Arthur is such a good character that I literally cant bring myself to do a low honor play through
Really? I thought I was just a baby for feeling like that
That shows how loveable Arthur is
You almost feel bad for the character even tho he doesn't exist or have personal feelings but still
After 4 years and 12 play through, I never play a low honor game. But my online character, bottom floor of hell.
yea me too lmao I feel guilt when killing somebody because npcs are like living people lol
I was just doing my own thing, i never killed people for no reason and only robbed people (doesn't make it any better), but once I got to the TB part of the game I started being a lot nicer, idk how to explain it but it changed my demeanor for the rest of the game
i was fucking sobbing when I saw him taking his final breath on that hill watching the sunset. Best protagonist that rockstar has ever made.
Maybe the best protagonist ever…

There’s one thing that he missed, Arthur is you but in red dead, Rockstar made sure Arthur was costumizable and makes you feel like you are Arthur, he is a real character but also you really feel like him. That’s why switching to John in the epelouge feels weird because Johns a real character, he has his own guns and horse and you have to play as the specific character John is but with Arthur you can basically be whoever you want, it puts you in the game without depriving Arthur of his character
that’s actually facts. I found no matter how I wanted to play the honour system, it always worked well. I started bad but the story development literally made me stop doing that and turn to the good side, but it wasn’t like a forced point in the story I just did it at a random time. I think when I saw the woman with her boy who’s dad you killed, that made me feel like shit.
Tayk47 Same the miner mission where you could give the mom money made me feel so bad. I was pretty rich by then so I wished I could give her so much more money. I also kicked that loan guy at camp out because he was a dick.
@@drhater2318 ya bro it hit different lmaooo. when I went back n he was as grown up working in the mine too and those older guys were beatin on him n making fun of his mom, ohhhh bro I did not throw hands I put shellzzzz in them motherfuckers
John has all the same personal customization options as Arthur in RDR2. It just feels that way because you probably played RDR1 before they had any real personalization features (outside of a few outfits) and the character was more set in stone.
Beautifully put, couldn't have described it better.
At the end of my first playthrough, I straight up ugly-cried. One of the only times I’ve ever ugly-cried to a video game.
I cried at the end of cod infinite warfare lol

“We can’t change what’s done, we can only move on”
I think it’s important to say high honor Arthur, while he still isn’t good he’s definitely better then low honor Arthur
IMO, low honor Arthur is a bad man who refuses to accept the fact that he can change and just goes deeper into this lower honor. While high honor Arthur is a bad man who knows it and accepts it, and thus dies content.
What do you mean I went to get the money at the end and shot up multiple towns and I think it was better doing low honor
@@chong3209 agreed, I use that to make myself feel better when I didn't get higher honour in a play-through
Not really, low or high honor doesn't make a different storywise, it's the ending you choose, help john or go back for the money, you choose the money it mean your Arthur is not a good man that is no different to that greedy rat but if you help John it means you accept that you are willing to die to do what's right
I think it's better to play low honor Arthur all the way until he gets diagnosed with tuberculosis
I wouldn't say Arthur had so long to live, Just due to the fact it kept getting intensely worse due to the climate and his living situation throughout the TB adventure.
2 years is the prognosis for TB, that is if you basically retire and are bed ridden for the rest of your life. Arthur did everything but that. Maybe he thought hair tonic was a secret cure or something haha.
@@Gmanslayer76 yeah, pretty weird.
Yep you are correct, guarma especially accelerated his illness.
And he had it for months even if the symptoms appeared later
It’s weird how I played rdr2 different to any other rockstar game as the honour system and Arthur’s character actually mattered to me so unlike gta 5 I wasn’t just recklessly moving everywhere and killing random people
yeah, if there wasn't the whole "good or evil" morel system i would play a lot diffrent, i never robbed anyone or any thing
Fr I genuinely felt sorry for most of the npcs
Yes I agree they didn't focus at all in gta 5 on the repercussion of killing even if some characters have no interest in killing innocents like Michale he has a family he can't just going into a killing spread an then acting like nothing happened
@@danielecostalonga135 That's the point of his character, no matter how good of a person he thinks he is, it's just a front he creates for himself and others. Trevor brings this up many times, at least he's being honest about what he is and doesn't try to pretend otherwise. Michael is as much a crazy killer as Trevor is
For starters the npcs in rdr2 feel like real people. In the gta series everyone is a scumbag even the pedestrians. Granted, I don’t play the gta games what I know is solely from watching my friends play it.
I legit stopped gaming for a solid month after Arthur’s story because it literally broke me. One of the greatest gaming protagonists of all time
thats call depression dont worry i also have depression when i finish some goood movies and games
Arthur deserves good honor and the good ending. So whoever gave him low honor amd the bad ending... I hope you went back and gave him the ending he deserves.
i made this mistake the first time, the games so much more positive with high honour.
Cutscene Arthur certainly deserves the good ending.
Gameplay Arthur is a psycho who kills more people than all the other characters combined lol.
I helped John get to safety with low honor originally. Then I went back and got high honor going back for the money, only so I could give Micah a scar. I’m currently on my third playthrough.
I played low honour until the last chapter, then I spent several hours getting it back up
@CheekiTiki , or if you play him in game like he he is in the cutscenes
I’m a former marine, who served in Iraq in 2010-2014 and seen so much death and tragedy, but this game hit hard like damn

