Speaking about levitated, I have a song request for Voiceplay: Your Power by Billie Elish, collaborate with Alexia.
I love that their instinct is just to keep singing, even when they're freaked out because the person next to them is breaking the laws of physics!
Huge props to Ashley because the timbre of Kate Bush's voice in the original is so unique and hard to replicate. Eli as well did a a fantastic job of putting his own spin on the chorus.

So... I did/caused a thing at work involving this video/song.
I forgot I left Bluetooth on... and my phone connected to the entire speaker system at my job (a bakery), and everyone froze... looked around, and to my surprise many of them started singing along.
My boss walks in and asks who’s music is this... my answer was it’s my phone, and it’s my favorite a cappella group singing. She asked who they are... I told her: it’s Voiceplay, a group of guys plus a female friend of theirs singing a song from Stranger Things.
Her response: what else have they done? I show her some videos...
Her next sentence almost brought me to my knees.
My boss: “I love the beatboxer... he’s so handsome.”
My response: yes yes he is
So I ended up playing almost every song done by Voiceplay from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm... and singing along with every single one.

I can’t believe that it took me this many times of watching the video to realize that they’re portraying Geoff as Vecna! If you listen to the lyrics that he features on, plus how the background and colors change when he’s singing, it makes so much sense. Just another understated touch of brilliance from these guys!
I loved how prominent Layne’s voice is around 2:55. He has such a gentle quality to his singing voice, which is perfect for this section, and also contrasts nicely to his usual sick beats. Y’all so talented! 😊

I love that the guys are not just continuing to sing, regardless of the levitation, they are frozen in place, save for their singing. Look at how much they were bopping along before, then they are all still while she levitates. The terrified faces make more sense too. (I have never watched Stranger Things, so maybe there's a reason, I don't know.)

I kind of regret finding VoicePlay. It seems all my time is spent obsessively watching these videos anymore. :D I also have to give it to Mr. Stein: His beats and mixing are insane. He is incomparable and so critical to how good these songs turn out! But, omg all of these voices were so great together. Every single person was irreplaceable. This is by far my favorite version, even over the original!

Ashley was a great pick in collaborator - her voice just suits this song perfectly! The absolutely gorgeous blend of voices at 2:52 creates such an amazing, gentle texture.
Layne, thank you from the bottom of my chord junkie heart for those Cmin(add9) chords at 1:04, 2:14, and 3:25 - I’m not sure you’ll ever realize how happy those made me! 😍This arrangement is just so pleasing and interesting. You have a real knack for taking the listener on a journey. (Starting and ending this song with a nod to the Stranger Things theme was a brilliant touch.)

I can hear Eli as a possible lead, if Cesar doesn’t do it.
I can see/hear Layne being able to do this, with very little struggle.
But I don’t know where Geoff would fit in... there’s no true bass drop in this one... other then being the bass line I don’t see him being the shock factor in this song.
It’s an interesting idea for sure, and I don’t think they have done anything from Bowie yet either.
I honestly want to throw Layne an EDM type song... but that might be too much... I’m mostly listening to instrumental music, anything Voiceplay and Pentatonix put out, and themes and music from video games... Well, they've already recorded numerous songs by The Nylons... perhaps they could "update" one of them (since only Geoff and Layne are on the original).
Though I must admit, it would be kinda fun to see how they would "rearrange" something by, say, The Persuasions (from six singers to five) given that it's already a capella.
I've also heard rumour Geoff is a fan of Jukebox the Ghost, so there's always something by them - which could be quite the challenge.

Every little detail of this is so perfectly on point both in the vocals (Ashley Diane is perfect for this song) and in all the visuals (the lighting, the clothes, the props etc.), that it catches my attention from the very first second, and I feel like I'm transported into another world (The Upside Down 🤔😱). However unlike The Upside Down in the series I'm not terrified, but simply left mesmerized and feeling like I have had my brain wonderfully tickled 😍🤩

"FEATURING Ashley Diane anti-gravity" Ashley is magic, confirmed! Also, I think someone might want to give Layne a Turing test... Cesar on that synth line and Geoff doing the modulations 3(?) octaves lower than the original vocals couldn't have been easy! Ashley is perfect for this one, and Eli again makes it look easy!
This has long been in my top 5 songs of all time, and this is a great version, as expected from VoicePlay! I feel like they have a really good mix of current music and classic hits like this and Dream On. Thanks for the hard work, guys, and Layne, this arrangement was very true to the original and at the same time soooo VoicePlay, I love it!

@@deanmarion5477 Very good question! Whatever they do is usually great, and they tend to pick more complicated arrangements these days. I'd love to hear some more dance style pieces, or really anything modern that has high BPM and Bass frequency, as Geoff and Layne really shine on those. As for collaboration, I think their current rotation of frequent collabs (Rachel, Ashley, Omar, Deejay and Adrianna) is really solid, though I'd like to see some more Emoni in the near future. They've really leveled up these past few years, and I'm excited to see where they go next.

i love geoff's voice in this piece
I was not expecting this to make me smile as much as it did. I haven't ever watched Stranger Things (just not for me) so I'm sure there's easter eggs I missed, but this just hit me in all the right happy places. Layne doing things with his beatboxing I'm not sure are real yet, Geoff being Geoff which means simply out of this world with the smoothness of everything he does. Cesar the unsung MVP with his performance (body language and faces), Eli nailing a tonal quality of Kate Bush and striking my young hearted 80s vibe with his dress, and I just crush for Ashley and I'll leave it at that.
Edit: Also the production quality of the video is outstanding. Shoutouts to the background people that did the set, lighting and video editing. Probably the best effort of all 3 of these areas from Voice Play in a while.
Based on your analysis, what do see Voiceplay for their new songs covers? My idea: Stranger Things medley, collaborate with Scott Hyoing from Penatatonix and Tim Foust or Les miserables medley, collaborate with Austin Brown from Home Free and Mitch Grassi from Penatatonix and other collaboration.
@@deanmarion5477 it's tough to say because their creativity is massive. They could come out with something none of us expected. I'm just here to enjoy the ride they are taking us on.

The people who do the set, lighting, and most of the editing is Voiceplay themselves. :) Eli does most of their lighting, and you can watch them doing set assembly in patreon videos. It looks like Layne did the video editing on this one. The real background people are running cameras and doing makeup. They all seem like nice folks.
I don't know when VoicePlay will reach there limits.. at this point I don't think they have any limits - also love it when layne gets a couple lines where he's the lead vocalist ( this again backs up my point that not only did he swallow a whole soundboard but was gifted in vocals as well). When Ashley started levitating i definitely was not expecting that to be honest I don't know what I was expecting but that blew any non - existent expectations away... Great job guys your amazing at what you do 💙
I have found some favorite Voice Play performances have Layne singing, rapping or something other than vocal percussion, and his vocal percussion is so unique and awesome.
