis, they're more bike than I am rider. Enjoyed the video Windy and RIDE SAFE OUT THERE!
Hi Windy, The calipers look like they have the old Yamaha symbol on them. Are they, in fact, from another bike? Also, I see you have disabled the anti-dive. Care to comment on why you did that? Thanks, Jeff
The GS looks mint. You have me curious when you mentioned you upgraded the brakes. Did I notice Yamaha tuning fork emblems on the front brake calipers? What brake upgrade did you do? Great video as usual.
IT IS TO CLEAR THE BIRDS AND RABBITS OFF THE DRIVEWAY.WE FEED THE BIRDS AND I HAVE HAD SOME CLOSE CALLS IF THEY DO NOT HEAR ME. KARYN USUALLY KNOWS WHEN I GET BACK AND SHE COMES OUT WITH MY HONEY DOO LIST.

THE GS1100E STILL MAKES ME FEEL YOUNG AND REMINDS ME OF A TIME NOT LONG AGO WHEN DRAG RACING WAS KING.
Had a 83 with a Yosh pipe and it was a monster. Waxed so many other bikes street racing. Those were the good old days.

I had one like this. Put race pipe, race cams . Big bore kit. Use to eat back tyres . Would wheel spin up to 100 in the wet. Loads of fun . 😊

I have a 1985 GS1150 E ,it's all original stock and like new. I like a clean bike too. I really like your bike and videos.