Red dead redemption 2 really showed that rockstar makes some of the best dang stories a game can have while making people attached to the characters, and on the less bright side it shows how much they care about a amazing multiplayer experience
It’s the only good game rockstar has made
@@The_king567 what About the GTA franchise or bully or la noire, i mean rockstar as a bunch of masterpieces they just dont do games every year unlike most companies who just want money and dont care about their gaming community

@@The_king567 caring about their fanbase doesnt mean they got to be making games all the time they just got make games that are playable and without that many bugs
Unpopular opinion: Rockstar’s second best character is Micah. They managed to create a character that wasn’t just universally hated, by despised. They created a character so foul it’s impressive and I think that deserves some credit.
Yeah those two are by far the best characters of Rockstar and I would go this far to say that even rdr2 as a game is the best Rockstar ever made even better than the whole gta series
Also add to the fact that the actor for Micah also hated his own character, but loved playing him. I was surprised when he said that.
Antagonist are tied to the protagonist. They are meant to be the opposite and both have their charm.
Still, it's a hard job to make both roles shine and normally antagonist are forgettable in most stories.
Rockstar did a great job giving development to the most important characters (the game it's perfect, but there were characters that could get more screen time). Arthur and Micah sure were part of those.
Nah making an unlikable character is easy. Just make them kill a dog and everyone will hate them😂😂😂. The second best character in RDR2 is Dutch. Watching him spiral and get more vicious and more paranoid is great storytelling. Much harder to pull off than making a character unlikable.
I cried at the ending I wish Arthur could’ve gotten a happy ending I hope we get a prequel for when Arthur, Dutch, and Hosea were first starting out I want more of Arthur

I love Arthur, but John will always have a special place in my heart
"We're outlaws in a world that don't want us no more." - Arthur Morgan, 1899. R.I.P
I miss Arthur so much. I wish he could've survived, lived with John for a bit like Charles and Sadie did, then ran off like them. Ugh
My poor boy what a game, what a man…
arthur is one of my favorite characters of all times.. He made me cry multiple times during the series and at the end it made me feel so fulfilled and sad at the same time.
he's also a hottie.
Lets give him another round of applause for doing this in the 1800's, where not many people had remorse or care for others.
Imperialism took a very big toll on America during that time, also Laze Defier Capitalism. Meaning taking everything that wasn’t claimed yours, so only the strongest will survive and conquer the land of the living. This both applied to the rich and the poor, The intelligently high class, and the limited middle class. It’s choices were either fight or die, with this type of thinking soon coming out an end in terms of working inside the law. This created division and toxicity between the New World and its people. Simple country folk got really used to the individuality of the free country and land, but once those ideals were stripped away it lead many to feel isolated and betrayed. This lead people like Dutch Vanderlin, to be a rebellious outlaw fighting for simplicity and freedom, away from complications and unknown hardships of the Industrial Age. The same ideals were brought into Arthur, and through these Demeanors he was able to always able to justify his actions and partake in Dutch’s plan of a better world 🌎 however as time grew past, Arthur soon found that he was no better than any other petty criminal in American society, but the only thing clear was that he had nowhere to go other than Gang, or try his luck by himself. He tried finding a life outside of the gang by having a wife and son, but after they were killed it cemented isolation within Arthur’s mind; that there was no way out of this life and staying in there’s no way to be two people at once. Then finally at the late years of the Vanderlin gang he began to see a common pattern, Dutch’s plan of the free world was only as true as the world allowed it to be. The world will continue to grow past the need for petty theft.” We’re thieves, in a world who don’t want us no more.😔” this was already the beginning in his redemption arc, all he ever wanted was to live a simplistic natural order of life in isolation away from the wonders of the world. However Arthur saw that the world was rather closing IN on him. Then came Dutch’s poor planning, dysfunctional leader ship, and little to no faith inside the actual gang itself. Tuberculosis guided understanding and desperation into Arthur. All he ever wanted to do from that moment on, was do what was right by him, not what people perceive to be moral, but what brought him satisfaction of seeing other people happy and OK. He didn’t care about the money, he didn’t care about escaping, The only thing that he wanted more than anything in life; was to give his life to create a better one for others. Isn’t that just fucking poetic🥺?!
@@reecegreyshock9646 Mate this comment right here just gave me a even deeper understanding of the story, Brilliant. Im now convinced that this work of art, should be taught in lectures about philosophy and sociology or something?
“As Arthur Morgan got diagnosed with TB, he knew his death was imminent. So he had lived as the best outlaw there ever was. Killing everyone in his path and destroying everything like a badass, he cared nothing but money. He was not afraid and was not after any redemption. In the end he couldn’t get the money and got stabbed by the gang rat and died as an outlaw.”
Going back murdering all he show ever showed the slightest sympathy for his biggest regret was he wasn’t able to prove uncle had limbago was real
The defining trait of Arthur isn’t that he’s afraid of death, it’s that he is. He’s afraid to die, pushing his struggles of nearly drowning in Guarma, dismantling the Braithwaite clan and needing to stop Dutch feel all the more real. Even before his tuberculosis, he, canonically, only kills when he has to. He’s not a killer like Micah or Bill, he’s a man just trying to protect what he cares about.
I played through rdr1 before rdr2 was even out and still remember how I cried when John died

Arthur literally told the sister he was scared to die and he got TB like 3 missions in what is this guy talkin about
True but Arthur recoinciled with his death after that scene, it’s a bit tough to explain ever evolution of a character in a 60 hour game

@@Hermit0 nah you did great buddy its normal you cant put each and every step of Arthurs emotional journey in here
if Arthur had an easier going life and lived more like hosea it would've been years maybe, but because he was more active and danger prone he died faster, most point out the TB got worse after he was tortured by the Driscolls
He wasn’t diagnosed with TB 3 missions in.

Honestly I never like red dead 1. It was ok, game like any other. Red dead 2 however is a masterpiece. Arthur already was good and just did a 60° turn. Not even a full 180° which was refreshing and realistic. I loved him as a character
Indeed, Arthur's death hit harder than I could expect, certainly one of the best characters in videogame's history.

"He did not die a hero, he died a legend"
You said something wrong: After finding out that he has TB, Arthur is even more so afraid of death than ever (he even admits this to the sister at the train station). When suddenly faced with death, he wanted to help wherever he can with the time he had left, out of fear that he would have lived a bad and meaningless life. He was never not afraid of death..
i claim myself to be a mix of Arthur, Hosea and John such good and complex yet simple idead characters
Fun fact: The voice actor for Dutch van der Linde actually sobbed offstage after he did that scene with Arthur and Micah on the hill
I definitely cried when he finally died.
I also cried when he told sister Calderon he was afraid and you can see the pain, sadness, loneliness, and fear in his eyes.
Also when he said goodbye to his horse who was there for him when he needed him! Man, I wanna play RDR2 but I don’t feel like crying so damn much again lol this game is a masterpiece but I was left both satisfied and exhausted by playing this game. Satisfied bc it was such a fucking masterpiece in almost every single way possible, and exhausted by how much energy and emotion It took from me simply by progressing the story.

The first game that made me shed a tear
Funny thing was I started out as a very low honor character but as the store when on it didn't feel right to do bad things and the good things came much more natural. Ended with max honor and what felt like a real redemption of its own.

R.I.P Arthur Morgan. I replayed rdr2 just to play as Arthur again
I already had a feeling I was ganna cry playing this game and this confirmed it even more
I cried my heart out at the end and I’m not afraid to admit it
When he died I just broke down in my room. Red Dead Redemption really got me out of my household which is sub par to say the least, and I’ve never connected to someone as well as Arthur Morgan.
The only game that never failed to make me emotional
I’m not afraid to admit that I’ve cried a total of 8 times from this game, one of the moments is when he’s talking to the sister, and he says he’s afraid
The saddest part was that he never saw himself as what he was. He saw himself as a monster which could be true for most his life, but he took the gamble, and did a loving act, gave up on all worldly concerns, saving John and many others. But in the end, he never saw what he did.
Rest in peace Arthur i miss you every passing day i still cry for you
"You pick your sides not cause soon this is gonna be over" or sum like that
This game teaches u something really important idk what it is but it changes you
“You talk as if killing was something I cared about”
Selfless and caring…
Fair enough
All the deaths hit the hardest the second time because you know their coming but you hope it changes and it doesn't
My heart still breaks when he gives John his hat
Oh Arthur I miss him I told Dutch Micah is not one to trust but he’s not listening
Kind if similar to Doc Holliday, he got Teberculosis and so he wasn't afraid of dying, didn't Eben die from a shoot out, died from the disease 14 years after being diagnosed.
I mean he didnt got tuberculosis in the middle more in the start since it was still in chapter 2 in a mission for Mr Strauss to collect debt at the downes Ranch. The owner of the ranch has tuberculosis and infects arthur with it.
Omg I cried when he died I still get tears when I hear that song that plays😞💯
